Kudos on the video. I have had the biggest crush my whole life regarding Rock Hudson. Every Saturday morning I watch reruns of McMillan and Wife. His personal life and choices were his business. AIDS has taken too many great people. May his memory live on. Thank you for the memory trip today.
Thanks for sharing that. Very cool and I don't think you're alone. I was just thinking about McMillan and Wife the other day and wondered if it was available to watch anywhere. I used to enjoy it. I liked everything Rock did. It makes me sad when big stars don't have graves to visit. I'm glad he at least has this cenotaph.
Norma Hird I believe in spite of everything, Rock contracted Aids from a blood transfusion, during his quadruple heart, surgery. A sad twist of fate. He was a wonderful actor. Come September, and Man's favorite Sport are Hilarious movies, in case you haven't seen them. Then also all the movies he, and Doris Day made; equally, wonderful. Thank You, Steve.
You have definitely got Hollywood Graveyard beat with this video. Arthur Dark has yet to visit Forest Lawn Cathedral City so your video is my first viewing of this Forest Lawn location. Obviously, it is not Forest Lawn Glendale, but it has a unique charm all its own. You are very blessed to call Palm Springs home. Thank you so much.
I still have others to visit at FL Cathedral City, but Rock Hudson was always one of my favorites, so he was at the top of my list. My grandparents lived in Palm Springs from the time I was born, until they died in the late 1970s, so I've loved it here my entire life and do very very fortunate to call it home. Thanks, as always!
I had to mention Mark Miller, in Please don't eat the Daisies, tv show. I remember as a child, adoring his role. Patricia Crowley, I think her name, played his wife. She was very beautiful. It was a nice show, and sadly seems forgotten.
Very nice tribute to Rock Hudson. Haven’t seen a lot of his movies but I do recall the episode of I Love Lucy which he guest starred and his short term role on Dynasty.
For 30 years I owned Chelsea Pines Inn in New York City, and each of the 23 rooms was dedicated to a film star, each room boasting at least a dozen original film posters from each of their films. Amongst the most popular rooms were those dedicated to Ann-Margret, Tab Hunter, Rock Hudson and my personal favorite, George Nader. It was great fun to tell the guests, from all over the world, about each star. Shortly before he died, I wrote a long letter to Nader, telling him about my lifelong devotion. In return I received a "George Nader box'" which included signed photos, a German book dedicated to his career (his Jerry Cotton films were very popular there), a first edition of "Chrome," and a signed copy of "The Perils of Paul," Nader's self-published roman a clef about Hollywood. May his memory be for a blessing.
I really enjoy your videos and thank you for sharing all the cemeteries you visit. I have been to Westwood Memorial Park and want to visit so many more. It’s on my bucket list. I have always been a fan of celebrities and it’s so interesting with where they are buried and knowing how close you are to them! Thank you! 😀
I love the german george nader JERRY COTTON movies......i have the vhs and dvd versions.....also have the soundtrack vinyl and cd ❤G E O R G E N A D E R❤
I am kind of like Rock Hudson. When I die my wishes are to be cremated. My family knows that I love being by water so they can scatter me at river lake creek etc. So even though I love visiting cemeteries there will be no marker for me. Love your videos and your personality. Thanks 😊
I agree. I'm going to be cremated, but since I love cemeteries, I've decided to be interred in a niche in one of my favorite cemeteries. Your family can always place a cenotaph marker somewhere as a tangible memorial, by the river or in a cemetery. Thanks for the kind words and for watching!
I loved the Rock Hudson movies when i was growing up here in Australia. 'Giant', 'Bombers B52' etc. Rock was a big Star here. Rod Taylor, his co-star in 'Bombers B52', was an Australian but I don't think many people here knew that at the time? or that Rock Hudson was gay? It would be great to see Rod Taylor's grave. He was prolific in Hollywood, including in the movie called 'Hotel'?
Yes, that's the cenotaph. But it was much different for his remains. Instead of his ashes going in the channel off California, his ashes were released in the Oregon wilderness. Tom Clark brought me ashes. We went up into the mountains and released part of them. It was Tom Clark and his current partner. George Nader and Mark Miller, myself and Rock's half sister. After we had released half the ashes, she asked for the rest. She buried the remaining ashes next to his biological father in Grants Pass, Oregon.
@@TheGraveyardChannel I met him on the filming of GIANT where I was Liz Taylor's stand in understudy. She was only 5'0" and he was 6'4 1/2". I knew him for 30 years.
I recently watch an Andy Griffith episode. Andy was sent a young lawyer to be an intern and Barney got jealous and quit. Mark Miller was the intern. George Nader played a doctor friend of Miss Ellie's (Elinor Donohue) of whom Andy was jealous. The of course Gomer was part of the cast too! Wow, 3 gay men in one t.v. series in the early '60s. Who would have thought, especially back then!
I would like to have a synataff made for my mother and have it placed at Alta Masa cemitary I PaloAlto , Ca. She was a huge fan of Shirley temple- black who was laid to rest there.
I never cared for Tab Hunter even ad a teenager, always suspected he was gay. Not that it meant anything, I didn't care for his looks or his acting. That being said he did live a fairly long life and actually looked a lot better at an older age. RIP Mr. Hunter.
I'm always surprised, too, when famous people choose not to be remembered. He only has this cenotaph because his friend included his name. Otherwise, there wouldn't be any memorial to Rock. Thanks, Rick.
There haven’t been a real leading man on the Big screen with such masculinity and pure sex appeal since Rock Hudson. He has such passion and sweetness at same time. God Bless Rock and Elizabeth Taylor they sure as Hell don’t make beauties like that anymore. Stay Corvid and HIV Free Cheers 🇨🇦
Here is what it says on Hudson's estate website www.rock-hudson-estate-collection.com/about-us.html : "Rock chose to be cremated and he wanted his ashes buried at sea in reflection with his love of the ocean. We left on a private yacht out of Marina Del Rey on a foggy day. His closest friends aboard. Some of the guests included Stockton Briggle, Mark Tillman, Ken Jillson, Al Roberts, Jack Scalia, Claire Trevor, Emily Torscha and George Nader among others." After his death, Nader was also cremated and scattered at sea. There's no mention, that I can find, of Miller's ashes. I don't know why, but I'm always surprised when super famous people, like Hudson, decide not to have their ashes interred somewhere where fans can visit and remember them, or when they have no memorials. I'm glad that Hudson and Nader at least have this cenotaph.
I know someone whom knows what happened to Mark Miller's and Tom Clark's ashes. Rock did not want a funeral long before he knew he had AIDS, he was a good friend of actress Marilyn Maxwell's and when she died at 50 in 1972, the press covered her funeral and Rock thought it was a circus and that is when he decided to be cremated and scattered at sea.

Yes, I've heard various stories over the years. Sounds very sad.

Rock Hudson one fantastic actor. One Hollywood grate. I have a friend. Who is related to Rock Hudson. Susan Kimmel.

I followed her Facebook page for awhile.
Rock Hudson Top Man! we only found out he was Gay after he died, he had a lot of female admires as well, I loved his films, still do :)

Hi Marilyn, thank you, so much, for the correction. It's nice to know that his closest friends and family spread and buried his ashes in this way.

Sad that Rock Hudson was taken before his time along with so many other famous people.
Sad to hear that Tab Hunter passed, he was such a charming man.
It's especially sad since there are so few stars remaining from his era. Fortunately, they live on forever, on screen.
Remember George Nader on an episode of The Andy Griffith Show. He played a doctor.

I'd like to have a bench and/ or a tree in a park by a pond or fountain in memory of me after I die.
That sounds nice.
There should be a cenotaph near the ocean for those scattered at sea,. It would be more meaningful.
i agree. that would be really nice. thanks, raymond

Would like to know if you can do a blog on freddie mercury, tiny tim, and other rock and roll singers.

Why is Sonny Bono's statute so short?
he's sitting. the video probably didn't show that.

How about finding the grave of Patrick Macnee, the star of the Avengers TV show from the 60's.
i will see if i can find it. find a grave says he is buried not far from where i live, here in the desert. thanks for the suggestion, phyllis!

What's a cenotaph?
It’s a memorial marker, but the person’s body is not there. Thanks for asking Stuart. I should’ve explain that better in the video.
Ask Alexa if you have one she will give you a great answer, not being flip, she does.
