Persona 4 golden is my favorite game of all time and I just fell that persona 4 would feel incomplete without the winter time at the end. The super fun ski trip was great and gave me many laughs. And the Hollow Forest is my favorite looking and sounding area in a game over it is just so sad but peaceful. Those are the reasons I love Persona 4 Golden just wanted to get a different opinion out there on this channel.
So in august of 2008 i went to my buddies house just to see what he was doing (i had no phone or internet back then lol i had just turned 18 and had a car though). He was playing persona 4 and he wanted to finish off the fight before we hung out. I saw ares and was taken aback. He explained the concept behind the game to me and I almost shit. I love mythology and always have. So the idea of using gods and demons to battle fucking sold me on the game immediately. Not to mention, despite being a Christian, I love the inclusion of God, angels, the devil etc. Even when it borders on sacrilege, it is fucking badass to whip out Metatron and smite some demons. I bought persona 3 and 4 on my next payday, and have played every smt game on the systems i owned. I really need a fucking 3ds lol...still, i love the smt series, and I am glad i happened to stop by that day, because i remember seeing p4 in game informer and just ignoring it cause it looked like some gay high school sim. I would have missed out on many important life lessons, and some of the most fun moments of my life thanks to that prejudice lol
I had only vaguely known about Persona 4, and watched some video talking about how a little girl (Nanako) didn’t have it that well, so I half expected her dad to beat her when I got the game. Good thing he’s actually a softie
Speaking of living in a small town when I started playing Golden it was kinda foggy on some days with heavy rain contrasted with nice summer days while I started my first semester at college. Really had me connect with the game
I knew about Persona 4 thanks to SuperButterBuns. I bought Persona 4 off PSN around 2016 and got to Shadow Kanji; after finishing him off, I just stopped until around Christmas where I decided to get a Playstation TV with Persona 4 Golden from Amazon. I finished it and I enjoyed it. I did another playthrough on hard mode, my enjoyment for the game skyrocketed and now it 's one of my favorite games of all time. This got me into Persona 3 FES which I beaten and love it too.
AnonEars nah what I mean is that P4 getting many spin off in the span of many years before P5 get out, and even after P5 it still get featured, many people memed that P4 will never die.
Just finished P4 vanilla and it was a ton of fun. Been told Golden is like a completely different game, but don't have much desire to get a vita or PSTV for any other reason, and hearing you two say vanilla is the way to go I may just watch a lets play. P4 really is a staple in video game history.

2009-10 UA-cam drama led me to discover Persona 4. I remember there were 2 video game let's players fighting and making videos about each other and one of them mentioned Persona 4. I then looked the game up and found a let's play of the game. That was how I was introduced to Persona.
P4 actually helped me deal with self hatred and changed my pessimistic views on school. Also Kanji showed me that not all men are bad. I love this game.
Persona 4 was alright the first time I played it but after letting it sit with me for a while I realized how much Inaba resonated with me and just how much I love it and the environment. The tone of the game from the music to the colors is just amazing and the small town of Inaba is similar to my shitty little town. Still like Persona 3 more but I want to give Persona 4 another chance and see if I like it more the second time around (too bad sony still hasnt made it compatible with ps4)
I heard about persona 4 when I was 7 by another kid who talked about it, a lot. I never grew interested thinking the regular school part was stupid and boring. Then I watched a persona 3 let's play and went on the look at persona 4 and love it. Persona 3 is my favorite though.
I really wish I got into this game very VERY early. I’m a huge RPG fan so I started playing it very late through Golden in 2017. I know it probably wouldn’t be the best choice to start. I didn’t think much about it because I was also playing Persona 5 and enjoyed it to the point I finished it. Then I got into playing more Persona 4 Golden throughout breaks at college. I loved it and still consider it one of my favourite games of all time. It was such a emotional experience to me. Awkwardly, I have played Persona 3 before I started playing Arena (Mostly to get used to Mitsuru and the others who are part of the game.) So, technically I played the mainstream games in reverse order. Don’t be like me. Lmao. Thank you so much Persona 4 for giving me joy and making me love a lot of characters involved in it. ♡
3 years later and this video remains one of my favorites! Persona 4 is my favorite game of all time since I can relate to living in a small town and I didn't have that many friends. This game helped me get through school so it will always have a soft spot for me! It's P4, P2, P3, P5, and then P1 for me in order~
I started thinking I didn't play p4 more than once but then I remembered I accidently saved a new game plus on a semi bad end and essential replayed the game to get to the true end. Then I fought Izanami 10 times because I didn't realize I was supposed to lose and restarted prematurely several times. Somehow it still became one of my favorite games of all time.
Knowing that Persona 4 has all this content is great because it's personally my favorite of the bunch. I really wish it would get more, but at this point idk how many people would want that as much as I do. I remember the summer of 2017 and buying my first PSVITA and so many people told me it was a must buy (P4G). I didn't know what to expect because at that point I wasn't into anime all that much. Although many people complain about the first 2-3 hours of the start of the game I enjoyed it. The characters, story, setting, and overall themes are very heart warming. I then went on to watch the Animation and thoroughly believed it represented the basis of P4 very well. Couldn't develop all the social links in a 20 episodes, but fine. Later, I watched the Golden Animation and it's not like it was necessary, really only being there to highlight the new scenes in P4G and Marie, but moments like Naoto's imagination, etc made it a treat to watch. Finally I play P4DAN and it's such a great rhythm game, and the story was a nice added edition. The music is great and the story made me a bit sadden seeing that it was coming to an end. And although this was the case it'll always stick with me most. I haven't played the Arena games or Q yet, but I have seen gameplay and story within those games and it's great (sure it's milking the series) but I enjoy it, keep it coming lol. I planning on also buying the Manga and the Bluray versions of the Animations just so I can always have them. Shoji meguro is amazing along with Lotus juice, Shihoko Hirata, Yumi Kawamura. I have appreciation for these amazing artists and musicians now. And really all the people at Atlus for making amazing music, characters, games. Persona 4 has made me appreciate a lot in life now and why spending time with others is important, bettering yourself as a person can help you build more relationships or advance existing ones. It's really been more than a game for me, I've loved it, I'm glad a took a chance on it and wish more from Atlus and the best for them. Much love to anyone else who enjoys Persona 4 or Persona in general!
You've games like Pokémon GSC that has 20 years, and past 20 years, the majority of pokémon fans still loves gen 2, aswell gen 1. You have FF7 has 22 years and FFX has 18 years, and their legacy seems to never die off. I played P4 golden and P3Fes after, in 2015 to experience the persona franchise before playing P5 in 2017. And since P3 and P4 had good feedback, I decided to play them too, and loved them.
P4 was the game that introduced me to Persona and MegaTen (specifically SuperJeenius' LP). Although I played Golden and have not played vanilla yet. 11:54 That just reminds me of the running joke with my friends of "roll for dick" when we play DnD (i.e. d12 x d4 dick size is part of your character sheet, or I think it's a d8 for cup size (for female characters, obviously))
The way i got into persona 4 was by playing persona 4 arena ultimax first and i was really interested in the way the characters were designed and then i was consumed by how entertaining it was.
Hi, I'm a Spanish speaking fan, who has been watching his videos related to this saga and wanted to ask them. What do you think and the fans of Persona that the saga reaches PC? For example, take out Persona 4 Golden on PC, such as Yakuza 0, Bayonetta etc. Oh that the saga reaches other languages and is known more in Spanish speaking countries for example?
i didnt start with P4, but i did start with P3. i was in a group chat and someone posted a screenshot of Ken asking "what do you like to put in your coffee?" and that guy picked "hot sauce". then i decided i should get this game if it's the last thing i'll do and found a copy of it after some weeks of searching then i started P4 and loved it, but not as much as P3 (and P5 now)
I actually played and completed the original Persona 4 on Normal Difficulty and it took me over 60hrs but I did not get to fight the final boss because I couldn't figure out how to trigger it and also I wanted to get the game done and over with anyway because I have died so many times in dungeons and had to start over again. But in Golden I got to fight the final boss as a surprise. But After playing Golden I prefer Golden over the original and I have over 230+ hrs invested in Golden to prove it. I don't mind if they remade Persona 3 don't change the color palette but make the graphics HD and put the stuff FeMC stuff in it from P3P and call it a day. I loved P4 Arena and the Story plots it had. Ultimax was ok but not as good.
Even if P4G is not a perfect Remake (no idea, don't have P4 vanilla) I still have to thank it for introducing me to Persona. And for being a mighty finde reason so keep a Vita, I love that system.
Hey Fither, I know this is not something really related about this video, but since you are really knowledgeable about the Personas series itself, there are a few questions I have for you regarding the Persona 4 arena 1 and 2 Yu Narukami is a Wild Card User right. Then that means that he can summon multiple Personas. So why can't he do it in the P4 Arena similar to what Margaret can do in P4 Arena 2? I tried to do some research but I can't seem to find any answer. But if he could, which personas would he have, how would his gameplay/tactics and combos be and would he be a bit OP or a bit harder to use?
My own personal way that I got into a Persona for was I bought arena because I'm a huge BlazBlue fan and I would like another fighting game made by arc and that just set off me now having all of the games and the take your heart addition of persona five
Plus all the new music is great special mention to the new opening and snowflakes. I prefer the news voices for Chie and Teddie over the originals. Its has a lot of extra content like music player, fun quiz show, and lots of FREE costumes. The adachi social link is amazing and get this I even like Marie... hate me all you want she has a great design, amazing voice acting, and a simple but enjoyable story that plays into the themes of the game. The new ultimate persona designs look sweet and the game has 5 levels of challenge for all players. More voice acting, going out at night, and a better fishing mini game as a few last additions. Ok my long explanation of why I love Persona 4 golden so much is over peace:)
I didn't really get much into persona, till persona 4 golden. I played a bit of 3 portable but never beat it at that point. But if 4 came out in 09, and golden came out like in 2012, so was persona 4 just kinda quiet with no spin offs or news for those 3 years?
Is it an absurd opinion to believe that Adachi should have been the final boss. I've just always felt like the ending to P4 was a little tacked on in the sense that we had already found the killer.
How you feel about Persona 4 Golden being an unsuitable substitute for the original is how I feel about SMT Strange Journey Redux. I feel like the upgrade came at the expense of the ominous feeling I had in the original. But that's just me.
I love Persona 4. I actually started from P4 arena, then Ultimax and then P3 FES, P4, P5 then back to P1 and P2 IS and P2 EP because I really grew to love these games (Maya best girl in the entire serie btw). So it was the fighting spinoffs that got me into this franchise. Originally it was the first P5 trailer that picked my interest and when I saw it I thought that every chapter was a fighting game (because I once heard a friend talking about Persona and remember something about fighting titles) with some jrpg elements. Lol, fortunately I was wrong although I really like arena and ultimax, so fun playing them. But man, thinking that the story of King Swag and the investigation team is already 10 yo is crazy. After all this time still a great game and a true gem of the ps2 era. Damn.
I had a weird experience with the P4 Golden anime because I marathoned it while I was sick out of my fucking mind. To give you an idea of how bad it was, I watched it like a month before playing the game and totally forgot Adachi was the villain. All I actually remember is a few scenes with Marie which is kinda funny considering the entire theme is finding the truth but I didn’t know a single important thing after watching it.
And in my personal opinion I've played both golden and the original I think golden is fine (Marie is my persona 4 waifu so yes there is a huge bias) but out of the two I would suggest a golden over 4 original and it's mainly for the adachi social rank so you can understand him better
Persona 4 Golden is my favourite game of all time. Made such a huge mark on me as a young teen. I love all the characters with all my heart some more than others though. Never got too much in the spin offs as if I'd only mostly be interested if they did an RPG style sequel. Chie will always be best waifu for me. Kanji probably being my favourite in the whole game with yosake close second. I think living in small town it I could relate to it more than P3 and P5. Persona 5 is probably the better game and is close on my list. P4 just has the raw emotion to it for me.
So, as someone who began with P5 and went started diving into the rest of the series with P4G, do any of you recommend at least looking up a playthrough of the original P4?
Though I will never agree with you on the quality of golden over p4, I will say that regardless the persona 4 was fantastic and made me fall in love with the series. It's just slightly my favourite over persona 5. Here's to what I hope will be another fantastic ten years of persona. P.S. Best girls will always be Chie, Chihiro, and Tae. Don't @ me
@@raidoukuzonoha883 i mean marie isnt good. But she isnt the first character ive hated, and shes not even in it too much. Bloated? Nah golden really expanded on the characters and frankly immersed me. I would say persona 4 golden only real misstep was in marie's character. But at least she isn't makoto or morgana
Rey Ivory expanded on the characters huh... OH YOU MEAN how they all forget a killer is on the loose on stupid ass moments like the beach trip golden is not P4 quite frankly
@@raidoukuzonoha883 You mean like instead of searching for said killer the main character goes fishing or is out hanging out talking about whatever drama with his friends during social links? Not to mention at this point you just got kubo and they have no idea that adachi is the actual mastermind. They don't even suspect Taro yet. You are right about it not being P4 though, it's better quite frankly.
Rey Ivory it rlly isn’t it’s inferior in every way like a worse VA for Chie that tries too hard to sound like her Japanese VA, okina city being available to go to every day ruins character motivations, ski trip is dumb af Marie sucks, adachi social link makes it obvious it’s him, stupid ass new ending where you side with adachi, party members keep weaknesses when they evolve their Personas unlike in Vanilla where they lose their weakness ITS A DUMB SHITTY INFERIOR PRODUCT also the band scene is dumb af
I played 4 Golden first and never played the PS2 version, and I'll inevitably have a different perspective but the added stuff felt seamless enough and I didn't feel any atmosphere problems. So I find it really weird when you say "The defenitive version of the game is the PS2 version" that is graphically inferior with no exclusive content whatsoever and is not portable. The arguments I see against Golden all seem really nitpicky too. Like not liking Marie or Chie's voice actor. I never minded Marie and Chie's voice in golden fits her personality way more.
I finished Golden as my first Persona last night, with the true ending sans Marie. It was a great game, but something has really been bothering me. I feel as if I didn't truly beat Izanami. Yes, the battle was both fun and challenging, the new theme was great, and the awakening of Izanagi-no-Okami was kino, but, in the end, Yu and the IT didn't prove Izanami wrong beyond just being able to beat her up. They even admitted that, and I quote, "the vast majority of humans are exactly as [Izanami says]", and we've seen throughout the game how most people prefer to mindlessly consume media rather than think critically. While Yu's heart did allow him to harness the connections he needed, I still feel that Izanami's dream of a humanity of shadows may still come to pass, for she was never disproven aside from a shoenen style fight.
I found out about Persona through JohneAwesome's Persona 5 100% walkthrough. Then I started playing P3 and P4, but still prefer P4 thanks to being able to control teammates.
Golden is better purely cause it takes the original game and adds even more stuff for the team to do, and those A+ Adachi convos. Love or hate Marie, Golden makes a perfect game perfection squared (Also you can mod patch the textures to be less saturated if it's that bad to you. I honestly like both versions to be honest, and think that they can both suit the P4 storyline really well)
Persona 4, 10 years old 10 times the milking.
AdachiTheThotSlayer your so right
Persona 4 the milking
We'll never stop seeing the Persona 4 characters showing up in fighting games
Still waiting p4 next generation with a bald yosuke like capitan picard

Persona 8 but Yu has amnesia and fuses with Adachi, and no one knows who the villan is

Jojo Part 8’s villain is named Tooru. I have a feeling Araki played Persona 4.
Persona 4 feels like it’s turning 50.
I predict that in 100 years humanity will still be searching for the answer to who is the best girl of p4?
The Answer
No need to look any longer. I found the answer. It is Yukiko. :-)
Yew Geneolgia yukiko? More like yukibad
Margaret. She'll be the only one still alive them.

Persona 4 will live on forever. Good thing it's my favorite.

Much love to anyone else who enjoys Persona 4 or Persona in general!
Plays Persona 3: Wow this was awesome this will never be toped.
Persona 4: Hold my beer.
Persona 5: Slams the bottle of vodka and calls you a trash human.
Persona 3 still hasn't been topped
Kagonotori Death p5 is objectively a better "game " that's my contribution to the argument
I’m still debating if I like p4 or P5 more
Plays Persona 3: Wow this was awesome this will never be topped
Persona 4: Yes I agree with you
Persona 5: Hold my beer
Naoto is best girl.
That is a true statement
You got good taste.
HELL YA. Naoto is best girl. FUCK Kanji
Ciglossonjr That is the correct answer
Ciglossonjr I see you are a man of culture as well.
I was just watching your guy's retrospect p4 video earlier today then you guys drop this
Ten years of cabbage loving
You've games like Pokémon GSC that has 20 years, and past 20 years, the majority of pokémon fans still loves gen 2, aswell gen 1. You have FF7 has 22 years and FFX has 18 years, and their legacy seems to never die off. I played P4 golden and P3Fes after, in 2015 to experience the persona franchise before playing P5 in 2017. And since P3 and P4 had good feedback, I decided to play them too, and loved them.
I had this picture as my desktop background on my fucking Windows XP computer. This game being this old should be illegal.
I played this in the middle of playing 5. Absolutely love this game. This game is the reason y I found your channel
Whoa rad i’m old
Ultimax's balance is silly, but it will always have a special place in my heart I will always go back to time to time.
Oh It a good and healthy 10 year old SMT P4 boy
I'm back to say it's still not dead
I honestly kinda surprised I'm just getting into this series properly now. Midway through P4 as we speak.
7:30 Like everything in Golden. If something is missing, it wouldn't feel the same
14:26 I cried.
I even cried after the game ended, trying to sleep
got into persona with the arena games and love it, can't bevilve it been this long.
I played Persona 4 8 years ago.... wow
Playing persona 4 golden was a sweet ride.
The way i got into persona 4 was by playing persona 4 arena ultimax first and i was really interested in the way the characters were designed and then i was consumed by how entertaining it was.
Still the game that got me into the series, despite everything.
It's funny to think I played 21 hours of Persona 4 and it turned 10 years old today. Wow. What a gap in time huh.
i didnt start with P4, but i did start with P3. i was in a group chat and someone posted a screenshot of Ken asking "what do you like to put in your coffee?" and that guy picked "hot sauce". then i decided i should get this game if it's the last thing i'll do and found a copy of it after some weeks of searching
then i started P4 and loved it, but not as much as P3 (and P5 now)
I actually played and completed the original Persona 4 on Normal Difficulty and it took me over 60hrs but I did not get to fight the final boss because I couldn't figure out how to trigger it and also I wanted to get the game done and over with anyway because I have died so many times in dungeons and had to start over again.
And for being a mighty finde reason so keep a Vita, I love that system.
agreed I love my vita, have both P4G & P3P on it
Oh yeah
My first persona game and first megami tensei in general
My opinion of Golden is this. I played P4 about 8 times back to back and then my PS2 fried up. P4G I played the obligatory 2 times 100% compendium.
And now in less than a month Persona 5 is actually turning 5 years old.
Hey Fither, I know this is not something really related about this video, but since you are really knowledgeable about the Personas series itself, there are a few questions I have for you regarding the Persona 4 arena 1 and 2
Yu Narukami is a Wild Card User right.
Not gonna lie Persona 5 being 5 years old almost got me too
Kevin Valentin What? I could swear it was just 2 years old!!!!
still watch the endurance run every so often, holds up pretty well
Plus all the new music is great special mention to the new opening and snowflakes.
I haven't played vanilla Persona 4 but I have played and beaten P4G multiple times. I also own the original anime on DVD so there's that.
How you feel about Persona 4 Golden being an unsuitable substitute for the original is how I feel about SMT Strange Journey Redux. I feel like the upgrade came at the expense of the ominous feeling I had in the original. But that's just me.
Alright FitherFith, New Orleans rep here. I can say that Tatsumi Port Island does indeed remind me somewhat of New Orleans with the Gulf and stuff.
god. I never noticed how old this game was. I just bought p4g like. a few months ago. wtf
Damn.
Are Altus gonna do anything for its 10th?
if pq2 ends up having the p4 cast in it and it isn't delayed until 2019 or later, then I guess that counts as something for its 10th birthday.
Hey Fither, could you and your friends make a review of P4 of Blazblue Cross Tag Battle?
Now on PC!
I feel so old now I remember picking up this game at GameStop on my birthday
And in my personal opinion I've played both golden and the original I think golden is fine (Marie is my persona 4 waifu so yes there is a huge bias) but out of the two I would suggest a golden over 4 original and it's mainly for the adachi social rank so you can understand him better
I remember getting into Persona through DarkKefka’s P4 playthrough and assuming everyone thought best girl was Chie
The joke at the end got me
So, as someone who began with P5 and went started diving into the rest of the series with P4G, do any of you recommend at least looking up a playthrough of the original P4?
I remember like it was yesterday. Back then the two most important franchise that was important to me was persona and metal gear.
Don't @ me
Golden is bloated and Marie exists so yea
10 years later and I still have not finish Fallout 3! Need to take care of that this summer.
I thought naoto was short but i didnt even notice teddie in the corner
I found out about Persona through JohneAwesome's Persona 5 100% walkthrough.
Then I started playing P3 and P4, but still prefer P4 thanks to being able to control teammates.
can i get a link to that background pic
Oh god, i remember watching the P4 24hr thing. Those dam countdowns! Kill the bear!
The Narukami Swag is fucking eternal (yosuke is best girl)
Playing it today on the PS2 emulator, still a blast
I thought you guys were joking about the P4 pachinko slot machine but holy shit no it's real
08:45 flair said San jose 408 damn i been livin so close to this dweeb n sj is not a small town tf
Golden is better purely cause it takes the original game and adds even more stuff for the team to do, and those A+ Adachi convos. Love or hate Marie, Golden makes a perfect game perfection squared
(Also you can mod patch the textures to be less saturated if it's that bad to you. I honestly like both versions to be honest, and think that they can both suit the P4 storyline really well)
