So many iconic roles: Mrs. Lincoln, Mrs. Gump, M’Lynn (Steele Magnolias), Miranda Hilliard (Mrs. Doubtfire), Norma Rae, Sybil. She’s a national treasure ❤️

Yeah, they didn't mention The Girl With Something Extra. I remember reading Hollywood Husbands and Two Hollywood Executives were trying to "change" the Image of Whitney Valentine Cable. She wanted to be taken seriously as an Actress who was known as a B Movie Actress. Norman Gooseberger told her it was "possible". After all if Sally Field could play Gidget, and Jessica Lange started out in King Kong's Hand anything was possible. She didn't take the advice too comfortable in her safe zone.

her portrayal of Anele in Steel Magnolias affected my life. The character was a role model.

My very favorite Sally Field role was in Places in the Heart (co-starring Danny Glover, btw). If you have never seen it, I would highly recommend you search it out.

...wonderful to hear (again) of how Madeleine Sherwood and Joann Woodward helped guide Sally Field's storied career. Of course, the FLYING NUN was a farce...but, along with GIDGET, proved that Sally could handle the pressures of carrying a show...and a comedy at that...for several successful seasons (each). I remmeber SYBIL well....rates as one of my favorite TV movies (remember them?) ever.

Hey Pete. It's nice to listen to this again. I heard it last year and ran across this today. Glad I got to hear the hotter mix...If you still have the score-discussion video I'd like to hear it.

Murphy's Romance....got James Garner a well-deserved Oscar nomination. I thought the entire movie was so well-made...and terrific secondary players as well.

The music here is a little louder than on the broadcast version. Also, let me know if any of you would like a video where i go thru the score and discuss it.

I would. It’d be good to hear it in the foreground and your thoughts.

My cousin went to summer camp with the real "Shelby" in the movie. Her brother wrote a book made into the movie. She was really a special girl. Next time you watch it think about the real family.
