I just got a V85TT with large windscreen, center stand, heated grips, and hard boxes. Like a beautiful woman with a few quirks i love this bike.Hi from Seattle.
I drove a 2022 V85-TT some six months ago. 1 no throttle response issues to me, actually I was surprised how responsive it is. 2. No vibrations at all. 3. Heat - Its an air-oil cooled engine. (9) come on this is an 80hp do you need a semi-active suspension. There is low and high seat options. This is an 80hp, do not accept a 170hp MS-V4 performance and what comes with it....
Exactly ! It is not made for drivers who are used to very comfortable and effortless ride style. This bike is made for a riders with passion and for those who love classic motorcycle riding without unnecessary technological innovations.

I bought a new 2021 Moto Guzzi V85tt; it is my 45th motorcycle in 53 years of riding, & my 4th Italian motorcycle. I have ridden 20,000 km on it with zero issues.
It is easily in the top 5 of all the bikes I have owned for ease of maintenance, travelling comfort, and lack of issues.
If you are the type of person who cannot run a bath or a toaster, or tend to operate both at the same time and in close proximity to each other when you do, then yes, a quirky Italian motorcycle may not be for you.
A Suzuki V-Strom or Honda Rebel can easily fill the void in your life for a Vanilla flavoured motorcycle with all the passion of a container of beige semi-gloss latex house paint.

I had an ‘18 VStrom 1000 for just over a year. Did everything great. Awesome bike. Except it was missing something…. I think I need a year or more with a V85tt. Then either I will appreciate what the VStrom was, or I will live happily ever after and keep the Moto Guzzi, flaws and all because it will have filled that ‘missing’ something.
Yes, but ride up and park next to a long line of all identical GS’s and all these minor issues are worth it.

I don't agree with any of the 'issues' you highlight in your video. I've had my 2021 V85TT Travel for almost three years and I think it's the best bike I've ever owned. This is my first twin and first Italian bike and I have far more fun on this than any other bike I've had which includes a Honda Blackbird, Triumph Explorer 1200, sports bikes etc. If you prefer a bland sewing machine of a bike there's plenty on the market, I know I tried a lot of them before choosing the V85TT..
The throttle response & heat issue is solved by the Up-Map- it also adds more hp & torque. Everything else you stated is nonexistent or you were digging to find something to complain about. This bike is an amazing & comfortable ride. To each their own.
I have the 2021 V85 and agree with your comment. I just received the Upmap T800 and will install a new GTM exhaust in a couple weeks. Stock performance is quite satisfactory but now the dyno measures a very significant increase in torque and hp with a wider and flatter torque curve. Seat comfort, ergonomics and highway stability are all excellent. It's the only adventure bike that looks great to me. Shaft drive is a big plus and I can service the bike myself. No vibration issues for me. An outstanding all-rounder.
Aha, sure, throttle response and heat issues fixed but every other thing from the list fiction. In fact MY mum is the best!

I totally agree with you.
Ive been very suprised at how little vibration there is when underway. Its very smooth. The gentle side to side is one of the charming eccentricities... i love feeling it grumble alive and rock every time I start it. It cruises very comfortably at 80mph and feels as if its plotting along with almost no effort.
Ah yes, that would be about right about at what speed this Guzzi feels happy.

I really like this bike. The styling is great. It is relatively light. The engine is amazingly simple, reliable, and easy to work on if you want to maintain it yourself. It still is a bit tall but so are most ADV bikes. But this one seems narrower than some and easier to get on and off of. I looked at the Pan America and while I really liked the Harley, it was just too tall and wide for me. And I really don't want another chain drive bike. I have 2 Harleys now with belt drive which I really like. The MG shaft drive seems like a great choice for this motorcycle even if it is not perfect. The Moto Guzzi also represents good value. Depending on which level V85 you get it ranges from upper $12,000s to high $13,000s that includes the luggage and other options. To get that on the Harley the cost soars to well over 20 grand. I may be a bit old school but I prefer bikes that are simple, reliable, and have enough modern technology to improve the cycling experience and not so much that it takes away from the riding pleasure. But that is just me. Ride what you like, we are all one motorcycling community. Stay safe and enjoy.
That shaft drive makes this V85TT unique in the segment and can be a great selling point I believe. I actually wish that Pan America had some sort of a maintenance-free drivetrain solution like a belt or a driveshaft as that would greatly complement its heritage but we've got what we've got for now.

Ten motockl jest z krwi i kości motocyklem. Ma nim trząść, wibracje to standard w tym silniku ale to są przyjemne wibracje, również jego dźwięk oraz to jak biegi są wrzucane w skrzyni. Ten motocykl nie miał być nowinką technologiczną ale powrotem do korzeni zresztą jak wszystkie Moto Guzii z nowej gamy. Jeśli chodzi o ride-by-wire to widocznie to jest przypadek odosobniony bo ja nie zauważyłem tego problemu wcale. Nie wiem jak to się ma do konkretnych modeli rocznikowo, możliwe że nowsze wersje zostały poprawione bo ja jeździłem wersją v85 z 2021 roku. Tego motocykla nie powinno się porównywać z żadnym innym z tej samej półki cenowej i przeznaczeniowej. Jeżeli ktoś szuka motocykla który nie wibruje, jeździ gładko i zmienia biegi nie zauważalnie to musi kupić Japońca najelpiej w 4 cylindrach. W V85 silnik jest chłodzony powietrzem, napędzany jest wałem kardana, silnik V-75stopni jest montowany poprzecznie, wszstko to wpływa na specyficzny styl pracy i jazdy. To czyni go tak wyjątkowym.
Got the V7 85 stone 18ths ago after years of riding Japanese, German and Italian machines. Sure MGs are quirky..Its got character and sole in spades.Its a "Motor Cycle."

I read so many positive reviews of this bike before buying my new V85TT a few months ago. I got what I expected. A really beautiful Moto Guzzi with it's quirks. It is those features that make it stand out. So love it or hate it it's a matter of choice. But don't be indifferent be a Guzzisti or ride something else.

Strange review.. I have own this bike for 6 months ridden 4k miles across the northern plains at 85 mph….smooth steady and comfortable…no throttle stick issues and not overly hot from the cylinders.. I’ll keeep it…. Trying reviewing a Harley… your comments fit those bikes perfectly.
Now your bike is the smooth steady and comfortable but Harley is "bad"? I think I know how that works.

I've not ridden the bike but the throttle thing you descrube is common on 99% of modern bikes because of emmisions. Its called fuel cut. BMW is one of the few companies that really has it figured out.
I have a 2020 z900rs and its the same way but you get used it it pretty quick.
This one is the only one that I've ridden that is affected by such a throttle behavior.
I don't like that when in sport mode the throttle is too sensitive on the initial roll on. I leave it in road mode. It's also slightly heavy for a tall big making lower speed or walking speed maneuvering harder.
good made video, but driving the v85tt for a while now, I don't have any of the issues you mentioned, I love the bike even coming from a far stronger adv bike of double the HPs. It's far more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow.
Thanks and I'm glad that your bike does good - that's the whole point. Some of us are more sensitive while others aren't even bothered by those same things which cannot therefore even be called issues. V85 TT might be having a very unique and specific purpose and that's of course totally alright.
Have you try more recent models? which should be better as some things been fixed.
I don't have the issue you mention with my V85TT, everything is smooth and lovely to ride.
Does Moto Guzzi listen to this to improve it?
I have a different view of my 22 v85tt Adventure, I love the bike. But I do have to admit, it took about $3,000 to customize it to get to that point. Namely; A Madstad wind screen, the stock one looks cool but is worthless. An Ohlins rear shock, and Andriani fork Cartridge kit, it just tightens things up nicely and makes it feel like a much more balanced machine. The softer gel seat with Airhawk pad, considerably longer sadle time at a stretch. OEM Crash bars for obvious reasons, and an OEM center stand. With these bits, it's a first class machine that always gets compliments. Also, higher octane gas, like 93 or 95 REALLY helps in the lower rpms.

A remap will fix the throttle problem. Should be an easy fix especially if you put an aftermaket exhaust on the bike.
I would like to see a center stand on this bike...but unsure if one could be fitted. I do like the looks of this bike though. Thanks for another informed & interesting video... stay safe!
The travel models come with one fitted. Plenty of videos on here of people fitting them.

I don't know the production date of the one in the video but it's an official Moto Guzzi demo that is as I know also lent to journalists etc. I'd expect it to be in the best condition possible.
V-Told sounds like MG might be listening to you! What do you think about the 2024 model upgrades, do they address some of your 9 issues?
Haha you picked up the most problematic one, mine is so smooth so im not agree as “avoid this bike” i meant, its not perfect but a normal one may i say, 19.500 km 0 issues (normal maintenance)
Good that your V85 TT behaves differently. This was Moto Guzzi's official demo bike for the country. I don't think that anything was broken in this one but it's just the way it is and we either like it or not.
did you decrease fork preload because of shimming at high speed?

OMG... no experience with air cooled enginges, with non-in-line-engines, with drive shafts etc, and not smart enough for a proper use of the bike and its capabilities... NON-issues are mentioned here.

This reminds me my Aprilia Dorsoduro 2012. Shares some similarities in design as soon as these both from Piaggio group. Dorsoduro gets really hot in traffic and throttle is not that smooth. Fat Duc O2 emulator and aftermarket exhaust system helped with engine heating and throttle control. Bike became so much better. I think that v85tt with aftermarket exhaust system should be a wonderful bike. The ergonomics is great and a shaft drive. Buttons placement is not an issue at all if you coming from any Aprilia or Moto Guzzi. Headlight is OK, at least it's bright. Really want to try this bike out.
An aftermarket exhaust could make it quite interesting along with its overall style. I'd like to hear that myself actually.
Hi. I have the 2023 version in full black and absolutely no throttle issue. No vibrations either and I am quite sensitive to it. If you refer to the vibes given by the reverse torque, yes indeed, but no Massage in the feet as you say. The heat issue is typical to a air cooling bike, not more, even though you may fix it by buying the kit (1600 euros). The torque beyond 3000 rpm is amazing. And meet the highest torque at 5000 rpm much lower than all other mid size bikes. It is a good cool looking bike for easy going riders. Good for my great age. I have also replaced the original wind shield by the Ermax one provides a better protection. 76hp is one thing, but combined with the high torque at low pace makes this bike unique, putting a bloody smile on your face. And look at the faces from drivers once you are aside them at the traffic light. Makes you feel the king of the road. 😅
I wonder how is the wind protection after fitting a more proper windscreen to it. I think it can serve an unusual purpose due to its unique style. It's nice to hear that you're enjoying it. All the best! :)
I can see you've never ridden an old BMW boxer, like the R45/R65. Those bikes were really hard to ride, but people loved them all the same. I did my license on a R45 in 1987, and I suffered during the mandatory lessons doing figure 8s because I would constantly drop the bike in the right turn. I only learned later about things like feathering clutches. Maybe you should too.

Its a easy handling ,beautiful bike to ride. I hardly find the 70plus hp an issue,and i used to ride a ktm 950 se.
you may just have a lemon.Many owners claim no such issues!Its rather dramatic title and from Motto Guzzi perspective may result future customers loss.Why hurt MG? If you think its unique try other forums BMW,HD,Yamaha,Suzuki,Honda all have their share of lemons.I had 1998 VFR800 Honda to save few bucks installed horribly thin wires coming out of stater and easily heat up and fried regulator rectifiers.Seriously how much more would of cost Honda to size proper wire? Anyway you get my point. For fun go to BMW forums complain lists are numerous.
When compared to big adv bikes, this is the result. Hard to tell what is one bike's behavior vs what all of them feel like but this was Moto Guzzi's official demo bike for the country, so I'd expect it to be representative for at least most of them.

No more vibrations than my BMW’s. Different but not bad. Much more enjoyable bike to ride than those bikes though. Shaft drive is fine, notice less clunking than my R1200’s actually. Not sure about these niggles you have… the kill switch? Non issue - you seem very particular. The TT is as good as any bike out there. It offers character and romance that most modern bikes can’t compete with
The kill switch is just a story. An issue until you know how it works. Still - a strange design. V85 TT definitely is full of character and an unusual bike on the market today.
There is a 3rd-party chip add-on (i forget what it's called) to fix the throttle issue. I agree you shouldn't need it, but it's a easy fix.

Update the ECU software. Guzzi released the 3rd version.

My 22 Travel version is great, it has character. Also the decat plus muffler, Rapid Bike and fuel mapping gets rid of a few flat spots and truly allows the bike to breath. But if you want to ride it like an MT-10, go buy the Yamaha instead. The V85TT is for riders who appreciate a good V Twin and a good ride.
Oh, KTM's '1290' and H-D's '1250' would please many souls. Heck, even the V-Strom's 1037cc is truly awesome.
My Rapid bike module didn't work for me but I'll try it again because my voltage regulator was half unplugged and possibly created all sorts of issues.

Obviously not the right machine for your very narrow requirements. If 76hp is not good enough then why use a machine that you know will not play boy racer. Horses for courses and you seem to have chosen a thoughbred with character when you really need a slick transient.
For my very narrow requirements it's not perfect indeed. This was a Moto Guzzi's demo motorcycle that I rented to try at that time.
When comparing the V85TT to the GS, always remember that BMW costs twice as much. They are two different bikes. The V85TT is adored by fans of the old BMW R80 GS, as it embodies its philosophy. The rival of the current BMW GS, the Stelvio, will be equipped with an engine derived from the V100, a much more advanced bike, with maximum Aprilia technology
I wonder if a new Stelvio will indeed be introduced. It would be interesting as Moto Guzzi has some unique features that if included in a larger-capacity bike, could make for a good competitor in the big adventure segment.

That bike looks awesome to me! All it needs is an upside down trapezoid shaped headlight!
This way it likely would suit many more riders while the question would be if it would keep its style.
The Mistral company makes a cheap plug and play tuning device which solves the throttle issue and improves it trough the rev range. 2. You know how much power it has before you buy it! It’s touring /adventure bike not a sports bike. Side note, serving is simple!.3. The rocking is what Guzzi’s do.

Wierd review, does it show you rding the bike at all, I have been a motorcycle mechanic for twenty five years, these are oil/air cooled motors, I fing Guzzi's are quite reliable, all bikes are a compromise you need to find what type of rider you really want to be, full dirt, road only, half dirt but loose gravel only etc it's up to the rider. These are a really reasonable motor cycles to cover off on most styles. Happy riding to all.
Surely it all depends on what one is looking for. V85 TT is sort of one of a kind and that may be a good think if it matches one's specific preferences. Didn't stand up to my expectations in some areas though. No bike is perfect and there's always something that some other bike does better.
Buy japanese or Bmw. It seems to me, looking first at the video title, that reasons are just speculation. Maybe you are sponsored by some motorbike vendor. Hope I'm mistaken, but watching the video the impression is that it's just your point of view. It shoule be said in the title.

I disagree with almost every point of this review. I am a new owner of a 2021 V84 TT Adventure, and to me, the V85 has no more "quirks" than any motorcycle. It's just a matter of spending some time on the bike and getting familiar with its handling, acceleration characteristics and control. I have experienced no acceleration hesitation issues, and the balance of the V85 is great.
You seem to very much need to watch the video again as you seem to have got things the opposite way to what’s said in the vid.
The throttle thing annoys me as well. I sold my 2021 Indian Chief because of that
So I see that I'm not the only one noticing those seemingly small things. I'm glad to hear that! Though I'm not glad that you experienced such an issue on an Indian. Still, it appears to be a fairly rare issue overall in the industry thank fully.

I have only ONE complain about this bike - WHY couldn't Piaggio release an update without any 🐂🐂💩💩 ⁉⁉- These crappy updates screwed up my CC about 3 months ago - and STILL the dealer can't fix it ‼‼🥵🥵🤬🤬😖😖🤢🤢 Ye - there was another shit too - the updates "limited" the power output, but that ( acc. to dealer ) was fixed..... So my bike is at the workshop - still 😨😨
Not good to hear. Issues happen but actually breaking parts of software sounds at least strange. Hopefully they'll deal with it and have given you a replacement bike. That the least they could do in this case I think.

Took time to write a stupid comment and hasn’t noticed that it’s not even true. The socks are gray in diamond pattern with blue and white areas. Here they match the trousers. As if white socks would be socially or motorcycle-wise unacceptable :D
Like all almost all other reviewers of the V85, you make the same mistake by stating the engine is a "transversely" mounted one. Not so, it is a longitudinally mounted engine.
If that’s so, then it may be since Moto Guzzi use that word on their website. But I also do not feel entirely comfortable with the word “tran*” nowadays.
