'The Wind that Cradles the Clouds' for solo marimba (5 oct.) by Joey Eng

    This piece, as the title suggests, was composed with the clouds and the sky in mind. At first, it started out as an improvisation that I would play around with to escape a very busy schedule, but as time moved on and the widespread panic of COVID-19 grew, the piece’s meaning was moulded into something else. Now, I like to think that this piece is about a search for a silver lining amongst hardship; that is to find comfort and a clearing in a sky full of clouds.

    I love the writing and performance of this piece so much that I decided to start learning it! Its a really fun piece. Thanks for writing this and also what mallets are you using and what type of hardness are they?
