Scott Joplin - Palm Leaf Rag (1903)

Here's my performance of Palm Leaf Rag, one of my favorite ragtime pieces by Scott Joplin. I hope you enjoy!
Recorded with two Line Audio CM4 condenser microphones, an Audient iD14 audio interface, and a Panasonic Lumix G7 camera.

@@RetroPianist Thanks for your response! The piano is probably one of the most technical and mechanical musical instruments. I read where the great pianist, Josef Hofmann was heavily involved with the details and technologies of recording the piano. He experimented with microphone placement and piano actions in an effort to get perfect dynamics. Earlier, before microphones, they made acoustic recordings using horns, etc. All that being said, I’m sure it’s still a challenge to record piano. Glad to hear that you will be producing more content. Thanks very much!

Beautifully played, Alex! I love this one too. My buddy, Max Morath, loved this piece as well. He just recently passed and in doing so we lost one more of ragtime's keepers of the flame. Keep on playing, Alex. There aren't many folks your age who appreciate what good music is. Bravo!
