sorry no…it actually doesn’t just mean they eat meat. that would be a carnivore. a predator is something that kills for its food. a scavenger still eats meat but is not a predator.
In the context of Zootopia, they’re the same. Because every animal is a predator or prey, and since a scavenger would not qualify as prey, they would be considered predators. Foxes specifically are considered scavengers in real life, but in Zootopia, they are still called predators. I’m pretty sure they did this because “predator and prey” is easier to say/remember than“carnivore and herbivore”.

In what world?" and the whole Us vs Them of Predators and Prey.
Loved how he's also going through the stages of confusion, fear and conclusions like how we also felt while watching it for the first time. He seemed genuinely interested in the movie and that's raw reaction video right there 😭💕
Disney plus actually made short stories for some of the characters and one of them is actually how the polar bears became protectors of the mob boss, he basically helped out the polar bears when they were suffering in the heat when zootopia was first becoming a city and they were very grateful and protected the rodents from an attack because of his kindness 26:44

He will be lying on the floor like a priced pelt with 3 mouse corpses laying out on the garden that he got overnight. I love him with all my heart but I know he's a ruthless monster when it comes to hunting. We often forget the reason why they are tired is because they just went on a murder spree that puts Jason Voorhees to shame

Otters are actually pretty ferocious little mammals even tho some types of otters are like 6 ft long and yes, they're predators. the family that the otters belong to are called the mustelids and they all are predators, like their cousin the weasels, badgers, stouts, wolverine and etc.

About Mr Big: He's a type of shrew - pound-for-pound the most vicious animal on Earth, even putting honey badgers to shame. But there's some additional backstory as to why he runs Tundratown. He immigrated to Zootopia as a child to live with his grandmother in Little Rodentia and worked very hard to earn money to support her. (I don't recall what happened to his parents.) He earned a reputation for his integrity and generosity, and (iirc) helped prove the innocence of a polar bear cub that used to bully him. As he grew up to become a pillar of his community, he earned the respect of both Little Rodentia and Tundratown in general.
Being pray or predator has nothing to do with the size of the animal, but whether they hunt or no. The least weasel is one of the smallest predators, it weighs about 30-55 grams and has 15-25cm long body (tail included). Them mfs are tiny xD Sure an antelope wouldn't be on the menu for a lest seal, but they do steal bird eggs and hunt for mice and frogs etc. or even baby bunnies and squirrels if needed. Actual pictures of animals may depicts this better than Zootopia. Prey have better peripheral vision than predators, predators have better stalking abilities. Nature in balance.
Otter's are predators, their diets most consists of fish, mussels, ducklings and whatever birds they're able to catch off the surface of water. But mostly fish and oisters - depending on the wildlife in their area.
Another good indicator is teeth; prey will typically have broad/flat teeth to suit their typical plant-heavy diet, while predators, typically having a meat-heavy diet, have sharper teeth to both catch and chew their prey. However, considering there's been instances of horses eating meat, even catching a bird MID AIR, its good to remember that the lines this movie draws aren't always so clear cut in reality 🙃

As someone who nearly lost an eye to a rabbit, they are very underratedly vicious (or can be, at least). Those back legs are just fluff and pure muscle, so Judy using them against Gideon was a great detail.
RIGHT?! Definitely wish more people would watch the movie. It's just great. So many messages in there that address so many in real life situations. They made this movie very well. It's definitely one of my favorite animated movies. I can't even count the times I've watched it.

Anthropomorphic characters like Nick Wilde don't need to dress up to look like an animal. Definition of furry: Animal characters with human characteristics, *in particular a person who dresses up in costume as such a character or uses one as an avatar online.* So these characters wouldn't fit in to that category. Just like how Micky mouse doesn't need to put on a mouse costume. That's my take on it.

But to be a furry isn't just to like the idea of anthro animals because if that were the case, then all of us were furries as a child with mickey mouse, goofy, lion king, etc. I don't think just liking anthro animals immediately makes someone a furry or in a furry fandom, they could just be an animal lover. Not a part of the furry fandom. If people who like that stuff and identify as a furry then fine. There is a CRIMINALLY underrated movie i think you'd love. From disney as well, its called "The Treasure Planet" An re-imagined adaptation of the novel "The treasure island" from author H.G. Wells. FIRE movie
The whole sequence in Doug's lab is a big reference to the series Breaking Bad. His henchmen/co-workers Woolter and Jesse are also references to the characters Walter and Jesse from the series.
Otters can eat sea urchins, which are an animal that looks like a spiky ball. Otters fur/skin is resistant to the spikes, and they can chew through the tough shell of the urchin.
I was thinking that at first but that is a bit more nuclear level. I'm now more equating it to when men in power or men in general call women honey, sweetie, little lady, etc., etc.

Oh, I thought it meant that if a male rabbit/bunny calls Judy cute, it's considered flirting and normal, but if another animal says "cute" to mean "adorable," it's a little weird because they aren't rabbits like her, so having children would be weird. Although, I guess both could be correct, it just depends on your interpretation

One of many things i thought was interesting about this film, was that usually the main characters dream is what they pursue the whole film and achieve at the end but Judy does realize her dream of being the first Bunny cop early in the film, and it’s her having to deal with and what is part of her job and dream etc that the film focusses on for the rest of the film.
I remember going to see this movie in theaters with my best friend when it first came out. As soon as the DMV scene came on, the entire audience was howling with laughter.
fun fact...Doug showed up earlier in the film, twice! he was the truck driver who nearly hit Nick when we first met the fox and he was the ram reporter who asked the question that caused Judy to mention predator's going savage being due to biology
The smaller fox is a Fennec Fox, they are the smallest fox species, generally found in the Sahara. About the size of a house cat, with huge ears... the little guy is an adult, just of small stature and ridiculous cuteness. Also, Mr. Big is an Arctic Shrew, tiny terrifying predators and scavengers, because of their size and living in a cold environment they have a metabolism set on hyperdrive. Meaning they need to eat about twice their body weight a day to keep it fueled and themselves alive. Thank goodness they mostly eat bugs. If one of them was somehow made the size of a house cat (0r Fennec Fox😉) I think I'd be more scared of the Shrew than a normal sized Wolverine... which would be like 3-5 (or more) times the size.
Fun fact: giant river otters are little devious homicidal creatures they scare jaguars to stay on land and not going into the water and jaguars love hunting caiman IN water
When you think about it,this movie tackles a lot of really deep themes in such a magnific way it meets the quality filter for everyone to watch it: -Racism,as shown by the fear mammals have towards carnivorous animals,aka predators -Drugs,as shown by the product that makes the animals aggresive and mindless -Corruption,as shown by Bellweather's purposes by her government -Mobs and mafias,represented in a really explicit way by Mr.Big's business -Police corruption(maybe I'm stretching a bit,but we could count the way they treated Judy as police corruption right?)

There are very few land animals that would be able to beat, or even stand up against a Polar bear Also I believe the "cute" for bunnies thing is a play on how black people call each other the n-word but when others do it... you know? lol There's a short story on Disney+ about how the Vole(?) became a crime boss
The part I loved about this whole movie is the Mr. Big's reference to Godfather. You should have watched how he started as an immigrant kid selling canolis baked by his Gram-mama and then going on to become a crime boss by having all the immigrants band together to protect themselves and to give back to their community, like the Italian mafia in USA back then. And if you have seen how nice Gram-mama is, you would have known that Nick really did her dirty. They are a crime syndicate that protects the downtrodden and rejects and take them in like family, and Nick being a fox is definitely one of them when he probably first started. This video with Don didn't show the part, but when Mr. Big mentioned how he welcomed Nick into his home and Gram-mama baked him a canoli treating him with hospitality like a family, you can see Nick looking down in shame and possibly regret.
If you enjoyed this movie, I would recommend checking anime called Beastars. The series follows in similar kind of setting a wolf called Legoshi, who is feeling as a failure as a carnivore because he is very timid and shy person. He struggles also as a teenager trying to navigating high school and constantly being confronted by other animals' perception of wolves and big animals (Aka wolves are strong and aggressive and always up to trouble). However his life gets more complicated when he meets a rabbit student that he start forming feelings for but also starts to form bloodlust for as a predator which is huge tabboo. I feel like Beastars is natural continuetion to the ideas that zootopia had planted. You can tell from the director's interviews and deleted scenes that they wanted to go to darker places with the consept but they were forced to pull back. Beastars doesn't have these kind of limitations and can fully explore the R-rated section in the eyes of shy wolf boy. Some people tend to pit these two stories against each other but I apprechiate them as their own individual creations for two very different aged audiences.

A predator is really just an Animal that eats meat most of the time. Otters are predators the same way a Tiger is. Foxes are also predators, after all they are related to wolves and coyotes. Also to answer the question "Which would win, Lion or Polar Bear?". A single Lion don't stand a chance against a Polar Bear. Polar Bears are the deadliest of Bears, while Lions aren't even the deadliest of big Cats, not to mention, Polar Bears are hyper carnivores, they eat nothing, but meat, and they can track their prey from miles away.
"...who would win, a lion or a polar bear..." Unless that polar bear is female, and below average for females, the lion has _zero_ chance. The lion is clearly male (mane), and they top out in the wild at 190 kg. Female polar bears come in between 150 kg and 250 kg, average around 200 kg. Having 10 kg on someone is a pretty big advantage already. If that polar bear were a _guy,_ the the lion has no chance at all, as male polar bears are about 450 kg. Both are hunting predators that attack big prey, sharp claws, killers, so... that's all even. "...can't fire her..." For insubordination? For moving beyond her assignment? For taking an assignment instead of having it given to her through proper channels? For interfering in a case being worked on by others? Yeah, he can. She's on the bottom of the tier list, doing initial boring work. It's where people start in jobs like this most often. Then they get a chance to move up, if they're lucky, and work at something better or different. In her case, putting her on parking duty even makes a lot of sense. She's not _from_ that city, being on parking duty gives her the chance to learn the city itself. That said... this is a weird system. Meter maids are _literally_ not police officers. They don't carry weapons, they can't make arrests, and so on. They're just government employees who wander around doing the job. It'd be an _insane_ waste of training to have them do that job. "...it's not a baby, 'cause that voice is deep..." Fennec fox. A smaller, African version of a fox. Tiny, vicious. _Cute!_ "...what does cute mean when it's from other people..." This movie is a stand-in for bigotry of all sorts. In LGBT culture, for instance, it's largely okay for one gay guy to call another gay guy a 'f-g', but it's an insult when used from the outside. You get the same with black people calling each other 'n-gger', but it's a problem when others say it. _Personally_ I think that sort of distinction is garbage. If you're gonna accept the word, accept the word. Imagine someone coming up to you and screaming at you that you're straight, or that you have brown eyes. You'd really just stare at them funny. I think this is the only way to end this sort of discrimination and hate. Moreover, I think it's _actually racist_ and bigoted to have the words work that way. If what you're allowed to say is dictated by your race or sexuality, I can't see how that's anything _other than_ bigotry. So either the word is banned _for everyone_ or it's allowed _for everyone._ No exceptions. But, unfortunately, the rules aren't based on _sense,_ they're based on _feelings._ "...that's how we see animals..." Um... not really. That's how we see them when we're pretty far away. I _think,_ from context, Vole is supposed to be someone like Perry Como, quite popular in certain circles, but niche rather than mainstream. This fits with the look and the 'velvety pipes' description. In other words, something you wouldn't expect in the average music collection. On the other hand, it could just as easily be him geeking out over someone more famous and mainstream like Shakira or Justin Bieber. "...why would you do that to a crime boss..." We often get locked in patterns. He runs hustles. Once you start, and it's how you survive, it's hard to stop. Even when it makes sense not to, he likely just... saw opportunity and took it instead of thinking his way through it all. "...because it's in their DNA..." And now you see how prejudice starts. "...this movie was top tier..." You should rewatch yourself going through it and see all the times you made assumptions about various creatures in this movie based on what they were. How you thought a shrew couldn't be in charge of a crime organization. Why would polar bears work for a shrew. Or how a sheep makes no sense as the assassin. This whole movie is about shoving in our faces the assumptions we make, the prejudices we have, based on appearance. Don't get me wrong. We're _all_ susceptible to it, and I know _I_ am, and I try to overcome it every day. And yet you're right. The movie _is_ top tier. More than this, though, it's showing that just because some media is aimed at kids doesn't mean it _has_ to be childish. It can be done in ways that _everyone_ can enjoy. This movie, along with a few others, are top tier animation because they don't treat their audience like idiots. If a kid is lacking the intelligence at that time in their life to appreciate this, they'll like the pretty colors. A kid in the mid-tier will internalize some of the message. And old kids (ie, adults) can enjoy it, too. That's what makes this movie so epic, along with a very few others. Your reactions are _so_ much fun to watch! Have a nice day!

As someone who nearly lost an eye to a rabbit, they are very underratedly vicious (or can be, at least). Those back legs are just fluff and pure muscle, so Judy using them against Gideon was a great detail.

One of many things i thought was interesting about this film, was that usually the main characters dream is what they pursue the whole film and achieve at the end
but Judy does realize her dream of being the first Bunny cop early in the film, and it’s her having to deal with and what is part of her job and dream etc that the film focusses on for the rest of the film.
I remember going to see this movie in theaters with my best friend when it first came out. As soon as the DMV scene came on, the entire audience was howling with laughter.

The smaller fox is a Fennec Fox, they are the smallest fox species, generally found in the Sahara. About the size of a house cat, with huge ears... the little guy is an adult, just of small stature and ridiculous cuteness. Also, Mr. Big is an Arctic Shrew, tiny terrifying predators and scavengers, because of their size and living in a cold environment they have a metabolism set on hyperdrive. Meaning they need to eat about twice their body weight a day to keep it fueled and themselves alive. Thank goodness they mostly eat bugs. If one of them was somehow made the size of a house cat (0r Fennec Fox😉) I think I'd be more scared of the Shrew than a normal sized Wolverine... which would be like 3-5 (or more) times the size.

-Drugs,as shown by the product that makes the animals aggresive and mindless
-Corruption,as shown by Bellweather's purposes by her government
-Mobs and mafias,represented in a really explicit way by Mr.Big's business
-Police corruption(maybe I'm stretching a bit,but we could count the way they treated Judy as police corruption right?)

The part I loved about this whole movie is the Mr. Big's reference to Godfather. You should have watched how he started as an immigrant kid selling canolis baked by his Gram-mama and then going on to become a crime boss by having all the immigrants band together to protect themselves and to give back to their community, like the Italian mafia in USA back then. And if you have seen how nice Gram-mama is, you would have known that Nick really did her dirty. They are a crime syndicate that protects the downtrodden and rejects and take them in like family, and Nick being a fox is definitely one of them when he probably first started.
This video with Don didn't show the part, but when Mr. Big mentioned how he welcomed Nick into his home and Gram-mama baked him a canoli treating him with hospitality like a family, you can see Nick looking down in shame and possibly regret.

If you enjoyed this movie, I would recommend checking anime called Beastars.
The series follows in similar kind of setting a wolf called Legoshi, who is feeling as a failure as a carnivore because he is very timid and shy person. He struggles also as a teenager trying to navigating high school and constantly being confronted by other animals' perception of wolves and big animals (Aka wolves are strong and aggressive and always up to trouble). However his life gets more complicated when he meets a rabbit student that he start forming feelings for but also starts to form bloodlust for as a predator which is huge tabboo.
I feel like Beastars is natural continuetion to the ideas that zootopia had planted. You can tell from the director's interviews and deleted scenes that they wanted to go to darker places with the consept but they were forced to pull back. Beastars doesn't have these kind of limitations and can fully explore the R-rated section in the eyes of shy wolf boy. Some people tend to pit these two stories against each other but I apprechiate them as their own individual creations for two very different aged audiences.

A predator is really just an Animal that eats meat most of the time. Otters are predators the same way a Tiger is. Foxes are also predators, after all they are related to wolves and coyotes. Also to answer the question "Which would win, Lion or Polar Bear?". A single Lion don't stand a chance against a Polar Bear. Polar Bears are the deadliest of Bears, while Lions aren't even the deadliest of big Cats, not to mention, Polar Bears are hyper carnivores, they eat nothing, but meat, and they can track their prey from miles away.

Unless that polar bear is female, and below average for females, the lion has _zero_ chance. The lion is clearly male (mane), and they top out in the wild at 190 kg. Female polar bears come in between 150 kg and 250 kg, average around 200 kg. Having 10 kg on someone is a pretty big advantage already. If that polar bear were a _guy,_ the the lion has no chance at all, as male polar bears are about 450 kg. Both are hunting predators that attack big prey, sharp claws, killers, so... that's all even.

She's not _from_ that city, being on parking duty gives her the chance to learn the city itself.
That said... this is a weird system. Meter maids are _literally_ not police officers. They don't carry weapons, they can't make arrests, and so on. They're just government employees who wander around doing the job. It'd be an _insane_ waste of training to have them do that job.

This movie is a stand-in for bigotry of all sorts. In LGBT culture, for instance, it's largely okay for one gay guy to call another gay guy a 'f-g', but it's an insult when used from the outside. You get the same with black people calling each other 'n-gger', but it's a problem when others say it.
_Personally_ I think that sort of distinction is garbage. If you're gonna accept the word, accept the word. Imagine someone coming up to you and screaming at you that you're straight, or that you have brown eyes. You'd really just stare at them funny. I think this is the only way to end this sort of discrimination and hate. Moreover, I think it's _actually racist_ and bigoted to have the words work that way. If what you're allowed to say is dictated by your race or sexuality, I can't see how that's anything _other than_ bigotry. So either the word is banned _for everyone_ or it's allowed _for everyone._ No exceptions. But, unfortunately, the rules aren't based on _sense,_ they're based on _feelings._

You should rewatch yourself going through it and see all the times you made assumptions about various creatures in this movie based on what they were. How you thought a shrew couldn't be in charge of a crime organization. Why would polar bears work for a shrew. Or how a sheep makes no sense as the assassin. This whole movie is about shoving in our faces the assumptions we make, the prejudices we have, based on appearance. Don't get me wrong. We're _all_ susceptible to it, and I know _I_ am, and I try to overcome it every day.
And yet you're right. The movie _is_ top tier. More than this, though, it's showing that just because some media is aimed at kids doesn't mean it _has_ to be childish. It can be done in ways that _everyone_ can enjoy. This movie, along with a few others, are top tier animation because they don't treat their audience like idiots. If a kid is lacking the intelligence at that time in their life to appreciate this, they'll like the pretty colors. A kid in the mid-tier will internalize some of the message. And old kids (ie, adults) can enjoy it, too. That's what makes this movie so epic, along with a very few others.
