Glad to hear rogue doing this, However, wish they would have announced it sooner for athletes to prep if they wanted too….cant wait to see if this is the comp for the record to be broken or if it will remain….
I'm all for records to be broken, and it won't be without accolade, but these 1kg jumps will never compare to the 35kg jump Eddie Hall made when he went from 465kg to 500kg. What made Eddie's Deadlift so impressive wasn't just him hitting 500kg, which was monumental, it was by how much he increased the record by, effectively making it impossible to beat in competition for 9 years+. To beat that record by the same amount, a deadlift of ~537kg would have to be made. That's how impressive his lift was imo.

No guest lifting bullshit, only people invited and expected to do the full comp have the opportunity to set a record. Set a record and then do more lifts and not nearly die in the process....it'll be one of the, maybe the single most impressive feat of all time!
I honestly think it’s just to get people talking. A lot of strongman fans (myself included) think the max elephant bar is getting old, they seriously do it every year since it’s been introduced (aside from one). So I don’t think they care if anyone actually breaks it, no loss to them if not, but gives people a reason to talk about the event more when it’s pretty safe that Thor will win, Mitch/Trey/Bobby will be fighting it out behind him for second, etc. Really seems to me that they don’t care about the record and just want to make people more interested in the event
Speak for yourself! The raw elephant bar deadlift is the main attraction of the Arnold and it's the only reason why I'm going there! I don't care about the other events.
There is a risk that Thor can loose the record, because if Mich Hooper, Rauno Heinla, or Trey Mitchell are at their best prep, then at least one of them can pull 475 kilos and break the WR. If this happens, then Thor will have a big dilemma on his hands, expecially if two or three also manages to go 470+ kilos. Because if he has pulled 465 kilos on his second lift and three guys has pulled more than him before the last attempt, then he would rater play it safe and win, instead of failing a 501WR and lose a lot of points on that faliure. So i don't think he will try the 501, unless he has already won the competition with his second lift.
I think they are following what Hafthor wanted to do as break the record and continue in the competition. That's what he said he wanted to do. Is that the right decision for Arnold's....maybe not.
101k is good. I think it should be higher due to what these athletes do to their bodies to make the attempt. Of course I'm not the one paying it so don't have a say.
To be frank, it seems clear to me that this was announced specifically for Thor because his deadlift WR attempt fell through and he knows he won’t win the Arnold with these events, so he convinced them that he’d take a crack at the 501 for them for the right price.
The only incentive for Thor to break the record is the money, and at the risk of losing the competition because he would be the only one going for the record. No point 50kg ahead of the second place and no one else fighting for the first place. With so much effort spent just on the deadlift, does not put him in a good position to win the competition. He should focus on breaking the suited 505 elsewhere and then on the Arnold's next year.
They should have an open class that they can wear a suit and straps . Lets be honest the man is still lifting the weight . If they want to wear protective gear to prevent injury i understand that . An injury could cost the person a whole year of training .
@@hydniq3327 I don't think a suit helps prevent injury. If anything I'd think it raises the chance because you're pulling more weight, putting more strain on your body

YOU GOT THIS HAFTHOR!!!!!!
so why is Thor training with a suit if Arnold's will have raw deadlift? Is he focusing on WSM or world deadlift championship or something?
Hafthor or Mitch to do it at the rogue invitational this year 👀
There is a risk that Thor can loose the record, because if Mich Hooper, Rauno Heinla, or Trey Mitchell are at their best prep, then at least one of them can pull 475 kilos and break the WR.
We have to point out that an elephant deadlift will never give you quite the same cred. iI’s not like sumo or anything, but still cannot be compared.
5:07 no, not better *suited*!
I'll see myself out
I feel its just there to hype the comp a bit
bruh liz is shredded wtf O_o
Trey might have it
Thor needs to do it at a competition to make it legit .
Wold record for elephant bar should be good. Hope moose ate his canadian bacon😂. Geat show guys
To be frank, it seems clear to me that this was announced specifically for Thor because his deadlift WR attempt fell through and he knows he won’t win the Arnold with these events, so he convinced them that he’d take a crack at the 501 for them for the right price.
Healthy people look so much better
Its crazy
The only incentive for Thor to break the record is the money, and at the risk of losing the competition because he would be the only one going for the record. No point 50kg ahead of the second place and no one else fighting for the first place. With so much effort spent just on the deadlift, does not put him in a good position to win the competition.
He should focus on breaking the suited 505 elsewhere and then on the Arnold's next year.
He's got absolutely no chance of winning Arnold's this year with two press events
@@branominal What ever they need for protective gear to prevent injury is all i'm saying . 2 smaller lifts then the big lift . Keep the guys warmed up and fresh to do their best .
💪💪💪
500 is just asking way too much on the elephant bar.
I mean Thor got it to his knees in 2019 and speed repped 474kg. I wouldn't say it's asking "way too much".
He can do it, if not this year then next year
If there is any bar that someone is going to pull 500 raw on then it's the Elephant Bar. The extra bend makes it quite a bit easier.
Making it RAW in the Elephant bar makes this twice as difficult!
@@jamesmaitlandstewart08 Not really, Elephant Bar is easier than a traditional deadlift bar.
Thor didnt do 505 but 501. Im sure thats what you meant.
Give guys 6 week to pull 500 plus kg
Yeah, you cant just spring this on people last minute. Someone might break the 472 record, but they wont pull 501 on short notice.
I don't believe that 501kg will be broken very soon. Maybe next year?
Rogue are offering 100,000 dollars for Hopefully Thor to break the 501kg deadlift record.
