Hi Dylan i love watching your video they inspire me. My soil is poor nothing seems to grow well. I would like to know where to get wood compost and cow manure please..im from POS thank you
Call around various agricultural shops. There is one in Curepe where I bought cow manure. It needs to be cured though. In Port of Spain I heard of horse manure from the paddock in St. James.
18:51 Talking about mulch, you barely touched on that. What would you use and where do you get it? I see many types. How do you pick the best kind? Do you add nutrients over the old and add fresh or do you move aside before adding nutrients?
You're very good! I'm considering growing cauliflower here. This is helpful. Thank you! Do you plant pollinators? When you buy a bag of manure, is it cured?
I don't plant them, not because I don't want to but because I naturally have many where I am. There is no standard for manure in Trinidad unfortunately so we have to figure out if it's cured or not on our own. If the manure feels warm to hot or has a offputting smell then it is not cured and if it is cool with very little smell then it is cured. In general when I buy manure I empty it from the bag and cover it with a tarp for at least 2 months before I use it but you don't have to be this extreme. Thanks for watching!
How do you control pests? My first crop grew without any problem and free of chemicals. But pests destroyed the second crop which I was hoping to grow organic as well. Is there a natural pesticide that can be used?
I have a tutorial on how to make an organic pesticide however I havent had to use it in recent times since I've been using my sweet potato patch as a sacrificial plant. The pests eat the sweet potato leaves which bounce back easily and they leave these plants alone.
I am having lots of success growing cauliflower and Broccoli but whiteflies in recent times have been a nagging problem. Any answers as how to control this pest? Tks
I know how frustrating that can be. A short term solution would be to use an insecticide to get rid of them. I have a tutorial on how to make a homemade organic one, just search my channel for organic Insecticide. A long term solution would be to introduce more herbs and marigolds in your garden as they help keeping the white flies away.
thank you. i will certainly plant cauliflower.
Great video
This is so cool. Very thorough video too. Great job 😍👏🏼🌱
I'm glad to hear that!
I does watch your show all the time by the way can you tell me what I can use on celery when the leaves are getting brown spot
Im so happy someone share your video on fb. It's good to learn from a fellow trini. Can I use goat manure mixed with coconut coir ?
Yes absolutely! You will know that the manure is well cured when there is barely any scent and it does not give off any heat.
Boissierre Greens Earthworm castings gives cauliflower an excellent start.
Thanks for sharing!
The first time I tried it, it went quite well. The second time was a disaster! Will be following your tips to make the third time a charm. Thank you!
Yes keep trying! It's going to be great!

The best mulch is free- halfway done compost, dried leaves and twigs crushed up- nothing with color/dye. Move aside the mulch then add nutrients!
Do you encount pest problems with cauliflower if so what are the solutions for that .

@@thetrinigardener4712 got it! Thanks! X
They look lovely. Do cabbage moths affect your garden?
Thankfully no! Thanks for watching!
Have you tried getting seeds from the cauliflower before?
Hi blessings to you where do you buy ur manure
Hi! I got this manure from a farm in Chase village. You can reach them at 6898360
Hi can they grow by the side of the house but it not getting enough sunlight, how will they grow?
How long will they take to make the flowers
Hey all you need is 5-7 hours of direct sunlight.
Do you know what variety were these?
No sorry. More than likely an F1 hybrid which is what most agro shops have. Very unstable seed producers so mostly just good for planting.
Where do you purchase your seedlings
I got these at Leela's in Sancho Road.

@@jeffpatterson5846 That's a good choice!
What is the name of the varieties suitable for our Climate .
How long does cauliflower head take to mature.
Hi! The ones that I found work best are F1 hybrids which are mostly what we get at greenhouses. Haven't found any heirlooms that work well here yet!
What is the variety’s name you grow most
Can I use rabbit manure and do I need to cure it first?
It needs to cure! Minimum 5 months.
