Saudade is a Portuguese word that very loosely means 'the love that remains.' It is a term that is used to denote the melancholic feeling of missing someone or something; a bittersweet emotion, as it is both a feeling of sadness due to their absence and a feeling of nostalgic joy from their memory. This piece is my attempt at painting this feeling in music.

So beautiful ahhhhh :0 I've never heard the marimba played with as much sensitivity and passion as you put into it. You have a real ability to speak profoundly through your compositions, keep making music and blessing people Joey :)

Very nice Joey! Ah, a breath of fresh air relative to literature that is tonal with an abundant possibilities of emotion to evoke. More of this genre of marimba playing is greatly needed; particularly in the U.S. where so many atrocities exist. Bravo!

It’s a fairly challenging work however it is very idiomatic, so there’s nothing that should feel too awkward under the hands. The octaves are probably the most challenging bit!
