Ricordo quasi 20 anni fa quando dicevano che il nascente Michael Romeo suonava come se Malmsteen avesse continuato a studiare... E' una diatriba che va avanti da sempre...E' vero, fa "sempre le stesse cose" ed ultimamente e' anche un po sporco...ma anche con una band inesistente come quella che si sta portando in tour spacca i culi e tiene il palco come pochi altri. Io all' Alcatraz c'ero ed ho goduto come un riccio come quando lo vidi nel 1995 al Rainbow di Milano , serata in cui mi sono portato a casa un suo plettro che ancora tengo incorniciato... Viva Malmsteen , viva i grandi delle sei corde ! More is more.

Anni fa, ad un concerto di una band che non mi piaceva particolarmente, io ed un mio amico che assistevamo ebbimo una discussione sul semplice fatto che io criticai un po' ironicamente il chitarrista, beh il mio amico mi disse "ok lo so, suoni anche tu la chitarra.. ma chi stai criticando è là sopra su un palco con parecchia gente che sta vedendo e ascoltando, e apprezzando... sali tu su un palco con tutta questa gente ad ascoltarti e vediamo come te la cavi..." ovvio che i social non erano nemmeno un'ipotesi 👋
Para o nível que o Malmsteen sempre apresentou até início dos anos 2000, pagar para ver isso é um absurdo. O cara não tá nem aí, toca de qualquer jeito. Se é para tocar desta maneira melhor aposentar .. só acerta nos bends.

Dude, the man rips his heart out...and he is a crowd pleaser, he can't do this and be clean at the same time, dude plays 100 notes per seconds, (its an image), enjoy while you can how good he is. And all this on a fender without a noise gate or humbuckers...
Let's be honest here. This isn't great. The man is a legend, but it's just lazy, sloppy and massively uninspired. Actually really sad to see. And don't start me on the band stuck in the corner.
Sadly I agree. This is the culmination of a career punctuated by doing the same thing over and over and being surrounded by sycophants to the point that you believe your own hype. Yngwie's playing is uninspired because he chooses to surround himself with musicians that are capable, but do not challenge him or push him musically whatsoever. He is locked into 1985 and likes it that way.
It's true that this performance was subpar for Yngwie, at least the content that's in this video. It all depends on the night, or even which part of a given show. I've seen him maybe 24-25 times; I saw him maybe four times fairly recently. On all those recent occasions, he played much better than this. I noticed him getting out of time here and there a bit during one or two of those shows, but nowhere near as bad as this performance. I think it's the way he improvises all the time, he constantly changes things, so sometimes it gets a bit sloppy. But when he's "on", everything is right there. He's still "got it", but perhaps needs to be a little more careful about timing, in particular. The massive volumes don't help much either, it's very hard to hear. I don't think it would take too much, but he ought to reevaluate & sharpen a few things, at this age. I do not want him to change his style and start playing all different. He's a rock version of a classical composer - did Bach ever change his style? Mozart? They all kept employing the same phrases in all their compositions, and just continued to find different ingenious ways to employ the same devices.
@@FretsOnFire I agree with pretty much everything you said here. There's no question Yngwie has his good nights and bad now, though this particular video is from a low period imo. There's also no question he's still 'got it'. I I also agree wholeheartedly about the volume. He could turn down 25%, still be incredibly loud, and give his notes a little more definition and clarity for the audience to enjoy. I also wouldn't want him to suddenly radically change his style (although I think he could edge into other genres and the result would probably be very interesting). I would like to see a change in where the band is in relation to him though. It's off putting and weirdly self-glorifying to push everyone off to one side and claim 90% of the stage for yourself to grandstand all night. I'm aware it's his show and his production, but the audience does enjoy seeing musicianship between members and being entertained with a full picture of where the music is coming from.

Solo 2 giorni prima ha fatto una performance che rasenta la perfezione. Che sia l’alkatraz il problema? Io ci ho visto i winery dogs e l’acustica era terrificante.
Ormai è da un po'di anni che suona in modo sciatto, sporco, impreciso, con sta'band di scappati di casa. E sempre il solito repertorio che ha frantumato gli zebedei (ma con tutti i bei pezzi che ha fatto perché si ostina a suonare sempre gli stessi? Ecchepalle!). Sinceramente non andrei a vederlo neanche gratis, mi mette solo rabbia e tristezza per quello che è diventato.

E' indubbiamente bravo ma è ripetitivo e fa anche tanta scena per chitarristi 15enni. Mi spiegate a che servono 22 testare Marshall e 10 diffusori? Vai, Satriani, Petrucci ecc. suonano, e anche molto bene, con meno testate e meno diffusori.
Stavo per comprare il biglietto, ma ho preferito ricordarmelo quando lo vidi li 15 anni fa e mi regalò il plettro. Sono un suo grande fan ma non si può organizzare un tour dove ce lui che fa assoli continuamente e la band sta' li solo per non dire che usa le basi registrate. Poi senza un vocalist serio ! In un'intervista aveva dichiarato che il cantante era inutile, canta meglio lui, quando ho letto cosi non ho preso i biglietti!

Even his string gauges varied, the depths of scallops on the fretboards, higher frets, modified Marshalls etc. His playing I'm sure is the same. It's ALL THE GEAR THAT'S DIFFERENT.
I think it's the quality of the phone used to record this video, nothing more. I'm sure if you were actually there live, you'd all have a different opinion.

The guitar can’t be out of tune for the silly obvious reason techs set it up for him (to his own likings) but Yngwie is now 60, so the scallopping he asked for when he was 20, to enhance a classical vibrato on a fretted maple fingerboard, is now sabotageing him a bit… because when he sticks to a firm position and shreds, everything’s fine, when he moves side by side onstage he just loses control on the fretting hand, causing sort of an unwanted “vibrato” where just ain’t supposed to be On a more conventionally radiused stratocaster, I guess he would shred like crazy

This man is the meaning of" too much is too much", his narcissistics skills tend to kill every guitarist performance wich should have sounded good surely leading it into a chaotic circus. His guitar playing seems to me sounds not clear, too accelerated, cacophonous sometimes and not fine at the hearing, so spoilering the whole show, himself focused basically...It's a pity.

E' indubbiamente bravo ma è ripetitivo e fa anche tanta scena per chitarristi 15enni. Mi spiegate a che servono 22 testare Marshall e 10 diffusori? Vai, Satriani, Petrucci ecc. suonano, e anche molto bene, con meno testate e meno diffusori.

Stavo per comprare il biglietto, ma ho preferito ricordarmelo quando lo vidi li 15 anni fa e mi regalò il plettro. Sono un suo grande fan ma non si può organizzare un tour dove ce lui che fa assoli continuamente e la band sta' li solo per non dire che usa le basi registrate. Poi senza un vocalist serio ! In un'intervista aveva dichiarato che il cantante era inutile, canta meglio lui, quando ho letto cosi non ho preso i biglietti!
Hai fatto più che bene. Pagare per assistere ad uno sfacelo del genere, ma per favore...

I think all the over customized things and Yngwie products he's playing with now are nothing like what he originally used in the very early days which gave him his unique CLEAN sound. Even his string gauges varied, the depths of scallops on the fretboards, higher frets, modified Marshalls etc. His playing I'm sure is the same. It's ALL THE GEAR THAT'S DIFFERENT.

How can one of the best guitar virtuosos in the world sound so out of tune and not be in rhythm to this extent? He should play alone. The yngwie of the 80s or the guitar concerto is gone.

@@asdfasdf12456 It's my viewpoint and opinion. You deal with it. I think his playing is better than ever at times. It's his original earlier tone(s) that made him is lacking. Being older means nothing, and should be greater. He's 60 not 90.
The guitar can’t be out of tune for the silly obvious reason techs set it up for him (to his own likings) but Yngwie is now 60, so the scallopping he asked for when he was 20, to enhance a classical vibrato on a fretted maple fingerboard, is now sabotageing him a bit… because when he sticks to a firm position and shreds, everything’s fine, when he moves side by side onstage he just loses control on the fretting hand, causing sort of an unwanted “vibrato” where just ain’t supposed to be
On a more conventionally radiused stratocaster, I guess he would shred like crazy

Önskade att Malmsten kunde variera sina solon. Jeff Lommis kan varierar sina solon, Malmsten har kört fast i sina ,alla låter lika dant, Så han behöver variera, Men sin hel het är det inget fel Malmsten,,, spelar mycket bra, lite mer variation skulle det få mitt betyg

This man is the meaning of" too much is too much", his narcissistics skills tend to kill every guitarist performance wich should have sounded good surely leading it into a chaotic circus.
His guitar playing seems to me sounds not clear, too accelerated, cacophonous sometimes and not fine at the hearing, so spoilering the whole show, himself focused basically...It's a pity.
