Apparently, Pertwee was told to simply play himself. He said was a great help to him, because he was mostly known for putting on a lot of silly personas (similar to his disguise as a cleaning lady in this vid). He was having time pinning himself to who he actually was, and Doctor Who was a great help in that.
I was a bad Whovian for a long time - the sort who wouldn't accept that anything before 2005 actually happened. Then Tom Baker showed up in the 50th anniversary special, and I couldn't really do that anymore. But when I did start to look back at the classics, for some reason, I went straight to Jon. And it was like I was experiencing failing in love with Doctor Who all over again! Even though he died before I was born, I feel like he was my first Doctor in a way. He's just magic and I absolutely adore him. 💖
That's lovely. Yeah, going back and watching classic who for the first time really is like getting to watch a whole new show. And the third doctor grabbed me straight away too. Such an iconic version :)
Same. I started with the original series and he just grabbed me instantly. He had all the best gadgets, and his frenemy vibe with the Brigadier was FANTASTIC.
I was the same, like we had a fridge magnet with Tom Baker as the Doctor and I said to myself "that's not Doctor Who" then I watched a VHS tape of the Three Doctors and that was it for me
Jon was my first Doctor. I watched half of the first episode of Spearhead from Space before my mother turned it off because it was "too scary". Then a few years later I found the repeat of Sea Devils and I was hooked completely. When eventually I started collecting the DVDs, I was surprised to find that the third Doctor portrayed so many of the beliefs and attitudes I've tried to personally follow and uphold without remembering where I'd first seen them.
The real question is Which Doctor was the one who originally have that adventure between 1 and 2? My money's on one because considering all the stuff three and two say it just seems like the first doctor did a lot of stuff
The 3rd doctor is truly one of my top favorite doctors ever. I like to consider him the “earth” doctor since most of his tenure had him on earth and seemed very close to it despite his constant attempts to escape it
Unpopular opinion: The Ninth Doctor (Christopher Eccleston) is my favourite modern Doctor. The Third Doctor (Jon Pertwee) is my favourite classic Doctor. On my list of all Doctors, both share the #1 spot!
I've always said my faves are 3, 5, and 9. Eccleston shocked me as an original Who fan. I had no idea if I'd like the new series when it came out, but he won me over completely.
They’re actually both quite similar, they both wear mostly black with occasional splashes of colour, quite sarcastic, not afraid to get physical, bitter over recent trouble with Time Lords (exiled to Earth/Time War) and they both dislike and constantly clash with authority figures despite often being seen as one themselves.
he might feel it disrespectful to his father to have someone else even himself take up the role or just find it too uncomfortable, it's a rather complicated matter dealing with dead family
So good. One of the two best actor's to play the Doctor (Tom Baker being the second, but equally first) Jon was an expert in Venusian akido and Cape wearing. I had the pleasure of meeting Jo Grant aka Katy Manning and she is such a beautiful and nice lady.
A few scenes that would have been perfect to add to this awesome compilation: 1) In addition to eathibg the sandwich in that fencing scene with The Master (absolutely hysterical), at the end, The Doctor gives a yell and "karate kicks" the weapon form The Master's and says "How many times have I told you! You'll NEVER solve anything with violence!" 2) In The Three Doctors, when Omega conjures up in The Doctor's mind a metallic looking Creature from the Black Lagoon and The Doctor has a "Judo/wrestling" match with it. 3) In The Carnival of Monsters, he has a bixing contest with a British Navel officer played by Ian Marter, who would go on to portray Harry Sullivan, one of The Fourth Doctor's companions and later became involved with the writing of novelisations of Doctor Who TV serials for Target Books, penning nine such adaptations in the late 1970s and early 1980s. I loved that this incarnation of The Doctor was willing to engage in physical confrontations, but still only when necessary. He would voice his disdain for violence but would acknowledge that physical action was sometimes necessary.
Heck even the 1st Doctor was willing to put up a physical fight to defend himself if he had to. I don't mind the Doctor's pacifism when it comes to not using guns and not resorting to lethal methods but I wouldn't mind if every incarnation or two we had a Doctor who could physically defend themselves with Venusian Akido like the 3rd Doctor did.

13 is a hit or miss. If you're a stickler for writing and characterization, you might not enjoy her run. Especially if you love 12 - they just don't compare. BUT if you're lax about those things, her first two seasons follow the same episodic rubric as the rest of nuWho. Her third season pulls an oldWho and has a six-parter, though it's got pretty mixed reviews. 14 and 15 (as of April 2024) are on Disney+. 15 reminds me of 2 - chipper, funny, inquisitive, caring, serious when he needs to be. If that's your thing, I recommend checking the D+ specials out!

Best Doctor!
Is it Karate or Akido? Pertwee was the James Bond of Doctors, Baker was the most believable as an alien among us. Pertwee, however, is still my 2nd favorite doctor. He was also great in that role.
It's some space martial ait's.
Created by created by creatures with multiple arms. And that's why the Doctor is so impressive with it.Because he's basically doing it handicapped by their standards
Is venusian aikido I believe
But this is just the universe law.I don't know nothing about choreographically or martial arts to know if The actor is performing some real life martial arts
best incarnation along with tom baker and i quite liked 7th doctor sorry to say lol
My favorite Doctors in order 12, 3, 4, 8, 9, 7, 2, 11, 1, 10, 5, 6.......... Sorry, never seen 13 lol!!! Also not a fan of War Doctor and apparently there's a Fugitive Doctor meh.
You should be a fan of the word doctor he is peak
Man literally only had one episode yet stole the show
13 is a hit or miss.
