Just came here to check Lars double bass during the verses.
Man, that guy has really been stepping up his game over last few years
He uses triggers now! It does home justice cuz when he plays fast double bass ...in the past a mic wouldn’t do home just cuz the kicks would disappear in the mix.

Otherwise it just used to fade out amongst all the loud instruments on the show

they played it already a couple times. and lars is not using the double bass so hard and fast live like on the studio version
@@JohRauh66695 yeah, but he's improved so much since the last time (Melbourne 2010, correct me if I'm wrong) that he may pull it off this time.
Any time they've played Dyers Eve, Lars wimped out on the double bass. While his double bass has improved recently, I suspect he wouldn't do it if they played Dyers Eve now. At his age, I'm not sure he could even do it. That's a lot of really fast double bass for most of the song.
Now I wanna see positive comments about Lars' double bass

this is actually one of my favorite hardwired songs now. shame that it wasnt part of the main 2 cds. imagine this song (with the intro) opening all of hardwired

James Yates I think it was kept off because the theme doesn’t fit the theme of the album, but also people already knew the song from when they released the (inferior) first pass version a couple of years earlier.
@Schwer Dunkel I also prefer it better than spit out the bone. I can listen to it without getting burnt out on it
This is the song I listen to when I am burnt out of listening to Atlas (My Second Favorite Metallica song) on repeat
Not technically a hardwired song, it’s a single they released a couple years prior to the making of hardwired. They just re-recorded it and through it in on the bonus disc.
If Lars can play lords of summer double bass he can play dyers eve with double bass too
Dyers eve has like what? 6-7 double bass parts lol... That is not gonna happen. Maybe if it is raining and it is the first 1-3 songs, but otherwise nope

Well this double bass pattern is at 160 bpm .... Dyers Eve it's almost 200 . And as a drummer i can tell you , the faster you want to play the harder you have to practice . I think that if they want Lars to play the double bass in Dyers eve , they need to slow it down a bit .

Most parts of the vocals are really very good in the song, but in the second verse James struggles a lot with the high notes...!
Still, I love how he sings for many years. Quite clear and most of the time he gets the high notes across well!
I forgot the last couple minutes of the song really takes off.
I'm surprised that Lars actually nailed the double bass part on this song and is still alive the next day.
