    I have been working towards replacing my gas tank for nearly 2 months. Trying to get everything ready and waiting for a day that was about freezing, raining, stormy, windy snow cold. I went for it today after doing some small things to get it ready. Upon trying to get the gas tank into place I was sure that someone sent me the wrong tank. It looked right but it didn't want to go in. After trying again and again I was not going to give up it finally went in. Thank you thor. Then connecting all the pieces it is done ..whew!!!!!!

      J. R. Thompson Hell yeah man!! The rear tank can a bit difficult to install. It has to line up just right. I’m glad you finally got it in!🤙

    Another solid video tutorial, that allows us to walk through the process of replacing the tank, while also providing some pro tips to make things less complicated during install. I’ve got a 93 F-150 XLT and your videos have been very helpful the past few months while doing several projects on my truck. Thanks for sharing your experience and taking us along for the ride 👏👏😀

    Great job and explanation. However, the two bottom factory straps, and the two factory top straps have "insulation strips" which are necessary for rust prevention and anti-vibration. You must not strap your metal tank directly to the metal straps. The factory would not spend the time and money to add these insulation strips if they were not necessary. Without these strips you get metal to metal rubbing and a storage area for water and road salt to collect which will eventually cause a leak. Since you removed this "insulation strip" with the power wire brush, you needed to replace it with something. A good fast replacement is Butyl Decking tape. This is super sticky, really thick, and non-sticky on the top side.

      @TheMinuteMasters  2 місяці тому

      Very good point! I’ll have to add Butyl tape to preserve my tank.

    My 94 f150 only has the rear 19? gallon tank. Would be cool if you did a video on swapping in the larger Bronco fuel tank and pump. Filling up my truck ever other day gets old lol.

    Pretty good video bro....I have a 89 F150 and the front tank has been gone for quite some time now and I plan to just use the rear tank...LMC Truck has a 38 gallon tank that will go right in place of the old one....my question is....because there's not a sending unit for the larger tank(I don't think) how do I adjust my sending unit for the larger tank🤔

    • @TheMinuteMasters
      @TheMinuteMasters  5 років тому +1

      Yrusonoz 79 Nice! So I always recommend keeping both tanks and pumps because it’s a great fail safe. Nothing like having a back up pump. You can always put different fuels in each tank. Regular for the street in one and high octane in the second.
      Anyhow, what you are doing is called the bronco rear fuel tank swap. I don’t know much about it other than you need the bronco fuel tank straps and you won’t be able to store your spare tire under the bed. As for the pump and sending unit. I would say you need to use the bronco pump and sending unit in order for the set up to work. I’m not sure what you do with the middle tank and the selector switch. Now, you should become a member of a Facebook page called OBS Revolution. There’s definitely members who have done this swap and they can help your better than I can. Good luck though and thanks for watching!🤙

      About the gas tank, I just bought an OBS Ford F250 1991 and it's missing the front tank. Since I'm shopping for the front tank I might as well increase the size of the rear tank. I don't have much money right now so if you would send me a link to were you purchased yours and how difficult is the install? Please and thank you

    I dropped my tank last year to replace the fuel pump and it was a nightmare. I ended up cutting hatches on top to help with hooking up filler neck and fuel pump lines well now I need to replace the leaking fuel tank and I think I’m going to use my cherry picker and raise the bed off the frame then while the bed is off I’m going to wire wheel and clean all the areas I can’t get to from underneath

    • @TheMinuteMasters
      @TheMinuteMasters  3 роки тому +1

      I ran into the same issues. I dropped my one tank to repair the float on the fuel pump. Not a fun job. A couple months later the pump died. So I cut a hatch in the bed so I could access the pump. A couple years later my tank started to leak through a rust hole. So I replaced the middle tank with a plastic one. No issues since then.
      The rear tank is probably not a bad idea to lift the bed. Otherwise, you have to drop the spare tire carrier.

    How long do these tanks last? Is it a good tank over a steel one?

    • @TheMinuteMasters
      @TheMinuteMasters  2 роки тому +2

      The steel tanks probably last just as long as the originals. I have a plastic tank for the front tank and I bet it will last forever.

    Dude I appreciate this video it helped tremendously I followed your instructions but I put a new fuel pump in mine. After I was done ,took for a test drive and everything was good. When I pulled in my driveway I left truck running to check for leaks. When I was doing this fuel started coming out of the front tank cap. So it’s pushing fuel from rear to the front causing it to over fill. What did I do wrong? The only thing I can think of is I crossed the two fuel lines. Do you have any suggest?

    • @TheMinuteMasters
      @TheMinuteMasters  5 років тому

      patrick batman No problem man! 🤙 Glad I could help ya out!
      So if I remember correctly the fuel lines connecting to the pump are different sizes in order to avoid switching the lines. However, you can check to see if they are different. It certainly sounds like that is the problem. Now did your new fuel pump plug up to the old harness or did you have to cut and solder on a new connector?

    • @patrickbatman9299
      @patrickbatman9299 5 років тому +1

      The Minute Masters I did buy the fuel pump where you take parts off the old one and put on the new. So I did have to use butt connectors for a positive and negative wire. So it was the exact same wiring harness that plugged in. I made sure it was clean and it clipped back together nicely.

    • @TheMinuteMasters
      @TheMinuteMasters  5 років тому

      patrick batman Good! Then I’d definitely check the fuel lines to be sure they are correct too.

    Does anybody have any hints about how to replace the rubber brake line that goes from the chassis to the rear axle? I've found the parts, but just not sure about how to get the air out of the brake system. The "S-bend" in that rubber line has me concerned. Have a 1990 FS Bronco and the rubber lines are original and look pretty bad.

    • @TheMinuteMasters
      @TheMinuteMasters  4 роки тому +1

      You would replace the brake lines as you normally would and then you would bleed your brakes. I think the bleeder is located within the brake drum assembly, if not it’s outside.

      BE PREPARED Nice! You can buy fuel tanks from just about anywhere for a pretty good price. I’ve bought fuel tanks from Amazon and from Raybucks.com. Here’s a link to the front tank:
      Spectra Premium Industries Inc Spectra Fuel Tank F14C www.amazon.com/dp/B000C7TVYW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_DkpyEb0N86DAV
      If you want to increase the size of your rear tank, you will need to buy a fuel tank from a bronco. To make that work you will also need to buy the fuel tank holding straps from the bronco as well. If you go that route you can’t store your spare tire under the bed.

      @@TheMinuteMastersthis is why I come here. I'm sitting here thinking. Why would I NOT want a bigger tank since I need to replace mine. New tank straps? No problem. Oh wait... Can't store the spare tire down there anymore? Not for me. Why I love coming to your comments section.

    On the tank straps one hole is round and the other is elongated. Which one goes where?

    • @TheMinuteMasters
      @TheMinuteMasters  4 роки тому

      J. R. Thompson The round hole is the bolt and the elongated/slotted is for the “T” slot end.

    • @j.r.thompson5950
      @j.r.thompson5950 4 роки тому +1

      @@TheMinuteMasters When I removed the straps I did not pay attention to which end went where. All 4 holes have bolts that go in them. I was thinking that the elongated hole allows you to get the tank in position with the straps on the truck.

    • @TheMinuteMasters
      @TheMinuteMasters  4 роки тому

      J. R. Thompson Actually that is true. The elongated hole allows for some adjustment. I’d say, as long as the tank goes back under the truck fine and fits snug. It doesn’t matter which way the straps are oriented.

    Do you ever give one on one advice? I want to just do the front tank -- OR rear tank and leave the other out of it ---- I need written instructions on some of it -

    • @TheMinuteMasters
      @TheMinuteMasters  7 років тому +2

      Gary Rice I sure can. It's best you leave the mid tank out. From what I hear them rear tank can be swapped out with a bigger tank from a bronco. You will need to put your spare tire somewhere else. Also consider the benefit of having two tanks. First you have tons of fuel and second if a pump fails you have a back up tank and pump.

    • @riceski
      @riceski 7 років тому +1

      Thanks - just saw this. Well I got suckered into putting pumps in both tanks. The price ranges from 68.00 ea. up to over 500ea. I opted for the 200ea. combination. Mine needs pump - wires - sending unit - gauge - float . ... All of it. Someone took out the right one and put a Chinese pos in. So we had to start from scratch.

    • @TheMinuteMasters

      Gary Rice It may have seemed like a lot of money to shell out but you're better off. Now you know the exact condition of your tanks and pumps.

    Where is the video for painting your gas tank?

    • @TheMinuteMasters
      @TheMinuteMasters  4 роки тому

      J. R. Thompson So I just checked and I can’t find it. I don’t believe I would have taken it down. Well, I guess I’ll have to make another. But it’s pretty simple.
      1: wipe the tank down with acetone to remove oily residue.
      2: tape off the filler spout, fuel pump hole, and vent hole.
      3: then spray away. Do at least two coats of primer and 3 of color. If you really want to make it last. Spray on a couple coats of clear.
