Judy Gemstone steals the show. Which is saying something, given the talent and writing from the rest of the cast. It's not just the lines or even how they're delivered- her body language is fantastic. Judy's like some weird imposter in her own skin, like a child pretending to be a woman, all awkward and hyper and clumsy. Edi is stunning in this role and any appearance in the show is always a highlight.
In the final episode of Season 2 when they're singing "Some Broken Hearts Never Mend" the boots she's wearing are stunning. And I am a dude. I don't normally notice things like that. One thing that show really nails besides everything, honestly, is hammering home the idea that the Gemstone kids are unconscionably materialistic and that includes having nice clothes, cars and jewelry etc. So it does make sense. I also suspect each of the actors were given a lot of freedom in every aspect of the character including their dress, etc.
I worked with her on Plan B and legit almost ruined every single take because all of her scenes were full improv and I could NOT keep it together. She is hilarious
Started watching these shows for danny mcbride because of eastbound and down and now her characters are my favorites in these shows. Edi Patterson rules. Texas represent
I did a ghostwriter job for a televangelist in Dallas in the '80's and got to know the family and the megachurches 'business' pretty well. Huge grifters in a mansion driving a Rolls Royce to Neiman Marcus for school clothes, this show is spot on and hilarious
Oh my god! She is so delightful - I would legitimately want to hang out with her and her "unique" perspective on the world - it very much aligns with my panic at the worst and find relief in the mundane horrible
Recorded in Seth’s basement with no audience and production asleep instead of somebody getting a microphone to Edi while she speaks with her mouth closed.
Edi is such a smoke show.....I have been waiting for 2 1/2 years for season 2, and I didn't even realize they are already 4 episodes in. HBO does...not the best job of promoting their shows. I watched the recent season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, and saw exactly zero promotion for The Righteous Gemstones. I actually cancelled my HBO subscription for the first time since 2009 just to save a few bucks. Would have kept it had I known TRG was coming back.
I know a 35 year old woman who dropped an egg into a cup and then slipped with that cup breaking it on the floor. This sent her into hysterics and she ran to my apartment convinced this was a spiritual encounter. She likes the occult, does role play on stage at ''vampire'' gatherings, no kidding she flew from New York to Switzerland to play on stage and drink blood, AND she's put up little voodoo shrines in her apartment for some kind of hex-evil warding off type deal. Some people are just desperate to find an alternate universe.
I know it's not Seth Meyers' fault, the state of late night TV as a whole. Even Conan before leaving for HBO for whatever reason ditched the suit in the final year or two. But now everyone is doing it? Conan said it best in an interview I believe on Howard Stern that one of the greatest traditions of late night comedians was the idea that they dressed immaculately, in suits and all, and it was the ultimate foil to the silliness they were getting into. Nobody is wearing suits anymore. Next thing you know they'll be showing up to record their shows wearing pajamas or board shorts.
So cool, seeing her success. Her mom was my teacher. Even way back then her mom was sooo proud of her!
Do you know her Mom’s maiden name as I am from La Grange?
Where did Edi grow up? Where did she go to high school?

Written perfectly !
Well written
Her character has made me regularly laugh harder than almost any other character in a TV series in years. Total commitment to the absurdity
Baby Billy too
@@lauraindira8421Walton overshadows most actors in his shows or movies.
Have to agree that Judy’s outfits in Righteous Gemstones, particularly her shoe game, are always on point!
She got legs for days too.

Love her. I graduated with her in 93. We were on yearbook together lol She was funny back then too.
Started watching these shows for danny mcbride because of eastbound and down and now her characters are my favorites in these shows. Edi Patterson rules. Texas represent
I love Edi Patterson so much. I feel like we got a little bit of Bean Dip there for a second.
Most hilarious character in the righteous gemstones. The righteous gemstones is a masterpiece.
I absolutely love her. She's so damn hilarious on that show...
Edi is so talented. She should host SNL
Omg YES.
@@kab9706 she should be on the cast.
@@tjk3430 For some reason I thought she had been on SNL. She would be perfect.
@@tjk3430 naahh they would restrict her comedy like they do everyone else
She really should I kind of can't believe she hasn't yet.
My girl killed it on Seth Meyers! Classmates since Jr high in TC! Congrats Edi!!!

She's hilarious in the show, very original character that still works in that universe.

We NEED you to name names dude lol
I grew up with this brand of Christianity and I'm dying to know.
Her characters are always nuts, over the top & hilarious.
She pissed me off so much in vice principals. Lol she plays the most annoyingly hilarious characters
@@ndo533 & ALWAYS crazy
I love her! She is brilliantly funny on Gemstones. Made my family fans of her!
She's the best part of that show which is saying alot
She was great in Vice Principals too
Edi! So amazing to see someone I've been following since IMPRO in Los Angeles doing SO well... GO, EDI, GO! Continued success!
I have loved her voice acting for years
This gal's delightful...
She's fantastic on both Gemstones and Vice Principals. Having Danny McBride and Goggins on those shows is incredible. Best casts.
Man she looks great for 49.
Edi is by far the funniest cast member on TRG.
What about me son?
@@Davidjon1946 you sir are absolutely amazing as well but Judy #1
That's saying alot too and I agree
She’s the absolute best.
Oh my god! She is so delightful - I would legitimately want to hang out with her and her "unique" perspective on the world - it very much aligns with my panic at the worst and find relief in the mundane horrible
Everybody should go listen to her Comedy Bang Bang episodes.
Any video? I keep only finding audio of that show. I miss it
Yay thanks for having her on!
I love her work.
She is just hilarious.
Damn, this interview dress is so great, love the shoes too.
Edi steals every scene she's in. Judy is the best character on that show
What a great show!
I'm in the UK so I don't think I have seen anything she is in, but she is hilarious. I will have to look for her work.
She actually killed in Vice Principals that’s why Danny wanted to keep her on his next project
She is amazing amazing actress and so hilarious. Did I mention, super beautiful as well?
She’s so freaking funny
She is incredible
I was there for this abs it was an awesome experience!
It’s been a long time since I laugh so hard I cried but that demon scare story really got me
She sounds a little like that icon of LA, Bean Dip.
You mean the owner of The W hotel?
@@SenorFrijolero You can buy kisses from her.
If they ever make an American version of Fleabag, which I really hope they don't, Edi would be perfect.
Her character is the shows funniest!
I also found I could talk/sing with my mouth closed sometime in the 90's, never seen other people do it
God I love this woman.
❤Edi Patterson ❤❤❤❤
She is so amazing and excellent on The Righteous Gemstones and for 49 years old she is still hot!!!
That was awesome! I love her on righteous gemstones 😂😂
I actually love her
Oh hey is that the guy from Drunk History? I miss that show. Love that guy!
Tim Baltz!!!

WAITTTT WHY DOES SHE SOUND LIKE ALISON BRIE WHEN SHE TALKS WITH HER MOUTH CLOSED?!?!! LMAOOOO
How Seth Meyers is a TV host I'll never know
"I get really excited."
We can tell.
I might tell a couple of times. :D
Shes so fuckin funny
Fun Fact: Edi is my dad's childhood friend from Texas City
Who else was like me and tried the mouth thing themselves?
Glad you had Edi on. I love Judy! 🦇💩
Judy is the funniest character on the show.
She sounds just like the characters she plays 😂
Recorded in Seth’s basement with no audience and production asleep instead of somebody getting a microphone to Edi while she speaks with her mouth closed.
DearJohnny Carson, please come back. Please . Is that too much to ask?
Judy is the funniest character on the show, easily.
That's a great super power she has, to be able to speak with her mouth closed. Almost as great as my wife's superpower of being correct always.
Haha…..haha….so funny. I can’t…stop…laughing….haha. You’re so original.
dang i loved s1 but havent started s2, gots to ketchup
BEAN DIP
My mom used to do that, and I can do it, too.
she’s just the main character asf
She reminds me a lot of Anna Kendrick when not in character. They should do a project together (if they havne't already).
If Anna Kendrick was funny and nice lol maybe
You’re right!
I can talk with my mouth closed too lmao
I've been wondering what she looks like with normal hair and clothes.
Bean dip!

Thanks I just returned from the hospital after getting my stomach pumped.
Oh screw off.
To be honest, I'm always disappointed when it's not a dimensional shift or demon. It just means I'm paranoid 🥺
Would...
I thought Edi was trying to say that she was a ventriloquist.
My kindred sister
That interview was not long enogh
Fun and good-looking!
Reverse ventriloquism?
so cool
I just tried it first time. Not that hard
So I can swim faster Jesse!
