Thank you Mir! I have been waiting for this video. Good to see boom loops aren't completely gone.
To do standing LK cancelled into flash kick: you need to press LK while you're moving the stick from down to up.
This is called charge partioning, you can find videos of people demonstrating it.
I was just wondering this looking for good guile guides. Does it work on the dpad too or is it a stick specific thing
I imagine it would work on dpad, but it be a matter of timing attack buttons more than anything.
if you’re struggling with it like I was on stick, I was able to learn by releasing the stick from D so it returns to neutral and pressing LK at the same time and then immediately push the stick up and press HK
@risefm001 thank you that worked for me on the d pad.
whoevers reading this just a heads up, just like how there is a perfect sonic boom there is a perfect flash kick. when he says somersault it does less damage and when he says flash kick and it is green then it does more damage. some of these combos are with flash kick and some are with somersault so the numbers will be different. great video otherwise
Copy. Thank you.
idk how you do standing LK into flip kick
Charge buffering. I think you should use negative edge
Nuckeldu has a good video about it. Basically you charge and in your way up (to do the kick) you are forced to go neutral. In that gap that you are in neutral press lk and "continue" up. At the beginning it's a bit tricky, but when it clicks it's actually not hard.
You my friend should go look at urien headbutt loops on sf5 , he doesn't have them anymore, I don't think but it's the same strategy, you're basically doing the kick from crouch charge to standing
Input fast from d- df -f -uf. While on f press lk. The Hk on uf
@@weaponx8263no need negative edge
Great stuff! A combo I have been using a lot is Stand HP xx Drive Rush xx Stand MP -> Stand MP -> Crouch MP xx L. Sonic Boom -> H. Flash Kick. Turns out it actually works with a non perfect sonic boom, although that extra frame of hitstun makes things just that much easier.
How in the world do you get the sonic boom off after getting Cp? I will start holding DB right after second MP but it doesn't come out. Same with Flash kick
Thanks Vesper for this very useful and helpful video! Guile is my weakest character right now and I really want to get a lot better with him. I always seem to have problems with charge characters.
Thanks for making this. I've mostly been using the combos I learnt in the combo trials (aside from the advance ones, which I've yet to even attempt in a real match)
Those install supers are top-notch, off i go to the lab! thank you so much :) 6:34
I need to practice charge characters. I can do perfect booms no problem but as soon I have to implement a move in a combo outside of the super basic ones I cant do it
Excellent Video of Guile's Combo's. I'm familiar with Guile over the years so this definitely help out with some combos I'm working on.
how the hell are you doing a flashkick after doing a standing LK
Best guile video out, thank you
Thank you for this. I do the combo at 6:12 in my matches all the time now lol
@1:05 how can you do a standing light kick into a flash kick? don't you break the charge by doing the standing light kick? how do you keep the charge?
you hold down, release press lk and then do the charge move
timing is kind of strickt but reliable
How are you guys weaving in a standing LK/MP and still holding a charge?
I love SF [hit Master with Abel in 4, so Manon is great for me] But Charge characters just aren’t clicking for me.
I have to work on how to properly hold a charge when ending some of these combos. This is a good video.
Thanks! Very usefull vid!
How do you manage to do stand light kick in a combo without breaking your charge for a sonic boom or somersault?
same. I would like to know how to as well
I believe it’s called charge buffering. There’s a VERY small window where you can let go of down and the game will still hold your charge. You can stick a quick attack in that window.
Ye but i’ve been trying for almno 1 hour and half and still i can’t even do the second combo because of that lol
@@anthonychavez9667 I can do it on a hit box about half the time, but not on stick or d-pad.
This technique is crazy hard to do consistently
Patiently waits for E-honda combo guide to come through lol
Are there any posts explaining the charge window?
At 1:06 you can let go of down back to get the st LK but still keep charge to XX into FK. I'm just not sure how that works. I thought once you let go of back/down back you lose your charge. It seems there's roughly 10 frames you can have charge once you let go but I'm not sure
im confused about this too, is there a trick to it im not understanding?
@@joeychimney remember that when going from down to up you briefly transition to neutral, that's where there the st LK comes in.
There is a small window (I'm unaware of how long it is, unfortunately) where the game keeps your charge when you break it. This is what allows you to do standing cancels, walking charge moves, as well as to just compensate for sloppy inputs (most people don't go from back to forward or down to up in a single frame)
I know supers have much longer windows in which your charge is stored, which makes it easier to perform them (as they require a more complicated input)
how to do standing lk>flashkick?
Really really need to turn on your inputs so we can see how you are charging for some of these.
thankyou working on guile combo trials
Very cool video. Guile's music is straight doodoo though. Jeez.
PC 5HP 3HK D-UHK is the meterless optimal route for punish counter, after a PC DI you get the same route just skip the 5HP
awesome guide (: so far I manage to land every combo up to 2:28 I just have some questions though:
I'm not really sure how to call this, but some combos use the "trick" where you charge a move and as you move through neutral, you input a light kick.
I've noticed that sometimes you go for:
C.LP > C.LP > D-U (for example, at 1:45)
and at other times go for:
C.LP > (charge trick) LK > D-U (for example, at 1:03)
Is it simply range dependant? I've noticed that they seem interchangable so far and do the exact same damage. since C.LP > C.LP is easier to input, I'm thinking about going for that, but on the flipside, some combos require that trick and so it would be a good opportunity to practice the input.
The other thing I wanted to ask was do you know when you're allowed to cancel a D-U into a level 3 super? It seems dependant on the previous move, as every D-U in neutral can be canceled into super, but not always during certain combos.
Anyway, thanks for the guide (: I still have a lot to practice.
LK has more range than C.LP and some combos will only work with the former, requiring you to do a standing cancel.
As far as your second question is concerned, somersault kick will always cancel into a LVL3 as long as you have charge and get a deep connect (Guile hits them as he's leaving the ground, when he's doing the "running man" stance). The charge time on a LVL3 and a somersault kick are the same as far as I know (at 45 frames) so if you can do the special you should be able to get the super as well. Hope this helps!
One thing that really helped me out was to **hold forward down slant (to charge), then press backwards up slant & kick to get flash kick.** THEN immediately press forward, back, forward kick for the lvl 3 super!
If you and do crouch medium punch combo into lvl 1 then you can do the lvl 3 flash kick cancel
Fantastic
Love those drive rush combos!!!
How do you cancel the flash kick into super. It looks right away
The input you should use is charge down+back, then hit up+forward and kick (this will give you the flash kick), then back, forward and kick. The first two inputs are counted as part of the super input, as the game checks if you hit left and right (which you have as part of the diagonal inputs).
You can also do it as db, uf+k, db, uf+k which is the motion I personally tend to use, works on the same principle
@@mir2266 thanks this comment helped me a lot. Still finding it tricky to hit consistent flash kicks/cancel using a fight stick/joystick but I'll get there!
Damn, Guile got some combos!!!
Appreciate it. Going to lab some of these today.
Excellent Guide...
for combos like the one at 0:34 how do you charge the super from that position? I have trouble throwing the sonic boom unless I exaggerate the back button
Noob question: For the first few combos, how do you LK without interrupting the charge?
I'm also stuck on guile's advanced 2 combo trials that also need this.
the trick is to hold down first, do the neutral move, then up + K. So if you want to cr. LP LK Flash Kick, you do cr.LP, then LK, then immediately up + any K. The timing is strict but doable, just go to the lab and practice a few rounds
Perfect boom hard
I remember watching combo trials for Street Fighter 4 on this channel, and I dropped off for Street Fighter 5 since it was a terrible start on release and never tried it after they fixed it up. Glad to see you're still on the grind, Vesper. Thank you for the quality information!
Here's another optimal variation in the corner using sonic blade and cross. ua-cam.com/video/Lh7qp6D1pLI/v-deo.html
6:50 time stamp might favorite combo omg
I can not do the Medium Punch into Heavy Punch and flash kick. It never comes out lol
Thank you Mir for the videos, what are the differences between sonic boom and a perfect boom? Do they have different travel speeds?
NICE COMBO!
A punish counter I really like does ~42% if I recall correctly.
HP (punish counter), B+HP xx H level 1, EX flash kick.
HP comes out in only 7F and links to heavies on punish counter. Some really strong punishes come from that move. Don't just throw it out though, it's quite negative on block.
Crossfire... SOMERSAULT!
Question for y’all… guile’s cr LP and LK seem virtually interchangeable. cr LP just seems like the better option, when and why ever use a cr LK?
cr LK is used to whiff punish and go into DR since it can cancel into one unlike cr LP also slightly better damage for harder execution
how do u do the second combo with sLK into flash kick
do you just gotta be fast?
You want to be charging down the entire time, then release down, hit neutral and light kick, and then up and kick immediately after to perform a flash kick. There is no particular trick, you do have to be fast, it will require some practice but is doable!
@@mir2266THANK YOU
I think I have tried 10 million times to cancel into somersault kick from standing LK. No idea how.
Never mind I got it on the 11 millionth time
I didn't try Guile yet, but how you can cancel MP, B+HP to Flash Kick? I don't think there is enough time for charging.
big newbie at street fighter and charge characters here, for some combos, i can see Guile doing a LK or HP just before doing Flash Kick, does that means he releases charge before doing those ? How is that possible ?
How do you get the flash kick after 5k i dont have enough time to buffer it before the opponent can retaliate or block.
I find he’s back forward back hold ultimate very difficult to do in combo.. any tips
How do you get standing light kick into flash kick? Isn’t that…. Impossible?
Hey vesper can you do close standing strong into close standing fierce instead of chaining to standing strong punches then link to his standing far straight feirce punch?
Getting the perfect boom after b.hp seems very inconsistent for me
Please show the inputs for next charge character haha
Salute.
any tips on getting the flash kick in to lvl 3 cancel i cant seem to get it in time
down-back to up-forward(this is the flash kick) to left then right very fast i think usually before the flash kick connects
Awwww yeah
I really wanna master him but a hate charged character I suffering so nada any tips 😞
Let's go
How to do Standing medium p into crMP
Does anyone know how to combo into level 1 I don’t know how to?
most of these combos has a frame gap, which is not ideal in case of backfire.
Any anti air combos ?
Transferring to a cheat sheet and running off to the lab! Thanks Vesper!
how to do back heavy into super one is there a shorcut for it something i dont know ?
You can hold back heavy punch (keep holding), then do forward-back-forward punch kinda fast (and clean).
So charge while back punching, then special move cancel forward, back, forward punch.
Try it after crouch medium, crouch medium into lvl 1 and it’s the same
How do you do a standing normal into a flash kick pls?
You want to be charging down the entire time, then release down, hit neutral + the normal (can also do this with b+hp), and then up and kick immediately after to perform a flash kick. There is no particular trick, you just need to be fast
is the combo loop using the back light kick removed ?
I'm also curious if the knee loop is removed
Yes. It was nerfed.
Are these on modern controls
Cmon man of course not
Whew 😅
Too difficult
How tf is he charging the lvl 3 special at the same time hes flash kicking? Cheat box? I cant do that on stick unless theres a trick im missing
Do you mean canceling a flash kick into a LVL 3? It requires a special input, first you need to hold down back to charge, then press up+forward and kick (for the flash kick), then back, and then forward and kick again. Since the game registers the diagonals as successful horizontal inputs, this gives you a super cancel. Note you can't end the motion in down+forward, it has to be either forward or up+forward (19K46K in numpad notation)

Who cares about hands anyway. To the lab I go.
I main guile and I will never be able to do most of these. I’ll be stuck in gold forever. Average 42 year old street fighter bum.
You can get far with strong fundamentals and game sense.. I suck at combos beside bread and butter and I'm a D1 Guile..
So complicated just to do 2 punches,1 kick and a special move…
Street Fighter is the worst fighting game ever
MK player detected hahahahaha
@@sweetpeaches6957Tekken really doesn’t. The motion input for kazuya ewgf forward, *wait* slant forward. Tekken is harder in timings and proper combo extensions. MK is harder because you have to press so many buttons to get a special move cancel into combo extensions. Each game has its difficulties and nuances.
I don’t blame you. I’m primarily MK and Tekken and SF is testing my patience lol. Not in gameplay or combos but in the Drive gauge system. My brain can’t comprehend doing the exact same move as my opponent *later* than them to beat them! It’s backwards!
That’s primarily how I lose matches
@@sweetpeaches6957 one I’ll get my hands on sf6 i will try the new controls
@@keloing923 for me it was mind blowing that it doesn’t have proper moveset with strings like mk and tekken, or that you can combo off a d1
Yeah ima just uninatall this game now. I dokt even know what the damn abbreviations mean
how the fuck do you do standing light kick into flash kick?
You want to be charging down the entire time, then release down, hit neutral and light kick, and then up and kick immediately after to perform a flash kick. There is no particular trick, you do have to be fast, it will require some practice but is doable!
