    Sorry Manuel but you're dead wrong about the filler cap vent. Those one way valves only let air in, not out. When the fuel in the tank gets hot the vapors build pressure and the one way valve you showed doesn't release pressure.

      What would be the alternative?

    • @KellyWhitehouse
      @KellyWhitehouse 5 місяців тому

      @@BurningFeetAdventures I run a vent hose from the fitting down past the shock, that ends just before the rear brake master cylinder. The original factory configuration has a charcoal canister system up near the air box with that same hose from the filler neck. Most people delete the charcoal canister system when they upgrade to a Rade Garage, Rottweiler or Rally Raid air filter system.

      Late reply on a growing topic: uh, Kelly? You are 150% incorrect. Those valves are available on Amazon, 5$ US for a pair, they work great, have the exact same ones on my DS, Kove rally St Pro (3 of them) and hard enduro bikes, I also keep spares in my pack in case of a hard get off. They allow vapor to vent out and air in, but have a "roll over fluid stop" flap in them- much better than no valve, the ball in the cap (only works when completely inverted) or a straight dump to a can when you crash (charcoal/vent canisters are fire hazards etc), or a dump line to atmosphere by the wheel in dust (again, fire hazard), which also saves fuel- you loose a LOT of fuel when it's on it's side w/o these little nipple vents...see the video again. And after 45 years in the dirt, if you still doubt me and Manny, simply do a gentle suck/ hard blow-test before installing then install, shake the bike and put your nose to one- if you smell fumes, you know it's venting BOTH ways. PERIOD. Those little nipple vents WORK. Manny is correct, use those little two-way Amazon nipple vents, makes a huge difference. I use tiny zip-ties to keep them on the nipples. These have been out there for a long, LONG time for a reason. Kelly- Not a diss, you are obviously new to this, and that's cool, I'm just giving you the facts for your benefit, and others looking for a best result.
      Manny Lucchese- keep roosting mio pizano fratello! See you out there for some bar banging in the dunes you kookoo bird! Kaw-kaw! Braaaaaaap! Ti Amo: - Dr. Dirtbike.

      @@KellyWhitehouse either you pulled your reply or the admin did...I can only find it in my inbox... So with that?
      Quote to me: "I'm not so arrogant to suggest I know your parts better than my own. Having said that, the fuel cap check valves that I have are in fact one-way check valves. I have checked them..."
      Reply: Good sir- Actually, ya just did, and, You were directly addressing Signore Manny's nipple vent ( or "valve" for clarification"- ya know, the anodized bit with the stripes on the end of the hose connected to the fuel cap nipple you said he was DEAD WRONG about- and it is a 1-way as stated, for FLUIDS). And, again, YOU are wrong. BTW- check valves usually have a spring in them. The ball in most OE caps is stainless and free-floating, it rattles when you shake it and they only sort-of work when completely inverted and 100% motionless. There's more on that but I won't elaborate. Here's the deal- Just see 10:39 in the video: do that, go riding. Nuff said. Or not, your choice.
      Quote to me: "So if your $5 Amazon dog shit valves suck and blow, kudos to you."....
      Reply: Thanks, cuz they sure DO! And, angry much? Geez brother...lol!
      Quote to me: " Also, HTF do you know how "new to this" I am??" ......
      Reply: Oh that's easy, see the above. And I could elaborate, but I won't, the boys are showing up, time to ride.
      Run what ya like or what you think works best, I'm just here to help and correctly inform. Oh- and BTW: once you get a shop as nice as Manny's and have as much Dakar/Rally/HE experience as him (or me)? I will be all ears.
      Ciao!

    Personally I think the nice CNC stuff is perfectly fine, it's just at a realistic price. I have that exact fuel cap, no issues like you speak of. All the oil filter covers, fillers, etc etc. are exactly the same as the branded stuff.. Too much of all this rally stuff is grossly overpriced!

    • @ManuelLucchese1

      @@markfreeman6873 the filler does not have a breather if you race hard in a rally you will get vapor lock. We have seen it happen, then probably for normal dual purpose use maybe it does not give issues but for hardcore off road riding our experience is negative.
