My poor piggie MoMo, a male, died in July due to a bladder stone. I brought him to a world renound vet hospital. He survived his surgery but not the recovery. He was only four years old and I miss him every day.
Sadly i hear this all the time. Male pigs succumbing after the surgery. So sad.
Why did he not survive?
@@KimSmith-b9v other than the fact that they removed a bladder stone I really don’t know anymore than that. Sometimes Guinea pigs don’t do well with anesthesia.
Thank you Saskia for helping my Aki with her stone. I'm glad you posted the video as it will help create awareness for others who may run into the same issues with their piggies. Aki is also doing better, thank you!
So happy to hear it!! Keep a eye that area as it may come back.
Poor lady I know the feeling of stones I'm glad you were able to help her she's beautiful piggie
Those are so painful in people! I have no idea how animals keep walking and going with stones like they do! The one I had knocked me on my butt for days!
I'm glad she's got it out now though! She must feel way better!
Love the little butt-donut 😂
Great job Saskia, what a beautiful piggy
SHE'S SO CUTE!
I had a guinea pig called hazel who lived to 8 1/4 and she got bladder stones a lot on different occasions in her later years , she was peeing blood and her urine was very grainy and she would cry and tense when she would wee , so took her to the vet and got like 2 different medication, think one was a pain relief to help her be in less pain when she weed , the first time was probably the worst she had got it but since taking her to the vet she was able to wee in less pain to where over time she could push more and eventually I had to do a similar thing put managed to get the big stone out and she was much better, they other 2 times weren’t as bad so think I caught them earlier but she managed to get over it each time , which I am very lucky and grateful as I know in a lot of cases lot it had to be a surgery to clear the stones . just had to keep eye on her and give her less veg that was high in calcium

@@LosAngelesGuineaPigRescueshe still got calcium in her diet I just has to be a bit more selective with her from the other guinea pigs I had and it seemed to work for me 🤷🏼♀️
Awe, poor girl! So funny though, she was sassy and even after what a look on her face! Another one for your collection Saskia and another piggie who is feeling so much better! Thank you for sharing!
Saskia you are amazing ❤

🐹📢 WHEEK WHEEK Thanks You Hoomin for helping another fellow pig feel better. ~ Nacho
This was amazing to see!! My skinny lady has a bladder stone and I wish I could get her some relief like you just did🥺🥺🥺
This does not work on all stones - only in females and only on stones that have come all the way down. Good luck!!!
I hope she’s doing okay now
Yes she is doing GREAT!
How do we get the lidocaine and the tool? I am now officially a piggy dentist because I had to pull out two front incisors that were hanging on by a thread due to an accident! because of you I was brave.
Thank you for helping.
Piggy is like " I feel violated" Lol 😂🤣🥰 Thank you for helping all the piggies Saskia! You are truly amazing! 😇
So glad you were able to remove the stone!
Poor old lady! I bet she feels better now!
One of my girls has had two stones removed non surgically by the vet recently but she has another which doesn’t seem to be moving down. My vet told me to massage her lower stomach to move the stone down but she then started bleeding so the vet said stop. I feel the stone each day but it seems to be in the same position for the last two weeks. I have an appointment in 7 days with the vet but can you let me know if I should try again to massage above the stone to move it down. She is always wet so urine is passing but when she pees she is in pain. She is on antibiotics, Meloxidyl 0.3ml twice a day, potassium citrate, CystoCure, probiotics, and has low calcium veggies. She is also having vitamin C (the same you give your piggies) thank you Saskia.
Sounds like a urethral stone. If you can feel like you can get it out. That means it is low
enough.
@@LosAngelesGuineaPigRescue thank you Saskia. I went to the vet last Wednesday and my girl had another x-ray which showed the stone hasn’t moved but the vet said the centre of the stone seems less dense and may break. I have been told to continue the antibiotics for another month so she will have been on them for a total of 10 weeks.
❤ ❤ ❤
Well done, Saskia
🚑👍👏
Can this be done in males ?
No sadly not
Lidocaine is only given on prescription in the UK. Is it okay to remove a stone without using this?
The pig will need some type of local numbing. I imagine that it is a most uncomfortable feeling .
@@LosAngelesGuineaPigRescue Yes, I think best to see the vet if I ever discover stones in any of my piggies. Thanks Saskia xx
Stones look so uncomfortable for piggies at least she's better now
You have quite a collection of stones now. You need to make them into a necklace like a string of pearls
She's so cute 😍
Awesome Job!🎉🎉❤❤😂
What a sweet lady. Thank you for helping her.❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Is that tool you are using a knitting loom tool?
No it is a little tool I have had for many years and I can't find it anywhere . It is one of my most priced possessions, I do a LOT with that little tool.
@@LosAngelesGuineaPigRescue
If you can't find it and don't know what it is called or where to get another one, perhaps you can replace it with a knitting loom tool. I got mine at Walmart. I tried to add a photo of it, but I couldn't figure out how.
