Thanks for the tutorial.. I'm a graphic designer of 10 years and I found it a bit complicated. I think what we're missing is an explanation of all the steps at the beginning.. meaning I know how to do all the steps but I don't have a roadmap or understanding of what I'm doing.. therefore I need to actually follow you step by step.. rather than understand the concept and apply it on my own.. It would be great if you could first show "what we're going to create" as in (glow layer to the top left - glow layer to the bottom right - inner strong shadow - etc..) and actually isolate them so the viewer understands what they're attempting to do..
    Thank you again !

Initially I tried to cover the tutorial in a step by step sequence, but what you are recommending is not a bad idea for user that are more experience like yourself. Next video I will explain more the concept prior to start. Thank you for the constructive criticism.

This is a bit complex but the best papercut fx tutorial I've seen so far, very detailed

Wow, thanks! Yes these type of effect are definitely complex but they are worth the time if they are what you are trying to achieve on your project.!

Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I followed your tutorial to a T and my end result looks nothing like yours. I also noticed that as you'd select options from Pathfinder (like Minus Front, etc.), my results didn't appear as yours did. It's a shame because I love the effect you achieved. Was hoping to achieve the same.

hi Tasha, sorry I am just getting back to you. But when using minus front have you tried switching the layers. A lot of the times it does not perform the cut I want just because I had wrong layer on top. Hope this helps!

Hi, cool end product, but you need to slow down a bit, this tutorial is really hard to follow, and I'm a graphic designer of 6 years.

Hi NIcole , sorry about the speed , Initially I was doing it slower ,but my videos were reaching over 1hr. Thats why I quickly go through the steps , I guess my biggest battle is how to make a good explanation video without taking hours .Thanks

hey love this, but yeah I think as some people said in the comments you might want to slow down and explain some more of the steps in detail. I'm relatively new to illustrator (but I tend to pick stuff up quick, so I'd consider myself an "intermediate" level user), so I understood each thing that you were doing but got losts at some points, like why did you expand the text as opposed to create outlines? I think if just a little more detail was given to the steps that it would be really effective. Obviously you have a SUPER high level of skill so are able to go through these steps quickly and instinctively, but I think it could be useful for new people and for the purposes of creating learning content if each of those steps could be kinda pulled apart in the video and explained/analyzed in further detail. Thanks! hope this critique was constructive and not annoying.

I wanted to slow down , but my video was extending to almost an hour. Thank you so much on the input. Maybe what I will do is talk more about concept and maybe chose a more simple design with the same idea in order to go over all steps in detail and not take too much time. Thnks again I really appreciate it.

@@jdostudios1524 ▶ Paper peel effect (torn paper folded outwards)
▶ Minimal and detailed isometric design involving all concepts of isometric (there are many tutorials available, but they are way flat involving squares mostly, the quality of isometric illustrations available on dribbble behance aren't here)
▶ Realistic simple 3d objects (minimal) teaching about direction of light and shadowing (probably gaussian blur is the simplest one to do that)

All I think you've done with this video is show people that you can do it, rather than show people how to do it. It's not easy to follow and to have to keep watching every minute at least 10 times over makes for one boring tutorial. If your intent is to teach then you need to put yourself in the position of the guys who are here to learn and appreciate that they are only watching this because they don't know how to do it.

I appreciate the input. I challenge you to manage content, editing, talking points and creativity all at the same time to see what you come up with. I’ve been trying to figure out my next video to make sure I hit exactly what you are talking about. Hopefully it gets easier with every video.

@@jdostudios1524 HI thanks for a response, you choose to make videos and upload for people to watch, that's your choice, but don't expect great reviews if all you are actually demonstrating is you can do it, I don't personally want to waste my time watching a video that's basically described as a tutorial with no intent to show how things are done, it's about as interesting as watching a hot drink go cold. Your offer of challenging me to make video content, edit, be creative and everything else and see what I could come up with, wasn't why I commented on you video, I tried to explain that people who want to watch the content you upload is to try and learn something from it and try and replicate it, gaining hopefully some knowledge on new ways to use their software. If you think it's a big effort to put together videos then don't, nobody is forcing you to do it. Thing is if you don't change the way you go through the process of showing how to create things in illustrator then people will only watch one of your videos like this one and won't bother coming back to your channel, there are thousands of illustrator videos on UA-cam to view. My original comment was only trying to say if you were just starting out to learn illustrator would you watch your video and think you've learnt something, I Don't think you would.
