What an incredible class! Very few people in Brazil have access to quality English courses, because the courses are very expensive. Your classes are a gesture of great humanity and generosity, thank you so much, you are an amazing teacher and person!
I am Lenin Zuniga, I from Cusco, Peru, I was really interested in your tips and videos. Thank you, I hope you continue, congratulation. I have learned with you.
thanks so much! it was a great explanation. I know that I must practice much more for learning well about modal verbs. However now I have got the way....the way I've learned in this video. Congrats!
You are one of the splendid teacher online, hence I want to tell this that please make a new lesson based on ‘causitive verbs’ ... I already thank you 😊🎷
Hello Christian, I have a question about the modal verb COULD as possibility. It is a bit confusing to me as you mentioned the past of could is created with present perfect but then there is she couldn't wait for impossible in the past. My question is: Can COULD as possible/impossible be used in the past without present perfect like in: They are late. They could get lost. They could have gotten lost? Thank you for your class and dedication. Inspiring as always.
Good Morning! the channel is very good !!!!!!! Congratulations! just a thing ... the song "background" is too high, preventing a perfect listening class.
Vanessa Rodrigues ele deveria usar um local com mais tratamento acústico. e o áudio da vinheta dele é 2x mais Alto que o som dos microfones, até assusta.
Please, make a video whit the exclusively use of SHALL :) You are the most best... (Yes, I know it's not correct to say "the most best"...) But, really, of the best you are the maximum... The most best english teacher on the world... I would like to suggest to put off the music when you speak, like on this video... Some times is a bit plaguy... Thank you genius!
Hello Mr. Christian, another awesome lesson. Thank you for you content. I am here watching it once again and I have a question regarding the acronyms on the graph: LLC and ICE-GB. What do they stand for? Thank you in advance, Rodrigo P. Honorato - English Black Friday
You´re a really good teacher. I just wonder about "to be allow to" The example you said was "My mon allow me to do something" But there is not verb to be there. I could say "my mon let me to do something" instead. Isn´t more coomon to use "let" in that situation? Coming back to the structure "to be+allow to"for replacing "can", wouldnt be better to say "I´m allowed to eat cake"? Thanks in advance.
Morning! I have a question: The books we use to teach English at schools say that MUST is for an obligation imposed by me. --> "I must get on a diet." (But if there is some pizza at dinner, I have it and there is no fine. I can start my diet tomorrow.) And, HAVE TO is for an obligation imposed by others. (Like a law) --> "You HAVE TO wear a uniform." (It's a private school), or "You HAVE TO stop if the traffic light is red." What are we doing wrong? Are the books oldfashioned or are we still in "the past era"? Or it's ME who is wrong? I'm sorry if I am. I hope you resolve my doubt. By the way, I really love your classes and I am able to understand every single word you say. I'm so happy!!! Regards from Argentina. Claudia*
Thank you very much for this very helpful lessons. could you please tell me what is the differance between might and could since both indicate possibly.
+Alia Al Thanks for your comment! Might and could for possibility are very similar and in most cases they are interchangeable. To help you understand the subtle differences I will need to make another class soon!
I have a confusion regarding bare infinitive that is used after almost all modal auxiliaries. Infinitive doesn't function like a verb, so modifying words like adverbs can't modify the bare infinitive for instance - work, run etc. But in this case ( you should work hard ) what the word 'hard' modifies ? Is this the bare infinitive 'work' or something else given in the sentence.please explain sir..I seek your reply soon on this...thanks
Hi Christian, Could you able to explain me this whole sentence -- "Hardly ever before in history can the decision to embroil a great nation in war have been taken so wantonly and with so little excuse." And also, what is meant by "...and with so little excuse" This sentence I have picked up from Cambridge dictionary. The sentence is made using the word "embroil". I know the meaning of the word "embroil", but I cannot able to apprehend the whole sentence structure. Thank you in anticipation.☺☺☺
"Hardly ever before in history" means that the decision (object) taken before (also in the past) was never taken in a easy way (difficulty to be decided, accomplished) and "with so little excuse" means that the decision was taken or decided with weak/poor arguments supporting the act of invansion. Overall it means nowadays countires invade other countries with no plausable excuses and they those who provoque wars they do it easily not like in the past that in order to do that would be more dificult or burocratic. I understand the meaning, i dont know hot to put it in a easier way rather than this.
When we use a modal verb with present prefect then we are using the modal verb to talk about the past. So modal+have+participle=modal past tense. I hope that helps!
+hamza fadel Thanks! Have a look here at some fantastic resources from the British Council: learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/en/english-grammar/verbs/modal-verbs/may-might-may-have-and-might-have See you in class!
Canguro English well, for example: "I'm sure he bought a new car" and "he must have bought a new car" they both are corrects? or the second sentence is better than the first one? thank you, saludos from Chile
May I ask you something my favorite singer is Kelly Clarkson and one of her songs is piece by piece I want to know the meaning of piece by piece .is it idioms
Hello! In the song 'Piece by Piece' she is singing about being broken, and how somebody put her back together piece by piece, little by little, step by step. So, it's a metaphor about fixing something that is fragmented. I hope that helps!
Christian- i love your videos and sense of humor. I am confused, however, about why you said in this video “there is no secrets.” Should it be “there are no secrets?” And in another video you said “there IS a lot of situations.” shouldn’t it be “there are a lot of situations “???
Tense, aspect and mood - Study them before teaching them. There are 9 modal auxiliaries like the Cambridge chart says. "Will" is not a grammaticised feature of temporal information, so many linguists do not consider it to be a marker for "future tense", as it also expresses moods such as volition. "Future tense" is not even consider a pure "tense" in linguistic academia. Don't confuse tense with temporal information.
cristian good Class about modal verb this your student has hair very interesting seems a famus siñger in brazil called wesley safadao when you meet him ask him if he knows wesley safadao
very nice videos, i'm from brazil, i intend to go to australia after completion my undergraduate here that is final of this year. One question, some class did you talk about pronoun (object pronoun, possessive pronoun, possessive adjctive and reflexive pronoun?thank you!!
Respected sir, I like watching your videos but you handwriting making me displeased so I can read what you written on the board please improve handwriting skill. I love learning through your videos. It's so interesting for us. Please don't take to heart . Keep on making videos. Thanks of you we are learning English. Great job. Thanks from me
I think that it's too hard for natives to understand how non-natives see the world. You think you can explain something in the best way but you can't see the subject from our point. The problem of this lesson is a lack of full explanation. The modal verb 'can' also describes general possibilities, not only the abilities or permissions. For example: It can take two hours to get to the home if the traffic is bad. This sentence goes with 'can' because it's a general possibility that is true for a lot of people. Example 2: He could be very angry when he finds out. The specific possibility is the cause of usage 'could'. In the Russian language, we have one word to describe either possibilities or abilities.
horrible contact. you guys only glanced at us a few times and only faced each other. you should learn eye contact. hey i just realized i was using should.

thank you teacher . I have a question, that I saw modal verb follow by "have been......" frequently. how does it mean?
When we use a modal verb with present prefect then we are using the modal verb to talk about the past. So modal+have+participle=modal past tense. I hope that helps!
prefect lesson
can you give More example about (might)? please

20:42 they must be home or they must be at home?
Hello, thanks for your videos! one question: the sentences at the end of the video are all corrects? the second way is a better version?
They're all correct, yes. I don't really know how to say if one is 'better' or not, just use what you prefer.
Canguro English well, for example: "I'm sure he bought a new car" and "he must have bought a new car" they both are corrects? or the second sentence is better than the first one? thank you, saludos from Chile
They are both correct and mean the same thing. It's just two different ways to express the same idea!
22:36 "She might have goNE to stay ..." would be right, wouldn't it?
Excellent lesson anyway.
Yes, exactly! Sometimes you have to choose when to correct someone, and when to let it slide...
Thanks you th
what is the difference between might and could???
Thanks!!
+hana Mehammed My pleasure! I hope it helped with your doubts about could and should!

modal verbs 活動詞
Is correct the sentence "She might have gone to..."..? why not "She might has gone to..."? because is a third person
Because we always use the bare infinitive with modal verbs, so 'might' is always with 'have'.

I like watching your videos but you handwriting making me displeased so I can read what you written on the board please improve handwriting skill. I love learning through your videos.
