    Yup. Acne continues☹️ I really thought acne was behind me at 58. Recently I had some gigantic underground blemishes on nose and chin. I think it was a combination of changing seasons and a serum that had an oil in it I don’t think agreed with my skin. A huge thank you for all your hair repair advice. After years of bleaching highlights on my sandy blond hair, I stopped and deepened my color. I’ve followed your repair product advice and things are really improving.❤

      Try taking plain niacin twice a day. You'll have the niacin flush, but it passes quickly. Within two months I had perfect skin, seriously. I started niacin 12 years ago twice a day. It's marvelous.

      Wow! I wonder if that'll be me. I am 38 and still get pimples every month. Pimple face is all I known since 15 years old. My mom gets random bumps on her face but it's due to her chemo it seems. I don't think they're acne.

    GIRLLL... I bit my nails down to the cuticle for 20 years straight. I FINALLY grew them out fully, and the NUMBER 1 thing I attribute to their speedy growth is honestly just a soak of very warm water, a tsp of olive oil and a vitamin E gel tablet that I would pierce open and squeeze into the mix. It sounded hokey and I didnt expect good results, but after literal decades of buying serums and treatments, I did that soak 3 times a week and they grew like CRAZY.

    Hi Abbey! Can you consider these ideas?
    - Updated UV damage video on hair
    - The effects of hard water on skin and hair
    - The science of hard water interacting with your products and how the weather can make things worse.
    I was doing everything right for my skin and hair and it was fine in the summer. Winter came and my skin freaked out and all of my hair products felt like they weren't working. The cold weather mixed with the 100% hard water i have really made all of my stuff stop working. I finally figured out that it was my water, not anything I was doing. I didn't find a lot of creators talking about the science behind these things, and I think it would be a really beneficial thing for a content creator of your following to talk about it. I think a lot of people deal with this and they don't even know about it.
    Thank you! I started watching your vids this year ❤

    • @AbbeyYung
      @AbbeyYung  20 днів тому +23

      Hi! I have looked into potentially creating a hard water related video before but there just wasn’t enough published data on it… I’ll keep checking! ❤

    • @KatelynNelson-j5c
      @KatelynNelson-j5c 20 днів тому +4

      @AbbeyYung I've been having a hard time finding stuff, too. I'm going to be getting a filter soon. I switched to a hard water shampoo, and that helped out my hair a little bit. My hair was looking so nice in the summer, and then it got cold, and it felt like my products were sitting on the outside of my hair. The cold and the mineral build up was blocking anything from working. It took me almost 2 months to figure it out. My skin got worse, too. I think a lot of people try to do what's right in their routines, and I think this might be the unknown culprit for a lot of people. I was piling on more products until I researched more about water. I think a lot of people just aren't even aware of it.

    There are some definite things i need to try! Also, as someone who got dry eye disease from retinol use (from migration, I never put it around my eyes) I wish doctors would make this more of an issue. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. It changes your life. I can't wear ANY eye makeup and have few days where I can even wear my contacts, they hurt so bad.

      I have severe dry eye and have tried everything from nose sprays to lasers, etc., etc., nothing has helped. In my case, it is caused by the 30+ years of wearing contacts which I can no longer wear. I have been dealing with it for 5 years and am waiting for new products to come out to try and help.

    • @TiffanyRiddle-rh3yq
      @TiffanyRiddle-rh3yq День тому

      I had the same thing happen to me from using vitamin a. It caused dry eye disease/meibomian gland dysfunction. I never put the retinoid close to my eyes. My eye doctor said that vitamin a is so strong that even a microscopic speck can migrate to your eyes overnight and cause this. Also, he thinks that the vitamin a can actually kill the glands in your eyes through the skin even if it doesn’t get into your eye. He said it hasn’t been proven but it’s one of his theories. I cannot use anything now with any form of vitamin a derivative including retinol, retinyl palimate, etc. it always flared them back up! It truly causes terrible pain and I wish I would have never touched retinoids.

And the Neutrogena Lip Sleeping Mask Balm in a tube, at Walmart for $7. Both Inexpensive and effective. I use the Naked Bee when out in Winter as it’s a stick balm, but also use both at night. I also started getting random breakouts in my early 30s & I got Zineryt prescribed. I still have that on request from my doctor but now I only get breakouts when I eat too much cheese or due to hormone changes (I am now in perimenopause). HRT helped me. I was getting huge red bumps around my mouth and chin, very sore under the skin with no head. Zineryt stopped them getting huge but doesn't treat the cause. Dairy is definitely a trigger for me.

    Hi Abbey!!! Love the EADEM, at your recommendation!! Have you tried the IMAGE Skincare, ORMEDIC pH Balancing Lip Enhancement Complex? I think you might really like it! I use the sheer pink but there's an original one also.

    I switched to tazaroten this year due to tretinoin being harder to access now in Canada, and I could not be happier. I'm getting wayyy better results, my skin is less irritated, the formula is sooo elegant and nice to use (i'm using arazlo). I was really scared to make the switch but it has been such an improvement of my skincare routine.

    Clinique moisture surge lips? I recently tried the laneige lip mask and it destroyed my lips. What a rip off! I actually ended up using the Clinique moisture surge face lotion to get them feeling normal again. My lips were soaking it up like crazy. I might try this lip product because as of right now Vaseline is the only thing I trust.

    I tried de la cruz sulfur mask after all the viral hype on social media and my face was swollen for 3 days even my eyes got swollen and I didn't put the mask under my eyes. It got so bad I had to take antihistamines everyday it took me an entire week to make my skin look normal. I still don't understand why it happened. And this was the only new product I introduced.

    ❤️Loving Medik8 Crystal Retinal Ceramide Eye 6💥 I used Tret around my eyes for decades, but after menopause it was leaving the area dryer. Love that this is in 3 strengths, so I can always go up if I like❣️I follow this with a moisturizer or the LRP cica gel✨ I’m using the sulphur mask 1-2x a week too with no issues (❣️Dr Dray💥)😊 OMG why would OPI have such a “treatment “⁉️Kerasal is good stuff! They also have an ointment treatment I put on every night (you only need a little bit).

    I strangely find the LRP cicaplast gel and Prequel skin utility gel more moisturizing and long lasting than Prequel skin utility balm. At this moment, I'm unsure if I prefer Prequel or LRP. The balm pills sometimes. I am almost out of it and curious to try LRP cicaplast balm next. Does anyone know if LRP balm pills? Is it sticky or oily?

    I have watched maybe 20 videos of yours over the last three days and made notes and purchases but I have a question. You mentioned in one video, and I can’t recall which, that you also have a spot at the back of your head that gets itchy and weird and one treatment you use just for that spot but I can’t remember what it was and didn’t write it down! I have that same area at the base of my skull/spine and want to try your recommendation. Please save me from hours of research!

    Can u explain to me why u put the cicoplast before your moisturizer. I always thought to use your serums and retinol then a moisturizer and then something like the cicoplast or I’ve been using the Cerave healing ointment. I just have used it like that to lock it all in and to help with any kind of irritation from my tret. I’m thinking about changing that though bcuz of what u said in this video about how u put it on b4 your moisturizer. Can u explain to me why u do that? Thank u so much for all of your transparency about your skin journey and letting us know what u use and why.

    Abbey! I have a question regarding waxing & retinol😬 I normally would wax my mustache however once I waxed it while using retinal and got bad scars 🙂 took me a while to figure out it was because of retinal usage. Would you recommend me to not put retinal on that area at all or it’s better if I stop using retinal for 1 week (or maybe more?) before waxing? Also I’m kinda transferring to tretinol so scars could be even worse I fear 😅 or how should I deal with it?
