    My "lawn" work was cleaning the driveway of 7 in of wind blown snow and getting the ice and snow packed tire tracks up with the metal ice chopping shovel. Never a fun job scraping that stuff up always feel it the next day. But going to stay cold for a while still so got to get that up and its too cold for salt to work so.

    Good to see ya back mate, I read a while back that you could also use just washing detergent to help it stick to the leaf. Does that work lol

    • @chevron916
      @chevron916 2 роки тому

      Washing detergent doesn’t have the same surface tension as commercial surfactants. So not as effective. A good way to demonstrate this is get the kids to blow bubbles using detergent versus bubble solution. I can guarantee that the detergent won’t produce bubbles as well. This is because the bubble solution contains glycerin or molasses which increases the surface tension. Allowing the detergent to hold more firmly to both surfaces as air passes through.

    Good video m8, lawn is looking good! Just wanted to point out that (even though I'm sure you can get away without it) it helps to add AMS to your tank before you add gly to increase the efficacy. If you don't use AMS the ions in the water will bind to the gly and reduce it's effectiveness. It's important to add the AMS to the tank first so that none of the ions can bind to the gly. It can also boosts effectiveness of gly against some species of plants regardless of the water issues, I think this is due to AMS being a fertilizer it boosts growth slightly and helps the plant absorb the gly. MSU recommends using AMS with gly at a rate of 17lbs/100gal so ... 1/2lb AMS for 3 gal. I usually have some AMS on hand anyway since I spray either AMS or urea to spoon feed N. Just my experience and some research by the fine folks at MSU. Hope this helps ya out!

    Glyphosate is an ionic herbicide and deactivates when hits the soil as it binds with the ions in the soil. Hence why you need to apply to the leaf.
    Also the chemical that was added to the sprayer with the glyphosate is a surfactant. This increases the surface tension, not breaks surface tension. But good try being a chemist Ben 👍🏻😉

I Scarified, scalped, aerated, topdressed, granular ferted and it all came back great, couch patch included but the kik isnt invading the couch like I'd hoped. Would rather a slow takeover instead of digging the couch out and having a massive dirt patch for ages. Maybe next fert i do should avoid ferting the couch patch and avoid watering it too maybe? With nut grass I have found awesome results with a glyphosate with an active ingredient 540g/L, 720g/L or higher. I have also added liquid sulphate of ammonia and a wetter/adjuvant to help penetrate. I also use a foaming base applicator - just reused an empty carpet cleaning spray bottle. I then apply a massive foam drop in the centre of the nut grass.

Its just delivery is always a issue for me with the delivery drivers. Often they wont unload a large delivery without a fork lift or someone helping them, which means you need to be around all day waiting for them and not out earning money. And then they wont commit to a delivery day until last minute, and then getting a time of the day is also hard. I will stop winging and touch base when i can.
