As a soccer coach and fan this is hands down my favorite manga and anime. Unfortunately the manga really leaves you hanging more then the anime. But still there's so much detail in everything it's very accurate. good video
I'm still surprised that a very good football (most famous sport on earth) manga like Giant Killing did not get more animated seasons. Yet a volleyball manga like Haikyuu (less famous sport than football) gets more attention. People too obsessed to anything highschoolers/middle schoolers related.
Yea a lot of anime wwtcher is highscool or in teens but i wish something like giant killing in bsketball version like the miami heats today they are like underdogs
A lot of people don’t watch a lot of sports anime that’s why haikyu made a big boom in it just like kuroko no basket but yeah I agree with you that this is a gem of a manga that gets swept under the carpet a lot of shows still don’t get a lot of love like haikyu
I don't know jack shit about soccer (nor do I really care). But Giant Killing is my favorite sports anime, every thing seemed realistic. The situations, the highs and lows; I was constantly at the edge of my seat when watching this show. I was immersed in the games, intrigued with the characters development, and appreciated the view points from the fans struggling and maintaining their allegiance towards ETU. Definitely a good watch.
Great review. I'm not generally a Sport anime fan, but the way you review it makes it actually seem watchable. I think I shall give this one a watch ;)
Great review! I should really check this out... Im glad they actually took time to focus more on the culture rather than some shonen esc football matches.
Been catching up with the manga, it’s a great series. I was curious about the anime, but not sure about the style. They’ve done a good job capturing the characters likeness but it’s definitely different from the manga. I would like to see a revival of this.
got referred bc im a big be blues and ao aoshi fan, this manga is nearing 500+ chapters, glad sports and delinquent and time travel manga taking over the manga scene ahumdillah
I'm not really a football fan, so while I admire the fact that they make things realistic, it doesn't look like there'd be enough beyond the sport itself to be that interesting for me, and the fact it didn't wrap up the story would bug me a lot too.
Just in case you'd like to check out other 'good' sports anime, those are some of the best, if not the best (from what I've heard): - Touch! - Cross Game - Ashita no Joe (mango > animu apparently) PS: give Gintama a try too Gintama - 232 dafuq time ! best comedy anime really
www.pokecommunity.com/showpost.php?p=8207146&postcount=19 You can follow this list (if you haven't already completed it of course) and watch the individual comedy episodes afterwards. imgur.com/LDTxCWc - because I hate typing the same thing whenever someone asks me why I'm skipping the comedy episodes. The comedy (thus far) is actually pretty clever and well written [I can go into detail if you want, since I had nothing better to do in school, so I wrote a text wall - one of my friends (that one on that pic) wants to know my thoughts on it once I finish it, so I don't want to disappoint him]
AnimeEveryday - Anime Reviews yh gintama is long, one thing i did was watch in between animes that i was watching at that time. Then slowly you cant help but watch every episode all day haha
+AnimeEveryday Actually, I don't think "tactic" is the right word to use. Giant Killing refers to the act of a weaker team taking down (killing) a stronger team (giants). It's not a tactic, but more of the idea of what they are trying to accomplish. On wikipedia, it redirects "giant-killing" to "upset," so I assume that it is an actual term, but the word "upset" is used more often than "giant-killing" when talking about an underdog beating the favorite to win. Right in the first couple of minutes in the first episode, the english dude that's speaking mentions how they are "watching a weaker team trying to take out a stronger team", and that they "owe that miracle to one man, that young Japanese...a miracle we've come to call 'giant killing'". This concept is further emphasized when he tells the sub team he picks (in the first episode's minigame) that "this is the beginning of (your) giant killing". He also tells Tsubaki (in one of the early episodes) to bring out the giant killing within him (or accomplish his own giant killing or something along those lines). So...yeah, it's not a tactic but basically a phrase that's summing up the underdog story. It's the goal of ETU to fulfill and accomplish "giant killing" by becoming strong enough to take out those stronger than them. It's the perfect title for the series.=) Sorry for replying to an old comment.
Ive read the source material and I'll like to offer another perspective. The story never landed with me for two reasons. One, the art style was just too weird for me and I see the anime adapted it. I just couldnt get passed how weird everybody looked and two. The character Pepe. My god, as a black person I was shocked to see this character, everything about him was a racist sterotype, even the way he was drawn. It was so bad that it just killed any emotional investement I had in the story and I was dissappointed when I saw that the anime saw no issues with how he was even drawn. I know many consider this series underrated but for me, personally, I'm certainly not crying if this series never gets a second season.
Guys, the manga continues the story of the anime, and it's absolutely brilliant. It's still going on.

@@zurk2488 the manga is better than any football manga ever... still the anime did not get more seasons... I fuking hate the audience interests....

I absolutely love your reviews and how professional they are. Keep up the good work!
I’m not a soccer fan but I stumbled upon this when it came out and loved it.
I agree with you 99%! I didn't really like the OST myself but I loved how accurate the show was to real life profession football.

This is anime actually looks interesting, which I have never said about a sports anime before.
Great review! I should really check this out...
Im glad they actually took time to focus more on the culture rather than some shonen esc football matches.

Where can you watch this in NA?
Are they gonna continue to make the anime ?

I knew with that that title that this show is gonna be awesome
I'm not a football fan but maybe later I'll try it....
Great review. I had no idea that an anime about soccer/football existed. As a former soccer player, I think I'll watch this sometime.

Why again is it called "Giant Killing"? ._.
Its the tactic the manager uses the beat(killing) the big teams(giants).
