    Great strategy for people with money looking to diversify their investments. I know someone who has done this in the pricy Bay Area. She has great cash flow on a home she bought 20 years ago and is breaking even on a property she bought three years ago having put 1/3 down. Ten years from now she will cash flow better and her equity will be through the roof. She did the same for out-of-state properties.

      Yes you might say that but More and more people might face a tough time in retirement. Low-paying jobs, inflation, and high rents make it hard to save. Now, middle-class Americans find it tough to own a home too, leaving them without a place to retire without any investment. Retirement becomes truly fulfilling when you possess two essential elements: financial resources and a meaningful purpose in life. Make prudent investment choices to secure good returns and ensure a comfortable retirement. .

      I see no reason for stressing yourself over these things when you can get a financial advisor. A financial advisor can help you determine if dividend investing is a good fit for your financial goals and can help you develop a strategy. They can also help you consider your risk tolerance, liquidity needs, and short- and long-term goals. Consulting a financial advisor can be especially helpful if you're new to buying and selling individual dividend stocks. You can also ask your advisor questions about reinvesting your dividends.

      Yeah thats called the "Real Return". On average the long term RR of the S&P 500 is about 8%. The other thing to be wary of is fees. The good thing about ETF's is the fees are very low. I buy VTSAX and pay 0.04% which is about as close to $0 as you can get. Much better than the 1 to 2% so called active managers charge.

    What some people don't know about investing is What's called the power of dollar cost averaging.
    If you contribute money every month no matter what, when the market is down, you're getting stocks on sale. Even though you may be losing money in the long short-term, the nice part about this is that when the market goes back up, those stocks that you bought at a cheaper price are going to greatly increase in value and you're going to see an amazing amount of growth during the next bull run.
    That's why it's important to keep on throwing money into your ETF during bear markets. If you don't invest during the down times, you're not going to see the growth that comes with the good times.

I do however feel a little better seeing that I am currently invested in a couple of the ETFs you mention, and that I came about those purchases on my own. I don't know if you've mentioned in other vids, but why do you prefer VOO over SPY, other than the expense ratio? Thanks, for uploading such GREAT FREE content!👊🏽

    • @shi3abooks
      @shi3abooks 3 місяці тому +1

      based on my experience with both ETFs, VOO has a larger dividend payout ratio. VOO=1.3% vs SPY=1.2%. VOO has a larger. Also, Voo has a lower expense ratio. VOO=0.03% vs SPY=0.09%.
      Two Benefits of SPY over VOO is that SPY has a way larger trading value making it more liquid (both short and long positions will be fulfilled faster) and a better selection when trading derivatives. (Meaning a bigger selection of Derivatives with more strike prices and expiration dates.
      So, Basically if you are holding long term, VOO is the better choice. (For short term or trading options you might want to go with SPY)

    Also explore selling some out of the money monthly covered call options on VOO. You can easily generate an extra few thousand dollars of premium per year. I just hit 100 shares of VOO this month. That is about $35,000 as I write this. 100 shares is the threshold to write a covered call; it makes a big difference.

By the tittle of the video, when making this projections, and talking about the s&p 500, are you talking about investing 100,000 in VOO alone and reinvesting their 1.6% dividend? There is an issue in using long term numbers to make short term claims. The claims are usually false.
    I do invest in broad market ETFs and mutual funds. I like the long term performance.
    Over 30 year periods the S&P500 total return has a lower limit of just below 10% annualized. So for time periods of 30 years one can use 10%. But for 20 year periods the S&P500 total return has a lower limit of about 7%. One should not use 10% for time periods around 20 years.
    And for 10 year periods the S&P500 total return has been negative. Expecting 105 and being faced with a loss is not a comfortable position.
    I am retired now and this year I am spending the money I invested 30 years ago. Next year I will spend the money that I invested 29 years ago. I should be saying we - my wife and I, as she is the one who said 35 years ago that we would be start living as if we were collecting Social Security. That allowed us to save a lot.
