My ranking 9,1,11,10 yes you can call me Jesus a Christ, but they did my boy Baraka dirty in Mortal Kombat 10 and I’ll never forgive them for making me do that to my favorite mk character
I seriously worry that NRS shot themselves in the foot with the time travel idea in MK11 and now they're never gonna be able to leave that time travel / timeline theme

I need a summary of what happened in the two story DLC for MK11. Crazy it’s still last place.
With the release of 1, it further pushed it down everyone's list. The new one right a lot of wrongs that 11 did. And for the DLC? They just continue from the original ending by introducing a few new characters to the roster and do a speedrun through time to get Kronika's McGuffin, her poop crown of time, to bring it to Liu Kang, with Shang Tsung OF COURSE betraying everyone and Liu Kang going toe to toe with Shang Tsung for the crown and you can pick whichever fighter you wanna play at the end. Which also ties in neatly with the follow up game. MK11 may be balanced by """popular opinion""" *Vomits* ... but it also comes with its own bag of issues, sadly, far more than the other 3 titles, yeah, balance and all, but it's to the point everything feels sterile and same-y, not to mention combo routes also lack variety heavily in that game, limiting you to just a few options, specially if you're on a competitive focus with MK11, it's as it always been, the "rock, paper, scissors" kind of logic to blocking and punishing moves but there's far less of all three of those options in 11. That's why it's low on people's list, at least more diehard fans.
mk1 story near the end was just like mk11 you can't say it righted wrongs if it did the same thing such as multi timelines and same premise i mean the crown used for the dead army is so ripped off of mk11
@@ghostwolf5254 MK11 is ass. The story is the best part. Nobody is complaining about MK11 story, it's literally the best part. MK11 gameplay is literally the worst of the modern ones. MK1 fixed MK11 gameplay but that's about all it does.

Kronika is easily the worst villain in MK history and those timeline chaos doesn't make a sense (Like why are they only some of kharacters, but not the others? Kronika doesn't want Raiden in her new era, but she brings his younger version back? WTF is with logic here?)
I totally agree with your list but I think MK1 will climb up (a bit) in the future. The gameplay is the best I've experienced so far, but it needs a lot of improvements. And of course waaay less microtransactions and not stupid high prices for the Kombat Packs. I mean 40 bucks? Are they stupid?
What I miss most since MK9 are the stage fatalities and the sexy female outfits and please don't say "the actual outfits are more realistic" because MK has never been realistic at any point... Oh, and I miss Skarlet (again)! 😀
I'm cool with sexy females in MK, but it needs to make sense. Like why would Sonya Blade have his tits blatantly out? Why are Kitana and Jade in high positions, but they dress like they're concubines for Shao Kahn. I understand Milenna wearing skimpy clothes because of his lore. But basically everyone else makes no sense
@@swerve-experienceLet’s be honest has Sonya outfit ever made sense NO, she dressed like someone going to Planet Fitness or some Yoga class back in the original trilogy so he had it right MK was never realistic, Jade’s outfit was fine that does fit her character if you actually know her, Kitana’s best outfit was back in Shaolin Monks where it mixed her MK2 and a bit of MK3 into her outfit but yeah seriously I mean Kung Lao can pull a rabbit out of his hat lmao are we seriously trying to argue realism here.
Let's just hope NRS will keep the game alive for much longer and not abandon it like they did with MK11.

They did?! Lol. Recently I managed to play some online matches in Tekken 6 which came out in 2009. I'm sure situation with online was better in MK9, since the game is more popular. Very strange decision
Honestly I don’t really know how to rank these so, here’s how I’d do it.
1. MK9
2. MKX/11/1
Only thing I don’t like about MK9 is the Sindel massacre. Other than that this game is fantastic and my favorite fighting game, along with one of my all around favorite video games. The rest of the games have parts I love about them and parts I don’t know.
X - Has the best fighting overall but the story was kinda forgettable
11 - I love the amount of content this game has and I loved the story but it has the weakest fighting of these 4 games
1 - I loved the 1st 2/3s of the story but then the wackiness of the ending kinda lost me. The overall fighting here was a big improvement over 11 though but the game is also kinda lacking in content (at least right now)
That's a sensitive ranking. I haven't played MK1 yet, but I think I agree with you. MKX has the best fighting, except for maybe the X-Ray attacks, which you can abuse. But the story is better in MK11 (although I would argue very few people play Mortal Kombat for the story), and you get a lot of customization in that one
MK9 was great at rebooting the series. I'd say it's a turning point in the history of Mortal Kombat, because it brought people's attention back to the series, and it brought back the 2d fighting style, which I prefer

God MK9 suffers from being on last console. It feels floppy and looks way too goofy for the gore to have any effect. X is best

Completely agree with your list, I just hope that, as more content and basic features (yeah I know...) gets added to MK1, it would be a little bit better than MKX. Better than MK9? That's what I doubt a lot. The only thing that would rank this game lower on future tops when its lifespan ends would be its launch lack of content and bugs

@@kalepzazueta7890 yeah, I think MK9 is the best NRS MK but not by far, the story is good but only because it's a remake of what John Tobias wrote almost 20 years ago at that time (and it's still disrespectful to some characters and has a lot of plot holes, dumb desicions and Sindel carnage is a$$) and the gameplay, while probably the best (just probably, bc MKX is dope) has the biggest amount of bugs till this day. I think MK9 is so loved due to nostalgia, and undoubtedly it has the most single-player content, but not so ahead of X which is still my favourite overall, and just hope MK1 surpasses it someday
MK9 with Kratos alone is a total W over the rest
It's a remake of trilogy that doesn't add anything significantly new to the franchise and for that reason alone, it's the worst out of the NRS era

How it got delisted to even buy on the xbox store as Microsoft won't pony up for Krueger license so it got pulled. You can still buy the disc but it's pricey now.
8:20 I seriously only bought the ultimate version of the game just for the DLC characters and never had to pay another dime on it ever since, you can complete the entirety of the Krypt without paying anything on the koins

@@IsthatJosh mk11 had fun towers, a good krypt, could pin moves in training and customization was nuts whereas mk1 has a shrine that 9/10 times gives you concept art. It's got only one customization for each character and the roster is much smaller and invasions is boring.
@@ghostwolf5254 The shrine isn't great IMO, but the amount of concept art and music is actually pretty limited. Once you have them all the only thing you can unlock is gear and pallets.. And now with stuff being locked to 'seasons', you can actually run out of things to unlock until the season changes.
I'm sitting on 180k koins ATM, lol.. I'm more annoyed that I'll have sit through the animation 1k at a time until I inevitably run out things to unlock again...

Don’t like 11 at all. X is fun but the aesthetics are too dark and I’m not a huge fan of the overall roster or the different styles. One is cool for now but I feel compared to other MK games it’s lacking in content and the lack of crossplay now and the boring invasion mode puts it behind X in my opinion for now. 9 is perfection, probably the best MK game in general.

@@Sharky_0456 fair ranking, X is beloved by most people some even say it’s the best game in the series but I also felt like it was a major step down from 9. Gameplay is fast and fun but it’s not an MK game I go back and play often

I always liked MK X's story better than 9. It was cool to see Outworld politics, with the Mileena camp vs Kotal Kahn, and the new characters were cool. Whereas MK 9 was just a re-telling of the first 3 games, and a flawed one at that. But it was revolutionary since it was the first fighting game to do that sort of thing, so it's easy to look past the flaws. But MK X was better.

One thing I feel is that mk always experimented with new things and features sure it can not work sometimes but I feel like that adds to why people buy it aside from gameplay or story. I mean they could have just rehashed the same system from previous games with a bit of backlash. But I don’t even know what they innovate on using the mk formula without taking away from it.
IX is peak NetherRealm-era MK. It has the best art-style, variety, bonus content, characters, costumes, fatalities, dlc and story.

4: MKX. Hated how it looked, played, nothing substantial at all for singleplayer content. Kombat kids were krap
3: MK1. A lot i enjoyed from MK11 is missing. Not a fan of the kameo mechanic. Massive grind to unlock stuff. Shrine is a joke. Invasion seemed good when it was announced but again - a chore to play. Customisation is a massive stop down from MK11. It might be better when more characters are released and a few updates but right now, its very meh
2. MK11. one of my favourites the series. Big step up from X, looked great, story was good. Loved the krypt. Gameplay felt good to me. Customisation for skins and moves was a nice touch. A lot of single player content
1. MK9 hard to play now (sometimes play it on my Vita), but for the time. Incredible
I didn’t even need to use micro transactions because the full game all dlcs are on sale and it was only five dollars
I'm honestly surprised to see MK 11 so low. It's by far the best one, objectively. The revamped meter system, adding in crushing blows, making the fatal blows more usable in matches, making you feel like you're always in danger (you can't be so far ahead that you can't lose like you used to.) The variations are completely customizable, both in visuals and gameplay. The Krypt is by a huge margin the best Krypt in any MK. The Towers of Time, while they can feel a little grindy at times, particularly if you're gunning to be in the top 10% to unlock the Johnny Cage voice, are for the most part a really great way to keep playing once you beat the story. The only down side is there's no reason to play the standard arcade ladders since they don't give you currency. The Fatalities and Friendships (they brought back Friendships) in this game are the most creative and entertaining. Not just gory as hell, but really genuinely creative, almost like an art form.
MK X is good, but it's mostly just a grittier aesthetic but mechanically identical to MK 9. Both those games suffered from the problem of the meter system. Great players don't do the cool X-Rays because it's a waste of offense/defense meter; and for people like me the combo breaker which I always do by accident just wastes 2/3 of an X-Ray. There's no incentive to meter burn because I'd rather save up for X-Ray. The X-Rays themselves are also just cutscenes rather than a part of gameplay. MK 11 fixed all these issues.

I love all 4 of these games so my ranking doesn't mean I hate one of them. MK1 may be lacking in content but that will be fixed soon. Even though MK11 is so low on my list, I still love the game and it was really fun
Edit: MK9 is number 2 because it's important to me and it introduced me to Mortal Kombat. Sadly I can't play the game since my PS3 broke so that's why it's number 2

I love all four of the NRS games. Got them all on release and stayed with them through their entire life cycles(except 1 obviously) and I have to say X is my least favorite followed by 9 and 11 tied. I can’t rank 1 yet because even 100 hours in it’s still stupid early in its life to accurately judge.

Just switch mk1 and mk11, microtransactions and live service (aka modern gaming) made the games worse over time. Even if the gameplay or presentation got better the games were less and less for the players

My favorite MK of all time is MK 2, and MK 1 (the original not the new one) is probably in 2nd place.
However, all the modern ones that I've played have been amazing, each better than the last. I haven't tried the new one yet (waiting for all DLC to come out first) but MK 11 is arguably the best in the series in so many ways. MK X is the first one where I remember when it came out and the marketing campaign leading up to release. MK 9 was my introduction to Mortal Kombat. I didn't play it when it came out, but I remember seeing it at a friend's house as a kid and my mind could not comprehend how deliciously excessively gory those X-Rays were. Then years later I finally got it as an adult and it is an awesome re-telling of the first 3 games.
I never understood either why Tag Team never returned. It was one of MK 9's best features. And from the first trailer of MK 1 showing off cameos, my reaction was, "Isn't that just a lamer version of Tag Team?"
Another great thing about MK 9 I don't know if you mentioned was the Challenge Tower. I think MK 9 did that best. MK 11 has a similar "The Gauntlet" but it's not as good. MK 9's Challenge Tower is genuinely fun to play through, and the end reward for beating all 300 levels is a super sexy Mileena outfit.

MK9 was the best for me because ot perfectly mixed the old with the modern. It still had that same old retro MK vibe and the classic roster, but now with modern graphics and gameplay.
The only difference for me is putting x over 9. 9 was great but man the top tiers in multi-player (speedy boy, bumblebee, and yoga pants spec ops) absolutely manhandled every other character on the roster

Mk11 was a chess match for the experienced players. Mk1 is reckless community should be careful what it asks for
@eatonspielberg3066 for real there is just so much going on in the combos and it feels like the input timing is way harder than mk11 I seriously would get stuck on most of the combo training moves for like 30 minutes or more
MK9 is by far the best MK game out of the recent next-generation games. I like to add they had the best design hands down, Smoke, Jade, Sonya, Kitana, Scarlet, and Jhonny are all better than the newer designs they have gotten over the years.

Yeah that was disappointing. They should've kept Dark Rayden as a villain for this game, especially since they were going to reset the timelines at the end anyway. Still, I think the story was still a lot of fun merging the past with the future, and seeing those interactions.

@michellepatino8733 simply not true, 11 introduced clunkier more punishing combos across the board where as x still had a free-form system that didn't punish you so harshly, 11 refined the system from injustice 2 which works great for injustice but doesn't translate to the speed of mortal kombat as well, it's still a solid game but x removed a lot of combat features in favor of adding a perfect guard system

Mk1 is my last favourite MK game I've ever played.

Mk 1 is the worst. I hate that it is not 1v1 Kombat and the stupid cameos are annoying and gimmicky
In terms or roster, story and side content MK9 is the best
In terms of gameplay and mechanics MKX is the best and it's not even close
Mk9 and Mkx are next level. Mk 11
Is lame af, mk1 is great but not the overall best.

Don't get me wrong, 9 is fantastic but it's just a remake of trilogy. I'm not a fan of remakes because they're lazy. 9 adds absolutely nothing new of significance to the franchise
9 was literally the mortal kombat that added X-rays what are you talking about and it wasn’t even a straight up remake it was a reboot with some major changes to the trilogy series

11, 10, 9, 1. 1 only wins for me due to the amazing fighting. 9 is great because of everything, 10 very fun fighting and great fighting, not as good story as 9 and not as fun fighting as 1, and 11 is just 11. Didn't care for it, beated the story and that's it.
