    As usual an informative and interesting video, I think both of mine would have met most of your criteria. Had them for about a year both have grown well and are a beautiful yellow. Thanks for posting, stay safe and well.

      Yamabuki are not necessarily cheap koi. They can be expensive as well 😉. It is a nice variety! Enjoy your Koi, stay safe.

    So much to learn :)
    I did not know about the lighter color when young. Now I know what those reddish spots are on my y. ogon; despite being 80 cm he is still very yellow thank goodness :)

      We will never be done learning about Koi... probably why it is also enjoyable. 80 cm is a nice size! Do you know the breeder? Nothing will be wrong with your koi, just some orange/red pigmentation. Thanks for your comment and enjoy your hobby!

      Most important is that you like and enjoy the Koi, even though some probably won't be perfect and didn't develop how you hoped they would develop 👍

    Hi, I want to ask about akame in ogon. I have a yamabuki ogon with an akame, could you tell me why koi can have akame?

    • @Aboutkoi
      @Aboutkoi  3 роки тому

      Hi there, honestly I am not sure why some Koi are 'akame'. I assume you mean the red eyes and pale albino skin?

    2 nice fish there, think i would like a little darker maybe....but still nice

    • @Aboutkoi
      @Aboutkoi  4 роки тому +1

      The 'darker' yellow will come 😉, just give it some time. The lightest one will become darker as well. The lighter, the less likely they will develop orange. Thanks for your comment!

    I have orange color koi 3 months old and 3 more colors 3 months old, can you please explain in details from 3 month to old how they change... It will be helpful for me to purchase more colors

      Do you know what the variety is? Is it white with orange patterns/steps on it? or is it entirely orange like a 'Benigoi'?

    Thanx for the informative video. But what if the koi yellow is darker but still metallic, does that variety count as a yamabuki ogon or doe it just make it a kigoi. Tbh its kinda hard for me to tell the difference between kigoi and yamabuki 😓😅

    • @Aboutkoi
      @Aboutkoi  3 роки тому +1

      Yes it should still be a Yamabuki Ogon, even if it did became darker colour (almost orange). The Yamabuki Ogon has fukurin and is metallic. While the Kigoi is a one coloured non-metallic yellowish looking Koi.

    Sometimes I feel that strict adherence to characteristics of that variety takes away from the beauty of the fish simply because it's a shade different. I've seen Yamabuki that are slightly darker and orange and still are absolutely beautiful fish. But judges will not care for it because it's not a yellow color, I've always find that odd. It's simply a different shade that can be appreciated.

      Interesting! Yes indeed it is up to every single person to determine what he or she likes and would love to add to their point. But when you are in competition, there simply aret certain basics that judges will look at. Compare it with any other animal on a show, or for example a dancing competition.

    The other one has red on its tail fin... what is that? Thank you

    • @Aboutkoi
      @Aboutkoi  3 роки тому

      Ah, the last part of the tail of the bigger Yamabuki Ogon in the bowl? Many one coloured Koi have this. Especially in the bottom part of the tail. It is quite normal. It depends on breeder to breeder how intensive it is though. If you look at Chagoi or Karashigoi for example you can also spot it.
