- Hey guys! So I've been in Finland for what seems like most of my life lol I've fallen in love with the language, people and just the country itself. Jukka is completely right about learning a new language. We have to learn like babies, first we learn how to speak and then we focus on grammar and the rest.
That is true.. Also note that statistically Finnish children don't learn to speak any later than children in other countries. So in that way Finnish shouldn't be any more difficult than other languages..
Actually .. It's so easy that even a child can do it!

@@pokedick2000 True. Learning another language similar to what you know already is usually easier than a totally different language.
I do disagree on the latter part. Learning languages is difficult. It takes about 1 year of intense learning for a child to learn the language and even he (or she) doesn't become totally fluent until 3-5 years old. It takes a lot of time.
Especially considering that babies also learn the language when in the womb.
Jukka-Pekka Tuominen I shouldn’t have used the word ”easy”. What I meant was that it in general it would take the same amount of time for a baby to learn Finnish as it would take for another baby to learn English.

Im mexican and been living in Finland for almost 10 years, and have to say you understand a lot already! I wasnt speaking a shit until the 1st year when I got into the te-toimisto language courses... But beware, when you start learning the "partitiivi" you might cry tears of salmiakki with tapatio :D

You did so good with Finnish, it's such a difficult language but you'll do great, especially while living in Finland and hearing kids tv shows and stuff apparently helps alot since they speak very clearly and slower. ^^

Finnish and German are both beautiful languages in their own ways! I think germanic and finno-ugric languages have such an organic flow to them.

My Dad's side of the family is Finnish. My name is Melissa and my grandmother pronounced it "Mell-Lisa" with her accent. No one in my family speaks the language anymore. Its sad.

I'm watching two Finnish tv series and girl... that's a hard language, so congrats! My first language is brazilian portuguese (is a bit different from the portuguese they speak in Portugal) and I also speak English, I'm learning spanish now, is really fun to learn new languages, but it's hard work.

It’s not uncommon in Finland to be fluent in 6 or 7 languages, but its expected to learn at least 4.

Why is Bosnia so “ethnically divided”?

First of: I am not an expert and theres so much more to it but thats all i know
Second of: Bosnians count as Muslims, Serbs as Orthodox and Croats as Katholic.
The reason why we all riddiculously hate each other is religion.
1. It is mostly because of Yugoslavia. Yugoslavia was a state made of several countries in the Balkan area which were Bosnia, Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Kosovo and Macedonia. It was communism and stayed from 1918 - 2003. A lot of Croatians and Serbs moved to Bosnia in that time.
Although it was communism that says that everybody is equal it wasn’t really the case. Bosnian people didn’t really have it easy in that time mostly because we are Muslim and were stated as minority. The states goal was to earase the influnce of the Ottoman Empire on our culture and the faith in our religion, and they succeeded that with a lot of our people. It took a really long time for us being accepted my the government.
2. The war that we had, had a really bad impact on the country.
In 1992 Bosnia became in independent country and got finally out of Yugoslavia. The Serbs didn’t really like the idea of us being independent and startet a war that same year for an ethnical cleaning (kill all bosnians) to create a Great Serbia. After a few months into the war, bosnians has nothing left to defend itself and so the Serbs basically treatet us like shit. Locked up in concentration camps, woman and little girls being raped, men and young boys killed etc.
In 1995 the war ended with the dayton contract, which basically said, that Bosnia still stayes complete but 49% of it stayes unter the government of Serbia (Republkia Srpska) which also is a major reason why so many Serbs are living in Bosnia.
3. The Croats worked with us in the war until they noticed we have no resources anymore and threw is under the bus by joining the Serbs.
Croats were stationed in certain cities (mostly bigger ones) in which also Croats moved into.
