    To be honest I love the new combat system. It's a lot of fun and quite easier than the previous one. Especially with the chain and also the core charges. I was confused when I was playing last night when I couldn't use my items to charge my CC. I didn't understand that it charges in battle and I don't need to recharge it with unused items. I love that I don't have to do that anymore. It's definitely a good change. This vid is really helpful. Thank you so much!

    • @Swrinny
      @Swrinny  3 роки тому +1

      Definitely agree with the improvements they've made! Funny that you mention the CC charging because I was stumped as well, like "why can't I use my items from the start??". Especially with being to heal outside of battle now, using items and 'sacrificing' them as you had to do in Ryza 1 feels so much quicker and smoother

    I was worried I was doing something wrong with how badly I was with guarding, thanks for the confidence boost!

    More for total newbie:
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Q : where to get the "+" / "++" version of skills. --- A : level up / do the party quests
    Q : what do they do. --- A : the + version have xtra effects aside from different animations, see formation/status > open status screen > hit [X] to toggle the skill page
    Q : how to trigger "+" / "++" version of skills. --- A : you need to execute the non + version first and you will see the skill list text change to + version. (do not release [RB] !!)
    Q : how to properly execute a chain. --- A : start with [B] button for normal attack if want to, then quickly HOLD [RB], pick a skill quickly, eg : [X] - if you have a "+" version of the skill, spam [X] a second time to execute it, continue selecting skills until you ran out of AP, then quickly spam [LB] to switch to standby character, KEEP [RB] HOLDED!!, then start picking skills to execute again.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    *Example : [B] - [RB HOLLLLLDDDD] - [X] - [X] - [A] - ran out AP >> SPAM [LB !!!!!] >> [X] - [X] - [A] - till you ran out AP*
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Think of the [LB] as the "SWITCH" action you seen in anime like SAO. Frankly I probably will welcome a "50% slower" game mode... 😆😆 it is a bit too fast...

    have to admit the battle system is addictive to me even from the beginning unlike most other jrpgs out there. used to play several jrpgs and in years my preference rendered toward action battle system like Ys Tales Star ocean series, yet strangely to me Ryza 2's battle is more attractive than Ys lacrimosa of dana.....

    • @Swrinny
      @Swrinny  3 роки тому

      Right! It baffles me how they moved from a traditional turn-based system to something as addicting like this over the course of just a few games. i wonder how they'll improve it further for Ryza 3

    Hello. I want to thank you for this guide. I was hoping to ask a question about swapping characters for action orders.... I wasn't quite sure what you meant when you said that you should swap so the character you are currently playing gives you an action order as well. I thought you were only able to perform one action order out of the ones that appear? Admittedly I just started today so I might be missing something but could I receive clarification on that? Thank you.

    • @Swrinny
      @Swrinny  3 роки тому

      Heya, glad it's helpful! :) As for your question - there are times during battle when action orders appear and usually all characters have one at the same time. But seeing as you're controlling one character, that action order isn't shown until you switch to another character. So if you're fighting and do your action orders, you can swap to another character afterwards to receive another action order. Hope this helps!

    • @Swrinny
      @Swrinny  3 роки тому

      Right! You'd think they would at least make it necessary in some boss fights or something, but it's just... there and pretty unimpressive :p

    • @Swrinny
      @Swrinny  3 роки тому

      Depends on how much you want the game and value your money of course. It should keep you busy for at least 50+ hours which not all single player games can do these days.
      Gust doesn't quickly drop the prices for their game - but they've just recently announced a package with 3 older Atelier games - Atelier Mysterious Trilogy DX. Definitely more bang for your buck :D

  • @makhailtalinio

    Why is there no explanation of how you engage enemies and they become powered up? Im pretty sure there was a tutorial about in the beginning of the game..like enemies combine before battle?

    • @Swrinny
      @Swrinny  3 роки тому

      Heya - that tutorial basically said "if there are multiple enemies in an area they can get an area bonus". From my experience they only get that bonus when they stand really close to each other and even then they don't always seem to get it. I didn't include it because of this vagueness and also because it doesn't really change anything; you can either focus down the enemy without a buff because he dies quicker or you can focus down an enemy with the buff to stun him and remove the buff. In both cases - having all characters attack the same enemy works, which is included in the tips. Hope this clears this up a bit!

    what is your favorite team composition? i'm still new and trying to find if there's any particular/interesting synergies between characters, but other than checking the enemy weaknesses and picking the characters with magic/elemental abilities to counter them, i'm still not sure if i play good.
    it's not easy to find people streaming and showing their fights :( i play in hard difficulty because i really want to use all the combat system features, but i'm pretty sure i'm still not efficient enough to play this game :D (i love to "min-max" every games i play! haha)

    • @Swrinny
      @Swrinny  3 роки тому +2

      My favorite team composition is Ryza, Lent, Patricia & Klaudia. No particular synergy between them, but between all those characters you have a good mix of physical/magic and all elemental attacks. Then depending on what the weakness of the enemy is I take control of the one that has the effective attacks.
      If you're playing on hard difficulty from the start and managing well, you're most likely playing good :D
      If you're looking to min-max you'll have to go crazy in the vast Alchemy system with the right traits and effects. The weapons you can create for the characters kind of show what their 'specialty' will be. For instance, one of the weapon effects for Ryza is specifically catered to increase the effect from battle items. So if you build upon that, and get really powerful items, she can do massive damage with just that. But as you can imagine, her skill damage will be quite a bit weaker. If you wanna know more about this make sure to check the alchemy guide I just posted - it shows what you can do with all different alchemy systems :)

    Thanks! I had stopped midway throughout Ryza 2 as I went to play Sophie 2 and Blue Reflection 2.
    Now that I've finished those two, I'm back to finish Ryza 2 and found that I had forgotten so much of how the combat worked, and the game ingame guide is a bit too superficial on some aspects. This video was a great refresher.
