8:20 the Maxace Neptune uses 2 springs for the OTF mechanism. Also the locking tabs for both extension and retraction sides are doubled (not that it needs both but adds a certain degree of security, since you never know when water and salt inside those tiny cavities can corrode the springs). Sanmai steel is 三枚 in Chinese / Japanese Kanji, stands for "three pieces" = sandwiched. The center part is Hitachi SLDmagic, easy to sharpen and holds a fine edge quite long (like close to S30V performance), and you got double edges on this OTF so at least there's always a backup blade around...turn it around that is. The problem with this steel is it stains easily with just the sweat on your hands. This problem is somewhat compensated by the knife's OTF nature since opening and closing requires no finger touching the blade at all. If the finger do come in contact with the blade during deploy, take care of that finger before wiping the blade clean please.
Brands like civivi, kizer, and kansept are pretty much dominating this price point. Hard to argue with them having sales all the time, making lots of thier 150$+ "premium" models swing for under 150$. All have very solid output performances and are great when you wanna extend your collection and try new designs by very competent designers who work with them. Great list. Lots of variety to get people thinking.

There’s something about Hogue. I can’t put my finger on it, but it’s always like their models resemble pocket knives that were popular like 20yrs ago. I always get that “day late, dollar short” impression when I look at their stuff. Idk 🤷🏼♂️. It’s hard to describe. There’s no “fizz” with their knives.
