Hi Tom we had driven past this procession awaiting to start their marches, we had witnessed the beating rain against our window at the ambassador Hotel, wow it was torrential, full marks to those young men and women of jersey, it shows the great character of the jersey islander , if I was in those marches ,I'm afraid I would have been a deserter 😂 I would have quick marched into the liberty wharf shopping mall😅😅
Thanks for taking the time to comment Julie! I am so under the weather today after my soaking! No sympathy from my wife, despite the fact that she was one of the sensible ones who did a runner when it got too bad! 😁👍🏻
@@thereluctantoutdoorsman I always admire work well done but on top of that, to get soaked like this, it must be brought to their attention that is is appreciated!! Bravo!!👏👏👏👌
Thanks for the comment Donnamay! Some of the kids were struggling a bit, but the crowd were great cheering those taking part on, despite the fact that they were getting soaked as well! 👍🏻
Hi Tom, that was unreal, an amazing video. I would like to say I was there, but I deliberately stayed clear of St. Helier. I was enjoying my own deluge in the lanes on the way to Rozel, but I did have a raincoat and umbrella! I must say this has been the worst weather I've experienced in Jersey - but I'm still coming back😂 Well done for all your enthusiasm and all the amazing people and kids marching, they all deserve a medal. Home for me tomorrow😢 back in September 😊
Hi Valerie, I think it was a sensible move to avoid St. Helier and surely you will get some better weather in September! You certainly deserve a better spell on your next trip! Global warming? 🌩️☔😞❄️🥶🌨️⛄
😁😁😁 You've summed it up beautifully, as at the time I didn't know whether to laugh, or cry! I decided to go down the laughing and cheering route to try (unsuccessfully) to keep the kids minds off of the deluge! They had all been lined up in the sunshine for over an hour waiting to start as well! Most sensible people (including the rest of my party) made a break for Liberty Wharf when the downpour stepped up a gear and they said it was very lucky people were not seriously injured, as far too many people were jostling for space under cover, on slippery floors! Really, they should have brought the parade forward or cancelled it! 👍🏻☔🌩️
Well done Tom, and all those involved, I guess you get to a point of resignation that you’re as wet as you’re going to be and just make the best of it… that poor policeman though 👮🏼♂️🌧️
😁😂🤣 That was a pretty spectacular change in the weather to be sure! I don't know what has happened to our summer, we've been in France for three days and it has been very gloomy every day! 🛑🌫🌚🌫 we've just had to make the most of it wining and dining! 🥗🍷👍😁
Ohh Tom that was brilliant, poor marchers don't think they would of seen the funny side of it, haven't laughed so much in ages, bet they were fuming lol.
Hi June, yes and it could have been avoided. It was obvious the weather was closing in and there was a live feed which showed the vips tucking into afternoon tea in the Pomme d'or while the parade waited and waited! 😢🤧🌦🌧🌨⚡
Unfortunately it has become far too expensive to visit the island! We have had some freak weather recently, although the last few days the weather has been perfect! When the weather is good there are not that many places in the world I would rather be! Thanks so much for commenting. 👍🏻
@thereluctantoutdoorsman Oh don't get me wrong mate ! I used to love it. I visited regularly in the early 1980's, and it was just fabulous ! From the airport which was once almost as busy as heathrow, along with the hotel's, the daytime attractions, the nightime ones, and the low duty for drinks, made it a real great value holiday, and then home to southend on a BAF Viscount ! Sadly we fast forwarded life by 40 years.
That was unreal and put a bit of a dampener on the parade. Not nice a good soaking before it has started. Our friends were there to see them but not in this downpour. Hope you didn’t get too wet Tom.
Hi Nic, I had on a pair of shorts and a Polo shirt! I couldn't have got any wetter if I tried! We didn't manage to get anywhere near the King and Queen, whereas my brother and his wife shook hands with the King and had a chat! Still, I was quite happy with the footage of the deluge! 😁☔
Aah that's crazy. There will be a few people with the flu tonight . It is unbelievable Tom. But sure we've come through worse in 2020 with the pandemic. A wee bit of rain is nothing compared ☘️☘️
There is certainly something going on! I was wearing shorts, trainers and a T shirt and was tested after the Royal Parade........apparently on the wet-Ometer I recorded a score of 101%, the third wettest person ever recorded in history! 😁😁😁

Hi Brian, well you wouldn't have been the only deserter.........Callum, Jess, my wife Angie and even Paddy G all beat a hasty retreat! 😁😁😁😁
👏👏👌👌👍💐💐 Good on everybody for going on with the parade and the watchers!! Very well done 👏 ✔ 👍

Everyone did brilliantly the look on some of the children's faces said it all. Amazing cloud formation.

That was verging on apocalyptic weather. Fair play to everyone involved for carrying on. Tom your enthusiasm was brilliant.🇯🇪👏👏
Thanks James! I'm still wringing out my socks! 😁☔👍🏻
@@thereluctantoutdoorsman 🤣🤣 Great video and a little piece of history.
How fantastic for everyone to keep marching, young and old 😇
Can you believe that change in the weather........I'm a bit surprised we weren't out playing golf! 😁👍🏻

Wow! Everyone kept going, brilliant!!👍 Well captured, Tom!🌩⛈️⛈️
We had scorching sun today😂☀️
😁😁😁 Thanks Sheila........I'm still drying out with a mug of cocoa! 😁😁😁
Well done to all ❤ what weird weather, pouring down in south London now.
😁😁😁 I was only wearing shorts and a Polo shirt no umbrella! Oops!
Stormtroopers!🌪⚡️
😁😁😁👍🏻
Tom As a young one when I vised your Island I cannot Remember any relay bad wher
Hi Dez, to be fair I don't remember many similar changes in the weather like that! 👍🏻☔

My wife and I and our sons were introduced to the Queen and Prince Phillip quite a few years ago. Lovely day 😊
That must have been great! The Queen was an amazing ambassador for our country!
With many hotels charging £1000 per week that time of the year, with weather like that.

Yeh, I know exactly where you are coming from. Jersey certainly has lost a lot from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. What a blast they were! 😁👍🏻
@@thereluctantoutdoorsman I lived it ! And the memories are fantastic.
Shame about the weather, I've done parades like that myself wearing my medals
Fair play to you Barry! I couldn't believe the deluge! 😞

That must have made their day, while you got a good soaking.
Spot on! He put the phone down on me last night and said he's not taking calls from commoners! 😁👍🏻
Werther other than low mist.
👍🏻 Some low mist would have been much appreciated this afternoon! 😁👍🏻
