I feel like the Bandit's lack of scope gets way too much flak. Personally, I really like the gun, it feels great, plays great, and looks great. It feels a lot like Reach's DMR, especially since I didn't really scope much either back then. One thing to remember is that Infinite's sandbox (unfortunately) isn't as big as previous games', so I kinda get why they removed the scope to keep the Bandit more in the mid range side and not get in the way of the BR and the Stalker. The thing about the Halo 5 DMR that you probably find so odd is the height of the optic over the buttstock in the cheek rest area. The lack of a stock drop at the cheek or a higher placement of the optic like on the Halo Reach DMR means that it would be very difficult to actually get your eye behind the scope while getting a proper cheek rest weld as part of a stable shooting position. It looks bad because you instinctively know that it just doesn’t work.
The only explanation would be that it was designed for Spartans in mind, but that doesn't make sense because normal Marines are far more abundant and to design a weapon for one sole group would leave the bigger, generalized group disadvantaged while using the weapon.
@@silentkhaos1176I rember hearing on a video of either hidden Experia or Instaltion00 that the UNSC shrunk in size after the human covenant war which could explain the further use of spartan designed weapons.

The Reach DMR will always be my favorite version of the weapon. So I'm glad that Infinite brought back the old design. The Halo 4 and, to a lesser extent, Halo 5 DMR were great, but the original design and feel will always be my favorite, especially the fire sound when you pull the trigger. And while the DMR may not be the most widely loved Halo weapon, but it's one that we love a lot. And it'll always be a favorite weapon of mine. So it's great to see you cover this iconic, if underappreciated compared to the BR, weapon in Halo's sandbox.
what i like is that they brought back "Reach DMR" but not an exact copy- the original was produced on Reach and says as much being produced by an arsenal located on Reach, while the new DMR that is the same model is produced under license by a civilian company. the UNSC would have no reason to go back to an "old" design, but civilian companies often do. We will of course never see "REACH DMR" rifles since the manufacturing base on REACH was destroyed which explains why the rifles don't appear in HALO, HALO 2, and HALO 3.
I know it wasn't technically in the video, but I think visually, my favorite version of the DMR was the Halo reach beta's one. Something about the green ammo counter clicks with me. I love it! Also I just have to say, the production quality was top fucking notch here man. Good stuff!
The experience Bungie had with Reach's DMR paved the tempo abd baseline of Destiny's arsenal, which seems like the baseline weapons in Destiny are variants of DMR's. Even automatic weapons in Destiny feel like automatic DMR's.
In defense of Halo 5's DMR design, the really flattened top makes a lot of sense. An important factor for making rifles more accurate and consistent is height over bore. The closer in height the scope is to barrel, the easier it is to make accurate shots across varied distances.

Excellent video, I loved everything from the info, video quality, and narration. As a long time Halo fan you took me down memory lane and im sure for those newer they found this informative. I hope that you do more videos like this and maybe with other weapons within the Halo sandbox
The sevine arms branding on the bandit makes me think that it’s supposed to be a copy of the DMR produced by another company, possibly to reduce the strain put on misriah to produce weapons for the fledgling UNSC because misriah armories probably doesn’t access to the same facilities after the awoken blacked-out the galaxy
The version I love the most will always be the one from the Reach era. I didn't really start getting into the more online competitive side of Halo until near the end of Halo 3/start of Halo Reach. One of my most favorite game modes to play was, and still is to this day, SWAT. Popping heads with the DMR became second nature to me many of nights thanks to Halo Reach's SWAT mode. I love the bit of varied attachments we got via Halo 5's REQ system, but the Reach version of the DMR will always hold a special place in my heart.
Ending skit reminds me of the old-school "Half Life 1/2 but every sound effect is my voice" mods. The tonal whiplash between "serious documentary" and "just a dude that's having fun" is what the internet was made for and i am all for it.
I know it wasn't mentioned, but the glitched halo 5 DMR when you're mixing forge weapons that gave it no scope like the bandit rifle was one of my favorites.
You did not say lovingly created about Halo Reach. That game was made with spite. Microsoft told Bungie even though their contract only last for 4 games that they had to make another game and deemed that ODST was not a standalone game.
Im really happy you included the Destiny-MR. If you go through with making remakes of some of your other weapon evolution videos, you should totally include the Destiny versions for each one as well. P.S. Another thing about Dead Mans Revenge (DMR) is that i feel like the name might be refering to Noble 6. Like the DMR is being used to avenge 6 and Noble team, eh by being used to kill aliens and doesnt afraid of anything.
Funny thing even as someone who only played the pc port of the first Halo even I caught the DMR reference with the Dead Man's Revenge skin. Guess that speaks for how iconic the DMR is even outside Halo. Also in general nice to see ya still keep making nods to Destiny in these videos ^^
the DMR has a special place in my heart. I started playing halo about a year ago on the pc version of the mcc. Halo has been around for a while, so there's a pretty steep learning curve when you're getting killed every 5 seconds by people who have been playing for almost as long as you've been alive. It was honestly kind of discouraging. I googled "how to get better at halo", and some advice a lot of people had was to play SWAT mode, because it forced you to not rely on the motion tracker, have good reflexes, and get accurate headshots. I took that advice, and I've gotten pretty decent with the DMR. I wouldn't call myself good at halo yet, but when I play SWAT with my buddies who have more years logged on the game than I have months, I'm able to hold my own. I'm proud of that, and it's the DMR that gave me a rosd to follow when I was close to giving up on multiplayer edited for spelling
Yo lng, you should totally do an evolution of the master chief's armor or spartan armor customization in the future, that would be sick to see. Love your vids man!
I'm super glad to see my favorite weapon in Halo get the spotlight and deep dive that the evolution series always brings, now better than ever. Great work!
The DMR was immediately one of my favorite weapons upon introduction. Not as punchy or far reaching as a sniper rifle, but faster to follow up with if you whiffed your first shot than the SR. And I still heavily prefer that type of weapon in pretty much every game I play. It provide effective, accurate, and hard hitting medium to long range firepower, and pairs really well with a rapid fire weapon for shorter range engagements, such as an SMG or shotgun.
Props for the opening seconds. People often edit their audio commentary over unrelated video footage starting the video and their audio at the same time making your brain instantly connect the two. Seems like you deliberately split them a bit👌🏻
The DMR is my favorite weapon. So much that it's my Spartan Oc's main weapon. I love the look of Halo 4's sniper, mainly cause of the scope and green display making it stand out from the other rifles in an interesting way.
As bad as Halo 5 was they should have definitely taken a crack at it with all the battle rifle variants they definitely could have made 2 versions of the classic battle rifle
the DMR is by far my favorite. my favorite halo game is reach and i get a surge of excitement whenever i know i am about to use a DMR, the DMR is great in pve you can spam fire it and one shot jackels and grunts if you get a headshot. its effective with hipfire and scoped which makes it quite nice for all engagements. i generally prefer the DMR to a sniper since its ammo does not feel like some mythological masterpiece that you expend on each shot. i only play the halo campaigns
I'm making a halo animation, and the main character in the animation uses a DMR, but slightly different. It uses the halo infinite variant (black color, because olive drab doesn't suit the DMR) but with the halo 5 sentinel scope. Highest resolution while having a very similar frame to the original. Just picture it in your head, and you'll see: It looks pretty damn good.
This weapon dropped in reach and has pretty much been my favorite human halo weapon since. It's second only to the tried and true goat weapon that's gotten me through many legendary runs of the franchise, the plasma pistol. Hell, they even work together amazingly.
personally i think Reach's DMR will always feel just right in my hands. H4's DMR also feels just as good, so i'd place that second. H5 and Infinite's DMR i never really got a good feel for so im not sure what i would rate them
Halo Infinite's just doesn't have as good of a feel. Reach's and 4's DMR felt powerful and impactful. Halo 5's I don't know about Halo 5 because by the time I can actually equip it, the round is over or on the last wave of the firefight. Infinite's... just doesn't feel good. Even the EVO version with a scope. And the thing is, 4's DMR felt like it did something even though my local splitscreen matches have like 300% damage resistance.
@@watermelongaming3698the halo 4 dmr was the peak dmr imo. I don’t know why they keep on using old designs that aren’t even redesigns 😂. Also the bandit can’t really be called a “dmr” in the first place since it doesn’t even have a scope yet
Another major difference with the Bandit rifle is that it does less damage than previous iterations of the DMR taking 3 shots & a beatdown to kill and 7 body shots instead of 6 like in previous games.
I love the look and feel of the Bandit in Infinite. In Ranked and Comp it doesn’t really need a scope since 4v4 maps don’t really have engagements that far. I do think the game is severely lacking in a long range starter rifle and the insane power of the BR isn’t helping it. We need a 3x scoped DMR again for BTB modes. Then nerf the BR’s bullet velocity just enough so it can’t beat the DMR at long range but it wouldn’t be noticeable in medium range.
I just gotta keep the love for the OG DMR. I know that no one really likes the bloom in reach, but it was my introduction to the series actually, and I loves reach, in fact it's still my favorite halo
When I was checking out my weapons in infinite i noticed on the bandit model section you can open it. Keep in mind you cannot do that for weapons that do not have a model selection like the S7 sniper or SPNKr which means we could get a scope for our DMR like stated in the video. Who knows
Nothing beats the old faithful dmr in reach, say what you will about the competitive scene then but Reach was one of the last fun shooter games at least for me, I'm letting nostalgia cloud my judgement but i'm not ashamed of the fun times I had back when I first got into online gaming
Honestly, a legendary variant for the Bandit that has a scope, with descope, and a tinge less recoil would make for a killer addition to the Super Fiesta sandbox, and would give the DMR its rightful place back
i cant play infinite due to my pc specs, but the model of the infinite dmr brought me so much nostalgia, the reload too, so much passion put into it. i always loved the AR more, the designs from halo 3 having a soft spot for me, but the DMR is such a lovable weapon, yet i do hsve contempt for its performance in halo reach on the MCC
Can you make a video dispelling the myth that "343 was made up of a bunch of ex Bungie Devs"? I keep seeing this circulating, yet judging by the credits of Halo Reach -> Halo 4, only Frank O Connor and a few key not-Bungie Microsoft Game Studios folks (Josh Holmes, Chris Lee, Greg Harmon, etc) were inherited.
Halo 4 hands down favorite iteration. Headshots during swat in H4 were so goddamn crunchy ive yet to have it replicated. It also seemed to.. "point?".. better in H4 for me too, idk why.
This Weapon and the Spartan 3 Armor Core represent a time when our beloved super soldiers were using equipment more reminiscent of mankind fighting each other.
When Halo: Reach came out, I was never huge on the DMR. It just looked like a not-Battle Rifle and the removal of the three-shot burst took away what was special. This is why I love what Halo 4 did with it. While 4 is one of my least favorite titles, its take on the weapon was great, looking far more unique and feeling just different enough for me to want to switch between one or the other. Teenager me was surprised by how different they feel. Infinite definitely has the best name for it though. I have a disdain for meaningless acronyms, but "the Bandit Rifle" has so much more personality. It's a little ironic, because Infinite would tend to lean more towards militaristic acronyms while the Bungie would tend to have names with more personality... Except for this one gun.
The voice acting work at the end brought me to tears. Such emotion I would have never expected to feel for an inanimate object. Bravo.
I read the comment before getting to the end and I actually expected something else 😂

Good news, a gif of early access to season 5 actually has the Bandit with the scope!
It would be cool if they took a shot at the original Halo 2 demo battle rifle that was single shot when zoomed and burst regular 🤔
The editing on this video is absolutely top-notch. Amazing job, LNG!
Love the video as always! The new editing is great. It feels cool and new without overdoing it! Hope you’re having a good year so far
Do the evolution of the Fuel Rod Gun or the Carbine next plsssss!
I love u as a content creator so much that I didn't even skip the commercial ;D great video as always (Reach DMR is the best I think)
Back in 2010, the competitive circuit was ran by MLG. HCS was not in existence yet.
I’m glad to see that you’re back man. Keep up the good work.
The return of the King
DMR squad lets go
I just gotta keep the love for the OG DMR. I know that no one really likes the bloom in reach, but it was my introduction to the series actually, and I loves reach, in fact it's still my favorite halo
Im so glad to be watching these again. these videos and just your videos in general makes me feel really relaxed thanks.
The Destiny segment discussing Scout Rifles & Dead Man's Tale was the biggest jumpscare I've experienced. A very welcomed one, though.
thank you for giving my favorite video game weapon the attention it deserves
Wake up babe late night gaming posted
LETS GOOOOOO!!! new late night gaming video!!! i'm so glad i didn't die in my sleep last night!!!
Reach and Infinite
Reach I grew up with the most
When I was checking out my weapons in infinite i noticed on the bandit model section you can open it. Keep in mind you cannot do that for weapons that do not have a model selection like the S7 sniper or SPNKr which means we could get a scope for our DMR like stated in the video. Who knows
Nothing beats the old faithful dmr in reach, say what you will about the competitive scene then but
Reach was one of the last fun shooter games at least for me, I'm letting nostalgia cloud my judgement but i'm not ashamed of the fun times I had back when I first got into online gaming
too much bloom. Reach has the worst MP of them all by far because of that
Honestly, a legendary variant for the Bandit that has a scope, with descope, and a tinge less recoil would make for a killer addition to the Super Fiesta sandbox, and would give the DMR its rightful place back
Wait why did this get removed and re-uploaded? What got changed?
error fixed
The DMR is my favorite weapon from halo ever. so glad this was made
My favorite gun. Always has been.
I WAS WONDERING WHY THE HALO 5 DMR LOOKED SO WEIRD
The lack of ammo counter made it feel so short.
i cant play infinite due to my pc specs, but the model of the infinite dmr brought me so much nostalgia, the reload too, so much passion put into it.
i always loved the AR more, the designs from halo 3 having a soft spot for me, but the DMR is such a lovable weapon, yet i do hsve contempt for its performance in halo reach on the MCC
Can you make a video dispelling the myth that "343 was made up of a bunch of ex Bungie Devs"?
I keep seeing this circulating, yet judging by the credits of Halo Reach -> Halo 4,
only Frank O Connor and a few key not-Bungie Microsoft Game Studios folks (Josh Holmes, Chris Lee, Greg Harmon, etc) were inherited.
Halo 4 hands down favorite iteration. Headshots during swat in H4 were so goddamn crunchy ive yet to have it replicated. It also seemed to.. "point?".. better in H4 for me too, idk why.
i think it actually sounded kinda nice imo much better than infinite
Man... Six minutes into the video and i am loving the editing.
This Weapon and the Spartan 3 Armor Core represent a time when our beloved super soldiers were using equipment more reminiscent of mankind fighting each other.
"The competitive ring shrank."
I see this as nothing but a positive. Ranked and competitive brings down every game.
Bungie's Halo supported both casual and competitive. Why should we just want competitive gone? Why not support both?
That was peak DMR impression. If I didn't know any better I'd say you were just shooting the real thing lol
This gun in real life could be perfect aswell like the m90 shotgun
Brilliantly said king!
@@STRONTIumMuffin you're alive! You've been ever dearly missed.
The Battle Rifle in the form it took in the Halo 2 E3 presentation sorta reminds me of the DMR as well.
M392 Bandit in Infinite is awesome!
