I want to add one historical thing about this perfume. Pakistans prime minister zulfiqar Ali bhutto who was Hanged By the army ,he wished to wear Shalimar perfume at the time of hanging and he wore this perfume as he said its beautiful and i wana go to my God With good smell ... wht a historical thing

I’m a straight guy and I love shalimar EDP. Never had anything negative only have had positive compliments
Such an excellent, informative video. I was wearing Shalimar yesterday, and asking my wife if she found it to be too feminine for me. She doesn't think so, and neither do I.
The opening, as so eloquently stated in the video, is nothing shy of magic. Bold, beautiful, intoxicating.
40 minutes after application, after the initial salvo has quieted, is where the craftsmanship of this masterpiece becomes undeniable.
I have NEVER had someone say that I smelled "feminine" wearing this, but have had both men and women ask what I was wearing, or say things like "you smell great".
O go fairly light on this one, largely due to the quality of the perfume.
Two light sprays on the neck, one pn a wrist, then touch the other wrist.
At home, I spray a bit more. Love wearing this when I'm just hanging out at home, or spending time in my workshop.
I love the scholastic aspect of your videos brother. Terrific job as always.

Video is Packed full of info. Very old pleasing kinda beautiful blend. It's an good example of western perfumary. While I was learning perfumary this was given as the classic example of oriental spicy fragrance.

In this newish fragrance “collecting” pursuit of mine, my prerequisite in buying a fragrance-besides smelling good-is that it has to be unique. I’ve been hemming and hawing about whether or not I should buy Shalimar. Being a famous classic, it is hardly unique, but you’ve convinced me! This is going on my 2019 buy list. You’re such an influencer! (Good influence or bad influence..? Lol) Cheers!

Yes yes - and this is one case in which one of the greatest short film adverts of all time was made to go along with the modern 'Shalimar' - it was filmed by the great Bruno Aveillan, starring Willy Cartier and Natalia Vodianova, called 'La Legende de Shalimar' and it's available on-line on UA-cam and it is a MUST watch if you have not seen it.

OMG, my heart stopped for a second in 01:05 😯💗 Proper review for this masterclass gem, bhai Nikhil! Smelled back in the 90s a mesmerizing scent cloud around a sophisticated woman. Gave her a huge compliment. It was... SHALIMAR (even the name itself is genious spot on!). Intoxicating and pure olfactory seduction. Every woman should have at least one bottle of it in their perfume wardrobe. Have a nice sunday! ☕🌞👍

To me-in cooler weather Shalimar is wonderful and when it gets wormer,one could switch to Habit Rouge...Both are perfectly unisex..
I lack the profoundness of your knowledge,yet I am deeply convinced that studying Guerlain perfumes is a wonderful base for developing a sensibility for masterfully creations(as they were considered by generations).By no means I am excluding other houses.It is like in arts-We should start from at least one classic and then enjoy the hip-hop..
Anyway-you are blessed to be part of the millennial culture of using incences,oud and spices..So for the rest of us we can only learn!

I’m a man and I’ve worn shalimar to work. Each time I wore it I received compliments. Strong citrus and leather notes. It is pure elegance in a bottle.

I just got a bottle of Shalimar EDP. It smelled like a cleaning solution. I kept it on for an hour then washed it off. The smell that remained after a good washing was like the Shalimar that I remember. What happened to this fragrance? Was it the IFRA regulations?
Great video, Nikhil! Shalimar is in my top 5 favorite perfumes of all time. I’m afraid you haven’t tried this perfume how it was originally intended to be experienced though. The perfume was initially released as a Parfum (Extrait) only (EDP concentration started in the late 70s/80s) and while the modern EDP is incredible, the Parfum is the true experience of Jacques original masterful vision. It’s other worldly even in modern formulation. It is very pricey though, $350 USD for 30ml. Let me know when you try it, man, have a great day.

Hi,I have this lovely perfume in pure perfume extract and it is in a bottle with a glass stopper which is the best way to apply. I am afraid that the glass stopper if applied and you want to apply a little more that the dipping into the bottle and applying this way will make the perfume go off. Can you advise how to apply when you have a glass stopper like this to apply your perfume.Thanking you. Just found your videos today and I'm happy about that. Patricia

Me and my father love this perfume but the only issue is that it doesn't last really long and there's no projection. I guess this is the main reason I love it too much. There's a personal touch to it. I bought shalimar along with a guerlain lipstick on in 2020.

Perfumery.co.in is not a place for genuine perfumes , always stick to retail outlets or boutiques for guerlain , infact nikhil sir also in a video told not to buy from that site. Cause they sale expired , old perfumes mostly and unboxed testers means replicas . Personal experience ☹️ , why to take risk for few bucks when it comes to originality, ...try , test and buy from official importers

I've spent years and years to find Shalimar from '60-ies, and Opium from '70-ies, and NOBODY knows THE most important thing : If you have an vintage perfume, made with intention to laaaast for decades, and be physico-chemicaly stable (= retain its top-notes for long time) - IT MUST BE STORED IN ADEQUATE FRIDGE, possibly dedicated only for perfumes, and with some kind of tight sealed package over the bottle itself...

I used to wear Shalimar sometimes when I was in my early twenties (the end of 1990's). I had a friend, and his apartment always smelled like wow! I asked what it was, and he showed me the Shalimar bottle, and told me he used to spray a little in the air when he knew I was coming to visit. He himself also smelled divine, and it was of course the Shalimar he used. I borrowed it every time I was at his house. It was the best ever perfume I had ever smelled. But, since it was a ladies perfume, I felt very strongly that I could not wear it too much, and for sure not buy it. Even if it was and still is the best french style perfume I have used. I am grown up in a society where mens and ladies perfumes are strictly divided. And I believed that a long time, actually until a year or two ago, when I discovered arab perfumes and that they had no such boundary at all. So now I definately should buy Shalimar and wear it. If the arabs can, why can't I? Many of the scents I wear today could be misunderstood to be womens perfume. But it is not, it is arabic. But back then it felt very wrong. Which is a shame. And french perfumery is to blame for setting up this fence between men and women. It should be torn down immediately. I can start by buying Shalimar. But I have to smell it first, since I have heard it is not the same as it was. Anyway, Shalimar was and perhaps is a perfume like nothing else.
I’m a straight guy and I wear Shalimar EDP, personality I hate aquatics and freshies.
Shalimar is bold vanilla, citrus, incense and wood, all things I really love rolled into one.
I personally think it should be marketed as unisex.

This is a quintessenyially feminine scent. It is for women, not men.
