Read her autobiography By Myself and then Some. So insightful. Her spirit really leaps from the pages Great read! Such a wonderful lady! May she Rest In Peace
Love Lauren Bacall, never saw this and was excited to watch. I enjoyed it immensely. But what does Broadway baby and sings from Chicago have to do with the celebrated diva here Ms,Bacall? No songs from Woman of the Year or other songs or scenes even remotely relatable to her hits? She smiled and seemed to enjoy it but underneath I think she was thinking what the hell is this!? As was I.
Betty Jean PErske went to Julia Richman HS//east side Manhattan with my aunt, Mary Leahey-Marto. Tey used to walk through southern end of Central Park on way home. She's often take the 9th Avenue bus home to Greenwich Village.
Love all the performances, but very confused by the song choices? Most of these songs have nothing to do with Lauren's career?? Or it's a very a tangential relationship to say the least. Broadway Baby? Why? Because she was on broadway? Razzle Dazzle? Because she won her Tony for a Kander & Ebb musical?
@@melloe6831 In 1997, the following people she worked with were still alive: June Allyson, Claire Trevor, Arlene Dahl, Sean Connery, Michael York, Robert Stack, Tony Curtis, Paul Newman, Robert Wagner, Albert Finney, Jacqueline Bisset, Richard Widmark, Vanessa Redgrave, James Caan, and on and on.
They all were good friends her Sinatra and bogart before bogarts passing frank actually didn’t hang around much while bogart was sick with the cancer it wasn’t until after bogart died that they started dating
Bacall wasn't a huge star. Certainly not on the level that other honorees like Hellman, Taylor, Mary Martin, Lansbury, and of course Davis. She was a pretty face who marred a legend. When they only sing one song from one of YOUR shows or movies... that's your clue.
BamaFan1962: Well, I guess you don’t like her. The Kennedy Center never awarded Ethel Merman, and that’s a STAR! And you know what you can do? You can whistle. You know how to do that, don’t you? GO BLOW!!
Where were the songs from woman of the year? Broadway baby? I don't know what that Segway in the middle was all about between welcome to the theater and applause but whatever
Betty Perske from the Bronx is the epitome of a legend. She personified elegance, grace and grit. One of a kind. She deserves many salutes indeed.
Charm, intelligence, and interesting. Beautiful and talented.
So great seeing Christine Baranski sing so much! I saw a shorter version of this. Thank you!
So pleased to discover this clip.
She is one of my heroes.
She had a self possession that set her apart. Pure class. She remained true to herself in good times and in rough times.
and she really loved to criticise her colleagues for things that were none of her business..
I had the opportunity to see her in London in the musical APPLAUSE playing Margo Channing,
Fortunate.
The only woman who ever tamed Bogie this woman is and was and will always be a true Diva

Remarkable woman. They don't make them like Bacall anymore.
Sheesh I just came across this and can't believe how Ann Reinkin moves compared to Christine and Bebe, it's so totally differentiated
1986...New York what a fabolous Lady....she was so gentle with a young boy in USA

Betty
lauren Bacall is one of those that passed
None of the people here have anything to do with Bacall's career. None of them have ever worked with her. Strange.
Probably because almost everyone that ever worked with her is dead

Leonard's mom ?!
Would it have KILLED the ACADEMY to GIVE her the OSCAR fox The Mirror has Two Faces! She DESERVED it! They’re just so JEALOUS of Streisand!
for.
No tmuch about her movies. Also she md. again to Robards.
She had a long time affair with frank Sinatra. It started when her husband was dying with lung cancer. That did it for me.

Well ..... sometimes the measure of a star is not the appearance , rather it is the effort .
The brief cub historically advise because ankle strikingly analyse over a assorted humor. deranged, dysfunctional balinese
Baranski was awful . Ruff ruff
She was good. Baranski has performed for a lot of Kennedy Center tributes and has done good for all of them.
She was not Lauren Bacall but she was wonderful
