- I might be wrong, but I feel like this is just one of few endings this game has. Because the demo has 32 days and it ended on 25th. So there might be more to this. And also I should record my play sessions more, because there are really interesting and spooky events that I want to be recorded.
Edit/update: Yes, the "The end is near" signal is indeed bad ending. And you continue playing after that :) Just reload the save.

I wonder if you let them in would they just hit you and leave or delete the signal them selves
The creepiest part about the "End is near" signal, is that the game effectively locks you into a loop until you destroy the download/recording of the signal. Whatever that signal is can't be natural and is clearly anomalous considering that it starts off with a recording of an asteroid that's red and slightly fleshy looking.

The idea of a signal that attracts something from deep space to destroy your planet, " Found you! " traps like that are a particularly scary concept in sci-fi.
Imagine we detect a signal like that in real life.
Like, we celebrate for 20 minutes until it turns out it spells:"be quiet, they might hear you", you'd be shitting out a whole house worth of bricks

So two events mixed up here. The invisible thing throwing stones at your wall is an Ariral. Don't mind it, though biologically Arirals are terrifyingly dangerous, strong, fast, with poisonous claws, they are extremely chill... and somewhat dicks. if you got outside he may beat the crap out of you, not kill you, just punch you to the floor.
The End is Near though it's a completely separate event that just coincided with the Ariral appearing.
I was aware of that. I just didn't expect the 'end is near' signal to give me game over.
so do arirals naturally have invisibility or is that just some advanced technology

They don't have poisonous claws, that not stated ANYWHERE.
So.....that was terrifying. The Jumpscares in this game really are understated, and they're more effective for it.
The way arirals leave empty shrimp packs out your door feels a lot like the way cats leave gifts outside the door from time to time, maybe to them we look like we eat the plastic since we collect it in some way? Or maybe they are asking for more?

I paused the video as soon as the red flash happened and there is something in the sky. It kind of looks like a bunch of faces, but I can't really tell. To be honest, this ending doesn't make a whole lotta sense and I wish there was more of an explanation. So much mystery to this game...

@@danigarcia2294 Afirm on the grid being applied to the skybox (some frame in 9:28), looks like a bunch of “Tormented Souls” or something. Something tells me we might hear more about Arirals (the species that, I think, the creator made and are the invisible things that show up after special triggers; namely when you have some sort of knowledge of their existence) and what they are capable of in future updates or other games.

That's what the game tries to replicate. Even though it's an Unreal engine game, it mimics the Goldsource engine (The Half Life 1 / Cry of Fear engine) with sounds, simple HUD elements, textures, "Node Graph out of date", etc.

What happens if i delete the red skull signal before it even gets into my computer? (using the reset button), does the game bug out or just.. idk?
Nothing happens. In order to not get the bad ending, you need to delete all copies of the signal (including on disks and laptop). When you receive the weird email, you have enough time to take action. I recently started a new save file with new version of the game and got this signal very early on (second day), I deleted the signal and I was fine.
@@calamidi Alright, ty! i made it to sandbox mode and the game kinda just said "Yeah, you aint staying long here" and completely disabled me from playing sandbox. I have the entire story mode finished so i guess the game still has major glitches lol

so i like to think that the arirals found out that dr. kel captured the world ending signal and he has no idea what he stumbled upon, so they're trying their hardest to warn him about the danger of that signal

Whats up gamers, bit of a spoiler warning here on my own personal experience with 'the end is near'
The end is near has 2 preludes to it. The first of which is the red planet, once processed to level 3 it has that "help us everyone is dead" text, From my experience (one time so not actual proof) this planet will proq 3 times. Alternatively, I might just be one HELL of a driver farmer so it could retrospectively be a 1/2 day event.
The second prelude is a green, mossy like moon. Once processed to level 3 it has that "Avoid this at all costs, it is coming." text, note that after this, I did not witness another red planet. Or rather, only a few signals after the green mossy moon did I find *it*.
Finally, the encounter itself. The object looks like a red skull with a red jet behind it, emitting several layers of magnetic field around its entirety. If you see that, you have the option to either tango with the event, or say 'hell nah' and remove the signal. Either case, that entity appearing has triggered the event, and thus it will not appear again until the first and second preludes have been cycled through again.
The end is near functions as a virus if you would, because it is visible on your computer, it knows where you are. Like a reverse callback. Due to this, much like the computer virus brick it is completely harmless when looked at. And unlike the computer virus, it is STILL completely harmless when you download the file onto your audio monitor.
If you're curious whether or not this truly is "The_End_Is_Near" simply play the audio file. At T0, T1 and T2 the audio monitor will display an almost eerie complete.. *nothingness*, a jet-black audio display. No other signal does this as audio is captured in both black and white. And right now, you still have the opportunity to just push the audio into a drive, toss it into the drive wiper and move on. Completely forget about it, like it never happened.
But, if you decide to tango with the eyes of death, push it to T3: Denoised. At this point in time, a 5 minute timer starts. If you were to check it in the audio visualizer, you'll get the iconic red skull with the text "The End Is near" as seen in the video.
But you're not here to just get this ending, or know when it happens. You want to *beat* the ending itself, don't you? Well. Just like any back door device, you have to remove the backdoor. Remove all evidence of it existing, if this game had amnestics, you would probably have to take it too to remove it from your own memory but the game hasn't gotten that far *yet*.
This implies:
The object, while it was safe to look at at T0, T1 and T2, now it is at T3 it is a cognitive hazard. If it is still visible ("Signal Lost") find a different signal and lock onto it.
The remains of the denoising, Drop a different audio sampler into the decompiler and run it, doing so will clear all evidence that you got the object to T3
The audio visualizer prompt, That skull on your monitor is NOT safe, overwrite it with any other audio, just make sure it's not on screen.
The history, Remove all evidence of the object existing, go into your computers audit logs, find all versions of that object, and delete it.
The file itself, put the signal into a drive, and push that through the drive cleaning device thing™
The drive itself, it once held it. *DESTROY IT.*, you can destroy it by either slamming it against the wall until it breaks, microwaving it, or grabbing 3 other drives, running over to the workbench, and turning it into electrical scrap. The latter is my preferred method.
Once you've cleared ALL evidence of it, you will receive an email. "good".

The end is near appears (calculated guess) once you near the end of unique signals, it thus appears slower when you are slower, and faster when you are faster. For me it appeared on day 15. And while my signal processing speed since then has only gone up, I have yet to catch another prelude signal on day 25. The end is near is *probably* a one off event in story mode.
i havent even played this game much and the end is near signal is so fucking scary and it really interests me, what happens to "converted" planets, how does a signal destroy a planet at all, why does it only destroy it at t3 and so on and so forth. also this implies the arirals need earth (and possibly kel) around for something, i hope its touched on more in the final game
@@Mihajlo-mv2jz the short answer is that the entity emitting the signal can hear it from anywhere like echo-location, so once you get it to T3 and all the noise is gone, it'll hear itself, and is drawn towards it.

You need to get out of bounds. when you hug and follow the edge fence, there will be a hole you can go through and explore more out of bounds area. I highly recommend using your ATV.
