    Lesson for the day: shoes are way too personal to get caught up in shoe hype.
    To me the Boston 12 is the least comfortable thing I've ever put on my foot, and it just feels like a dead stiff brick. The endospeed 3 just feels like pure mush to me

    I agree fully. At slow paces this shoe is hard work. It absorbs energy and doesn't give it back. My heart rate is noticable higher at these paces than the prime x strung OG

    My first impressions……comfortable, smooth roll-through, but not as exciting as all the reviews I watched stated.
    However, I completed a half marathon over the weekend and for me it was just a steady run and they didn’t cause any issues. I think they feel slightly better and faster paces.

    Bro, I bought these too. I own the Skyward and love them like you do. The Neo Vista do nothing for me. They feel like the Nimbus with a stability plate in it. I don’t get excited to run in them at all. Going to return them this week.
    Off topic: What’s a good tempo/race day shoe to pair with the Skyward if I’m just going for a 2 pair rotation? Cielo X1?

    • @supwell
      @supwell  3 місяці тому +2

      Nimbus with a plate... harsh but accurate 😂 also for a race shoe my current top pick for what you're looking for is the endorphin pro 4. It's a little more streamlined than the cielo x1 and skyward X but still has that fun bounce. Really versatile and should be durable for training based on my experience with the pro 3. Cielo x1 is also a good pick if you just want something similar to the Skyward X

    The contrarian shoe reviewer. Aren't shoe reviewers supposed to let the bias go at least by the first mile of the run? You seem to have your mind made up by step one on how this will come out and how it will feel: "This shoe is getting under my skin". Love your channel, but man the bias is thick. We all drink the cool aid, We drink it every day on social media. many of us are drinking it exactly now.

    I'm going to pass 50 miles today on the Neo Vista and it has been working for me. I get the softness and roll at slower speeds and the bounce at quicker paces. I don't love the upper but, after a couple of runs, I figured out how to make it work for me. I'm sure you're not doing anything wrong; it just may not be a good fit for your running style. I've heard reviews on the Skyward X that suggest you need to put some force down in order to experience the qualities that you rave about.
    It's fine. You're a bigger, faster, heel striker, while I am a 135 lb., midfoot striker with a 10-11 minute easy pace. It makes sense that we might not have the same shoes work well for us. I've hesitated to try a real carbon plated racer (even on clearance) because I wonder if I could activate the plate and foam well. What's great about the running community is that a sub-3 marathoner like you and a 2+ hour Half Marathoner like me can still cheer each other on for whatever our goals are.

    • @supwell
      @supwell  3 місяці тому +9

      Yeah I'm thinking this is a case where it's really a forefoot striker shoe only ☹️ hopefully us heel clunkers will get some love in the v2. But 100% agreed on cheering each other on 💪🏽

    I really enjoy my neo vista. It fits perfectly and doesn’t feel long. The feel of it while running is fantastic in slow/moderate paces, even feels really stable around corners. Surprised to hear that it’s moving on you. The only thing I can say is it does get pretty hot on the foot after a few miles for sure.

  • @adamh3246
    @adamh3246 3 місяці тому +3

    I am going to reiterate what a few others have said here that its amazing how different two people can experience a shoe. My guess is that our mechanics are different and that youre a stronger runner. For me a relative newbie in running and not as strong the rocker really helps keeping my feet turning over when I am beat up from a long run the day before.
    I find the midsole compresses in a beautiful mush, rocks you forward and decompresses in one smooth motion.
    Its weirdly pretty stable for me and I have mild stability needs, and the upper just hugs my foot without any issues.
    I found wet grip is at only above average. Laces suck and im considering changing them.

    • @supwell
      @supwell  3 місяці тому

      Great analysis and insight - and glad it is working for you. I've also heard it takes some time to break in so I'm hoping I can get a different experience out of the next few runs. Also "Beautiful Mush" is a great band name 😂

    I have about 50 miles in this shoe, super fun and bouncy, feels light on foot. Favorite shoe for me since the SuperBlast though they’re very different. I use it for long runs ~7:45-8:00 pace 15-20 mile runs
    Edit: I am pretty much a pure midfoot striker, rarely land forefoot unless racing mile-5k, rarely land heel unless I’m trying to slow down on a steep downhill

  • @MidLifeRunner
    @MidLifeRunner 3 місяці тому +4

    2 things: 1- the only paces I don’t like this shoe at is recovery paces. Mad max shoes are either recovery shoes or actual super trainers. This is an actual super trainer for me. I get the same economy numbers at higher speeds as my super shoes (using heart rate). I could use this for long run with MP or even 5k workouts where I want to save the legs versus a minimal shoe (cornering sucks though ).
    2- how to eat the best breakfast tacos while in Austin. 1. Get in your car 2. Drive to San Antonio 3. Eat tacos . 4. Get back in your car 5. Drive back to Austin ((the taco wars are real )
    And 3 - my first impression drops tomorrow - hilarious how polar opposite our tastes are. We come together for the Novablast 4 and skyward x tho

    • @supwell
      @supwell  3 місяці тому +3

      Hahaha oh man is there a San Antonio vs Austin rivalry I'm just learning about?? And yeah I'm super surprised at the pace thing ... it leaves me wondering what the purpose of the flash 2 is since it seems that there's so much overlap. And mizuno doesn't really have any other "exciting" shoes in their lineup - and then they have these two taller stack plated trainers that essentially do the same thing 🤔

    Hey I'm new to running, and trying to get into it as a sport. I'm not fast, and I big dude. Any advice on what shoes I should look into. And how do I run faster and longer? I think the longest I've ran was an hour and a half and I covered 5 miles. I know to some of you guys that's terrible, but I'd like some tips to improve.

    • @supwell
      @supwell  3 місяці тому +2

      Glad to have you here man! 💪🏽 and congrats on the progress you've made already. When I started running the biggest thing I did to see improvement was to run consistently every week and not worry about pace. If you can get out and run 30 minutes a few times during the week at a nice and relaxed effort and build up to doing an hour long run on the weekends, you'll see your overall running fitness and speeds naturally improve. Once you do that for a few months you can build by adding more running days or trying to run faster on a few days per week, but just building up to running 4 to 5 times a week comfortably - and having that feel good and not stressful - will help you make big breakthroughs. As for the shoes I highly recommend the Asics novablast 4. They are comfortable and supportive and great for running those relaxed miles. Here's the link to the info page on my website. www.supwell.io/shoes/asics-novablast-4 If you decide to buy, going through that helps support the channel. Let me know if you have any questions on shoes or otherwise man 🙌🏽

    Been waiting for this review! And I have to say after about 100kms on mine, I'm less impressed than I was at the beginning and the vistas were giving me a bit of foot pain in the forefoot as well. On another note, I tried the SL2 and hate those shoes, they feel flat, clunky and cheap and not sure what pace I would use them at! So maybe my mechanics are different too. I'm a high cadence runner, 190 at almost all paces. Strapped some Triumph 20s back on and realized how much I still like those and prefer those as an everyday trainer, Speeds as tempo and Pro4 as race. I also tried the 1080s and felt they were pure mush. I guess I'm a Saucony fan boy....

    • @supwell
      @supwell  3 місяці тому

      Sorry the SL2 isn't working for you! Good to know about your cadence though - I'm at 160 to 170 at all paces and only touch 180 if I'm getting down to 5 minute miles or faster. I wonder if the soft foam just don't compress enough for your running style and you have to fight against it in both the 1080 and SL2 🤔 I also love the triumph 20 though - again it proves it's one of the most versatile shoes of all time!

    According to the Doctors of Running interview with the Mizuno designers this is NOT supercritical EVA. It is some secret EVA blend, someting similar to Chemically modified EVA (CMEVA) of Hoka. Hoka finally gave up and started putting supercritical foams (Mach 6) or PEBA in performance models. I tried this shoe and it was a day after my long run so I ran recovery run like you, didn't get a lot of pop and gave it to the fact that my legs were tired. I think Mizuno should put a better foam for the next version. Without the deep midsole void and plate I would sink in and not get out. Those elements are helping. And it probably feels better at higher pace because you sink in and the foam doesn't have time to expland so it firms up to become more responsive.
    I would buy this shoe but not at the current price. If they are available at some point at 30-40% discount, I want a pair for casual use. I did the looks and the upper.

    Very interesting, you're the first reviewer I've seen thats been fairly critical of this one which I'm all for if thats your initial impression; I would disagree on the intended purpose of Mizuno's shoe line up though, Rebellion Pro 2 is the race day, the Flash 2 is for the speed work but not designed for high miles and Neo Vista is for long up-tempo miles, its not a recovery or long slow distance shoe, based on Mizunos marketing information. That said, based on your initial impression, I feel inclined to wait for the SC Trainer 3, that looks like it's going to be a nice shoe with a similar use case.

    I was definitely disappointed with my 1st run, even as a midfoot to forefoot runner. It just felt like I had to work very hard in the shoe. I can only imagine as a heel striker these shoes are terrible, mushy and unresponsive. The forefoot definitely gives a firmer more responsive ride than the heel. After a few runs the EVA seems to be breaking-in a little and becoming more responsive. These shoes are also super stable for me as a mid/forefoot striker, largely due to the width, no issue with the upper, apart from running long for me.

    You’re one of the only people to give a straight up negative review and I appreciate that. I do have a question. The durometer measures the static hardness of the foam, but when you’re running you feel the dynamic response. Is there a difference between the durometer and the feel? Have you found any examples of soft foams that stiffen at speed? I ask because I’m a big low cadence runner and I usually agree with your takes. Things that work well for me (maybe us) might not work for these 5’5” 130 lb 185 cadence runners. High cadence runners will drive the foams at a higher frequency and might have a really different experience. Might be interesting to see if your top 10 shoes have durometer readings significantly different from the shoes you don’t like.

    medial is the inside or arch side, lateral is the outside of the foot. love vuori, i sleep in those pants too! GFs steal them. is your device asker C or Asker A? BTW i used to live in south park too, my first job for reebok. i am more of a traditionalist, never liked barefoot shoes and don't like big stack- my belief is you create a fulcrum and easier to twist an ankle. if you use the runners lace that top hole might be more comfortable. don't believe the hype!

I barely see any reviews on these brand on the internet as they're only famous in their country and it's maybe difficult to buy these outside CN (if not officially distributed). Really appreciate if you do so!

      Currently we have only chinese brands in Russia thanks to Putin, all big brands left us, and I can say chinese brands are bad, they only can copy some features from big companies and they still making it wrong, their geometries are wrong, foam formula are wrong, everything is not matching each. Chinese brands were trying to make good basketball shoes for decades, and they're still bad, same here with running shoes, so don't waste your money on chinese brands. Chinese shoes are BAD, chinese cars are BAD, chinese phones are BAD, chinese brands SUCKS! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

      The hoka skyward x or Mach 6 are the two I'd recommend. If you want that super high cushioned feeling with bounce, the skyward x is the one to get - especially if you're doing a lot of longer miles. If you want something fun and bouncy for everyday runs, then the Mach 6 is awesome and $40 cheaper. Both shoes have that nice rolling ride from the rocker and are a lot more versatile than the Neo vista felt for me out of the box
