Can we get a longer version? I would line up to buy this album.
Make it happen Charles!
YAS!
Same
yes!!!
Same for a lot of these types of videos. Like the wah pedal and the e bow
This has boss music written all over it. Would be a dope track for a game.
@@matthewlawton9241 He plays his OWN soundtrack hes such a final boss!!
I’m thinking doom if it had a bit more gain
I have images (in me brainpan) of Sonic flying across the screen.
It's a Behringer, not a Boss.
Lol, agree! I was thinking this music would fit perfectly in a Mega Man X game.
This sounds like Command & Conquer music, love it!
yes
You would like industrial metal songs.
This is EXACTLY what I was about to comment. Glad to see I am not alone. Epic!
I was about to comment exactly that. I've being re-playing the remastered Red Alert, and spending much time hering the music and some insane bass solos. Hahaha
One of the best things you have ever done! It had a MUSE vibe.
Dude, this shit was so fire that I’m gonna learn it on a damn synth
Do it!
@@CharlesBerthoud I was going to write something similar, so I’ll answer “get my drink”
@@CharlesBerthoud Dag yo- this track is fire!
Production thought for future tracks with synth pedal (please): split the signal and capture a clean copy in parallel. That way you have the post-production option to mix more of that good ol' thump into some parts.
@@CharlesBerthoud
KLAAASS !
🤝
@@CharlesBerthoud see my friend, you are an inspiration! You have definitely inspired me to practice.
NO F'ING WAY!!!! It is SO hard to hit those notes PERFECTLY, otherwise it sounds terrible with the effect pedal on. INCREDIBLE JOB, sounds like the BEST STAGE EVER of a MegaMan
FING in Hungarian means fart
Does sound like a MegaMan X mini boss theme.
@@dammtag1295 there's an apostrophe though, so you wouldn't pronounce it "fing."
Well, it's Charles playing, no surprise actually.
Even with a noise gate??? Real question.
Love the innovation and creativity in your playing, just excellent!
Oh my Fuck!!!!! Your bass sound is amazing and your chops are ultra impressive! This is my first time hearing your work. Bravo! You should release a full length album. I'd certainly buy it.
I want an entire industrial metal album with this as the main instrument.
Sounds good to me, but you gotta have Tommy Victor and Al Jourgenson on there somewhere.
@@43captrexkramer or maybe amelia arsenic
Probably you are going to like The Algorithm band.
@@43captrexkramer And MUSE
This comment highlights Charles short coming for sure. Charles is absolutely amazing but needs to join a band to be a real musician. UA-cam is great but also bizarre that a kid can sit in his room and make vids sometimes as short as 1:00 minute and that’s fame.
I'd buy an album that's just Charles being creative with this style... God this sounds cool.
If you like this then check out the band Liquid Tension Experiment (John Petrucci, Jordan Rudess, Mike Portnoy and Tony Levin).
@@HandbrakeBiscuit You know what? I think I might just do that... Thanks for the recommendation.
Also check out alien by northlane, it has the same feel and tone but a bit harsher
MASTER BOOT RECORD scratches this particular musical itch for me. It's a guy basically doing hyper-advanced MIDI with gaming+classical inspirations.
@@aidenafshar9274 First time I've heard of them. So far they sound like a new-age Crossbreed / Stabbing Westward. I dig em, but very different style to Charles song imo
Unbelievable. Best bassist on planet earth! That's some John Wick soundtrack stuff right there!
Watching you show all the posabilities throughout time is very inspiring.
Thank you.
I love this! Sounds like it could be an epic anime intro, and the rhythm gives me some Welcome to Bucketheadland vibes
Buckethead is the best
Buckethead on a bass is something to behold.
Look at the size of those shoes!
@@markoldfield4736 RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!
It's megaman?
Sounds like it would be an excellent soundtrack to something action-packed.
I was just thinking it would fit Uktrakill extremely well. (very goid game btw)
It sounds like a megaman x boss theme lol
Sounds like music fit for an Epic Mega Games game, like One Must Fall 2097 or Tyrian.
Doom if it had more gain?
Sounds like music in a horde shooter
Wow. I looooove this. Awesome use of effects, and fantastic playing.
This is stunning, even by your standards. Who needs a band when you’ve got this!
I loved that little nod to Muse. Chris Wostenholme really pioneered a lot of today's synth bass playing!
I knew another person would notice
Do you mean at the end when it sounds a bit like Hysteria?
@@distortingjack Nah, around 0:36 where it sounds like Supermassive Black Hole.
@@TheOczkowski the end riff reminded me of Stockholm Syndrome
Squarepushers been pioneering this shit longer than Muse. Seriously check his live videos (especially London Koto 2005)
Fucking wow, had some epic Mortal Kombat theme vibes going on there. Would love to see you give that the Berthoud treatment 👍🏾
Remind me of a song you would hear when fighting in Mortal Kombat 11.
@@austinmeyer_238 Mortal Kombat 31
If mortal kombat theme was the easiest song
I had the exact same thought..
I would also like to see this
I love this tone. Great!!
Pure awesomeness! Between Skryllex and prog rock, I was waiting for a big drop to boot. Dude, that seriously rocked it.
This sounds like I'm in the 8-16 bit era video games during a boss battle. Would love to hear you put together an entire album with that in mind. Can't wait to hear more!
If someone showed me just the audio and said this was part of a new Dream Theater song. I wouldn't have doubted that for a second. So good dude!
Oh, DT! I got that good Muse vibe, specially 37 seconds in ^^
Definitely not DT
Mung would approve
Yah, I was thinking DT, and also Stabbing Westward, the thing I hate
@@steveschu Mung??!
This is so sick man. Nice work
Who needs a whole band when you have Charles, a bass and a bass synth pedal! Excellent!! 👍
That was the tastiest sounding set of licks ive heard yet. That is exactly my style. Please make more of that. I love how diverse the songs you create are from one another. Its truly God Tier bass playing.
Yeah.
Sure as fuck
If I hadn't seen this played with my own eyes, I would have sworn that a keyboard was involved. That is one of the coolest things I've seen done on a bass, and it is hugely inspiring.
you were there for the recording? if not i'd bet he did quite a lot of work on the ole DAW editing and adding to this track
This guy is phenomenal at performing and improvising. Amazing talent!
Amazing playing and incredible sound.
After several months consideration, I’ve decided that this young man is the greatest bass player in the world. Simply stunning. He makes me seem like I’m dancing with lead boots on.
Yes
Keep dancing. Get buff!

Yeah just because YOU said so.
Definitely one of the most technically skilled players out there, but many points deducted for being a tacky, insufferable showoff 😄
Sounds sorta like “Supermassive Black Hole” by MUSE but low-fi really. Definitely can see them doing more stuff like this though
Was thinking the exact same thing!
Yeah definitely got muse vibes from it too!
more like a mix between Hysteria and Stockholm Syndrome in some parts. Great stuff
I was thinking supermassive and hysteria myself, but yeah!
The first hit sounds like Madness, 0:07 sounds like Stockholm Syndrome and 0:37 is pretty much Supermassive Black Hole.
Loved the vibe, bit of Rammstein feel, awesome!!!! Keep surprising us with your awesome talent!
Can you please make this into an entire full length song? Man this kicks so much ass.
Yeeah i would like that too. I would listen to it all day
Insane.
I'm 61 this year and have been playing music for almost fifty years. Your talent and innovation are incredible and inspiring.
Well said!!
That's insane. I'm pretty sure there is a world where Muse would bring massive hits back with that kind of pedalboard. As always, you do a wonderful job to make the bass shine. These vibes. Ah ! So great. Could even fit so well for bands like Rammstein ? Charles, you made my day once again !
Would it be possible to have some insight on the pedals & the mastering behind all this ? Pretty please!
So far, I can recognize
- Darkglass Adam bass distorsion bass
- Behringer Bass Synthesizer BSY600
Have you heard the latest work from Muse? It’s MASSIVE. Thing is what makes a ‘hit’ now is very different from their 2006-2010 hey-day. But if this latest stuff had come out then it would be just as big as Supermassive etc.
That would happen but only as a variant that gets pruned by the TVA.
This sounds almost exactly like an older band from the UK called Ozric Tenticles.
This is so amazing sounding!
So fun. Great stuff.
The good part about Lockdown is that I found your channel and now I'm in love with the bass. Next month I start learning to play❤️
You’re gonna kill it, my man! There are so many tutorials out there, Charles even has some as well! My #1 tip - start slow… don’t try to learn any crazy ass shit on day 1. Good luck! 🙌

I’m going to get a bass after I finish my exams and I honestly can’t wait! I’ve even tuned the top 4 strings of my guitar to sound like a bass and I’ve been practicing on there lol
That's surprisingly good tracking for a Behringer. They are seriously underrated because of their price, but I constantly find myself impressed with what their pedals are capable of.
Behringer make great kit. Very underrated for the price point...
Electronics are cheap. Nobody needs a $200 or $300 pedal.
Behringer is cheap because they rip off designs
The reason the big companies have more expensive pedals is that developing all that tech is expensive but copying what’s already been done costs basically nothing. Especially when you own a whole manufacturing town.
I own most of their pedals but avoided this one because I heard the tracking sucks. Ordering it now.
Phenomenal! You never fail to impress me with your skill and creativity. Amazing!
I think you have outdone yourself...those are some wicked riffs and the effect just pushes them over the edge! 😮
The tapping/ hammering in the higher register reminds me of a Jordan Rudess keyboard solo... in the best possible way!
In a word...OUTSTANDING
🤘 👍 👍 🤘
Maybe he picks up the bass next 😆
He sounds like Liquid Tension Experiment - All four guys at once!
I thought the exact same thing 🙂
Its clearly a Muse cover
@@szrnkabela He picked up guitar basically because he was bored and is already in the same ballpark as Petrucci in terms of raw technique. I wouldn't be surprised if he does it with bass next. haha
This man is a ferocious beast. I remember just two or three years back and he only had a few thousand subs and then Davie504 hired him for a Fiver video and the world was properly exposed to this thunder stick phenomenon. Cool, I didn't know the story. Thanks! :)
honestly, I got to know about him from Davie504 too!! but he earned an insta sub right away and now I may miss Davies vids but never his! Good to see he is getting the subs he totally deserves. heres to many more millions 🍻

Hey Charles,
Since my discovery of your talent I've retroactively explored your journey and find it remarkable. I feel like you put yourself out there in so many ways to get your music out and despite this not being your preferred medium you've been able to adapt to it and your audience and embrace the opportunity. I thought so as well...tune is slamming, but thatpart you reference is my favorite part....
I think you stumbled on what his next challenge should be, can he use a pick
@@Durkhead I've been waiting for that type of video! If it turns out that he rips with a pick too, I'm going to be sick to my stomach and throw out my bass. Ha. Not really but I'm guessing he doesn't have much interest in pick playing.

Ты что творишь ? Это незаконно же !?!
Отлично звучит, впрочем как и всегда !
Yes! Bravo! 👏 More please! 😎🙏
Charles, you are phenomenal and fun to watch.
Man was that really the pedal? The tracking was insane and Ive never heard a synth pedal or any octave pedal (POGs, whammys, whatever) track that flawlessly at those speeds. Fantastic playing like always tho
wait, why would an octave pedal or a whammy pedal need to track the input pitch? Don't they just need to pitch by intervals input by the user?
@@DaDandyman yeah you just set the intervals, POG only does octave up and down, but the pedal needs to track your pitch to then transpose or harmonize that pitch in relation to the set interval. If you have a whammy and a bass try playing on the lower register. You'll see it just glitches the hell out. Like the whammy tracks super well I was just impressed that a behringer synth pedal could track that well. That is, if that is in fact the pedal in the video. The EHX microsynth doesnt track this well. Hell, i have a meris enzo which is a dedicated synth engine that costs 300 dollars and it doesnt track this cleanly lol
It also tracks like a robot because Charles Berthoud PLAYS like a robot. There’s literally nothing to misinterpret.
@@solomongarcia72 that behringer pedal is a lot of fun but it absolutely does not track this well, and its monophonic so definitely can't handle the section from 0:50 onwards
