Introduction to the critters: Tim is holding his cat, Lenny. Chance is holding Koda, Austin’s dog. Adam is holding the leash of Austin’s dog, Titus. Austin is holding his cat, Winnie. Rob is handling Satchmo, Tim’s dog. The original was by the Everly Brothers in 1960 and Linda Ronstadt covered it in 1975, which is the most well known version. The song has never been Country, unless you count this version.
The dog, Dexter, as well as the little white dog that ran Dexter off at one point, belong to Jimmy Bates, their videographer (and that's Jimmy in the various shots with him). Dexter actually shows up in a few Home Free videos, probably most famously the magic doggo in the older video for Any Way the Wind Blows.
I think Rob has a particularly warm and pleasant voice to listen to. He especially stands out in R&B style songs. Two of my favorites where Rob really shines are "What Christmas Means to Me" and "Givin' Up on You".
Great reaction. I definitely want to see more. If you want to see Rob rise to the occasion. Check out their Boyz II Men cover of End of the Road. Rib is a chameleon vocally and adjust to any style seamlessly.
Home Fry and new subscriber! Home Free has an original song called Catch Me If You Can; it is one of my favorite Rob leads! Thanks for a fun reaction! #HomeFree
Good to hear a reaction from someone who really knows Home Free already. You might have seen the guy at the end before, that's Jimmy Bates, cameraman and editor, who's worked with Peter Hollens, Pentatonix, Home Free and more. The lost dog is his, and has appeared in few HF videos over the years.
I agree with you. Rob is fantastic! So are the others in Home Free, but I want Rob to take the lead even more in the time to come. I want a great power ballade for him to shine even more! 😊😄😍
Rob may be underappreciated by the public but when Home Free was asked in a live chat which one of them was the best singer the whole band turned and pointed to Rob. Rob blushed. lol I love these guys.
No idea why I never came across your channel before! But I am happy I found it! Yes, I am a Home Fry so that may be why. As to what you were saying at the end, it is true that part of HFs success was the fact that they took the plunge to lean country with their music, which made them stand out from the rest of acapella. They did this right before the Sing Off at the suggestion of the show actually. But they tend to not really stick to country all the time. Sea Shanties says it all! LOL They have allowed us in their lives as well with their videos of family, their homes, favorite places etc. The From the Vault series is great isn't it? For every music video, patreons at a specific level get a behind the scenes making of video. Then a few years later, that behind the scenes video is released as From the Vault. The communication between the guys and their fans is very unique. If there is a problem, they tell us. If there is a debate on a album name, they ask us. Very unique.
Totally agree with your comments about Rob..when he takes the lead he brings what I like to refer to warm soul.. the original is an Everly Bros song (1957).. one of the forefathers of pop/rock harmonies.. keep up the great reactions..always follow the Bass Gang as well as their individual projects ☺️‼️
Subbing, because of your knowledge of a capella, your different perspective (branding), and you are so positive. (And, of course, because you react to Home Free!) 😊
This is a song Linda Ronstadt made popular back in the 70’s singing about herself as in When will I be loved and HF turned it to animals which was clever. The animals at the end are all Tim and Austin’s kitties and pups. Good one CF!😄😍
I think it's a 3 way tie for the "Cutest Video" award: "When Will I Be Loved", Tim's solo of "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" (on his channel) and Austin's original "Real Talk" (on his channel). If you haven't watched HFs videos "Spaceship" or "Dreamer" - those are 2 of the ones that feature Rob.
Yes, they are country a cappella. At the same time a lot of Home Fries are not country fans. For them Home Free is the only country act they listen to. On the other hand Canada and Australia are also big in country music, so it's not as restricted to the US as one would imagine
Home Free is the only country group and the only a cappella group I actively follow. There are a few songs from other artists in a cappella or country that I like, but I don't actively follow them, so all the algorithms on Pandora and Spotify and the like just don't work for me.
Oh, also, hubby and I love a show out of New Zealand called the Brokenwood Mysteries. The main character is a country music fan, and they frequently feature NZ country music. So, yeah, it's more global than a lot of people realize.
One from HF that I adore. And it's said Ellie, short for Eliezer. I managed to see them live in Göteborg last year. As neither Bass Gang nor VoicePlay tour I couldn't miss out a chance to see worldclass musicians live. Totally worth it!
Anyone else flash back to "BHH & WWTWWS" when they see Adam teasing Titus with the dog treat?? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Senior dogs are precious with SO much love to give! 🐶 Watching this one makes me cry, especially because we lost our elderly German Shepherd rescue 🐕🦺 recently 😭😭😭. Makes it hard to watch this, but all the same, great job, Home Free--thanks for spotlighting pet adoption!!❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️ #HomeFree
What a great song & message. I Love that Home Free is showing love for our furry friends & promoting an animal charity. Many need homes & need to be loved. Animals are great medicine & can help those with mental health issues. "When Will I Be Loved" was written & recorded by the Everly Brothers in 1960. Linda Ronstadt covered the song in 1975.
Grew up with the Everly Brothers version back in the 50s and then Linda Ronstadt in the 80s(?). This is so much fun. I think you're right about how good all of their individual talents are. And they are even better together. And I agree that they have stayed true to who they are as people. Whoever takes over from Austin will have giant shoes to fill. I surely wouldn't want to be in his position.
I will miss Austin he is a great singer of Home Free. This is a great song Home Free is singing. Rob did a great job. I can hear Tim's bass. The harmonies are great. I love Home Free and they are my favorite group. Austin is the greatest high tenor. Adam Rupp is the best beatboxer. Tim's voice is very low.😊❤❤❤❤❤❤
Check out Austin's solo (with Sebastien Douyon on piano) number What a Wonderful World (Animal Take). It's hard to concentrate on that wonderful song with Koda's and Titus's noses sniffing up for attention and their tales wagging back and forth. And then there's the #1 kitty of the house (who didn't make it to When Will I Be Loved) named Dawg jumping up on the piano bench next to Sebbie, then up on the piano when he won't stop playing to pet him, and ending up on Austin's lap, getting his deserved attention.
I guess you have to be older to recognise this song as a stone cold Everly Brothers classic. Love Home Free and the way they put such great messages in their music.
I think you are right and Rob is underrated by some people. I believe, however, that his bandmates have a huge respect for his talent and Tim has said that Rob is the best singer of all of them. Case in point was their original song from the Dive Bar Saints album, "Catch Me If You Can". Usually the guys each do a "demo tape" (showing my age... ) of the song and the one that sounds best gets the lead. Apparently, Rob went first for this song and the others said "Well, no point anyone else doing it really..." If you haven't heard it Casper, do give it a listen. It is sublime.
The animals they have with them are theirs. Tim has his cat Lenny and the white dog Satchmo. The others are Austin's he has Winnie the cat, the little dog Koda Bear and the big brown pitbull is Titus. This is an Everly Brothers song from back in the 1956 or 1957. They will not ever replace Austin because their is not another person like him. But they have always done a great job finding the right person. Really enjoyed watching your reaction.
Long notes are so hard to hold and keep in tune. Some great acapella examples are: Austin at the end of Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, Tim at the end of Ring of Fire (particularly since low notes take so much air), and Mark Lowry with Voctave singing Mary Did You Know.
The Fries are known for their loyalty but it's a totally symbiotic relationship. The guys are so sweet and approachable and they give so much to us as fans that it's easy to be loyal. I was surprised that you are so young. lol, I subscribed and I am looking forward to more HF reactions. For a different side of the guys, I would suggest Everybody Walkin this land.
@@CFEntertains ok I'll give you another one. It's a live recording called Home Free Kearney, MO How Great Thou Art 6.17.2017 Complete Recording. It was the guys singing one song after an outdoor concert was canceled. they walked through the rain to where the fries waited under a pavilion in hopes the storm would pass. It's off-mic. Just 5 guys singing while standing on a picnic table with thunder and lightning in the background.
Good luck reaching 6k. I enjoyed your perspective on the management side of this group, so I subscribed. This Home Fry will miss Austin, but I am excited to see the new beginning of this group. Every change can lead to growth. Good luck with TBG.
Seeing HomeFree concert next month. Have you heard Faouzia? Unusually, strong singer. 23 yo Moroccan Canadian songwriter. Check her recent "Fur Elise" Live.
About Tim being an A+ student… if there is something he thinks needs to be addressed, he will… and has lost followers on that account. Much love From a Danish Home Fry (who also thoroughly enjoys TBG

The Everly Brothers sang this song originally in 1960 & Linda Ronstadt covered it in 1975.

Thanks for the clarification! ADORABLE pets and great to know who did the song first :))
The Linda Ronstadt version was played on country radio. Most country music fans consider her a country artist.
The dog, Dexter, as well as the little white dog that ran Dexter off at one point, belong to Jimmy Bates, their videographer (and that's Jimmy in the various shots with him). Austin can never be replaced! Homefree will, however find a new amazing singer! It will be different but it will be a whole new chapter for us all.❤
so giga real
