    ◆self-introduction
We were just an ordinary Japanese married couple, both working, until my wife suddenly chose to move overseas.
After thinking deeply, I reached a conclusion to leave the company I worked for 12 years, and started my new life as a stay-at-home dad in 2021.
At first, I had rough time with stress and felt conflicted, but now I enjoy my life in Malaysia, taking the household chores over from my wife.
As I changed my lifestyle I changed my hairstyle to Samurai(Man Bun).
I named this channel "Samurai -----" as some people call me "samurai!" since I came to Malaysia.
In this channel, I will be introducing:
    1. My daily life and things I noticed as stay-home-dad
    2. My Malaysian life
    3. Changes we experience upon moving overseas
    Hope you enjoy!

Few years ago, my university had exchange program with Japanese students, so they went to Sarawak to experience the culture, education and food. I noticed that even the Malaysian food are spicy or not suitable with their taste, the Japanese students always finished the food and did not leave any leftover. When I watch you really enjoy the nasi dagang, I suddenly thought of my Japanese friends😊😂

Its compacted rice wrapped in banana leaf and shaped like a Cornetto ice cream. compacted with the rice is omellette, choice of cooked in coconut milk n at the tail end is the best part chicken flakes or fish flakes.

@@SamuraiStayAtHomeDad Yes, acar usually served fresh (newly made) which the veges still crisp. My mom always made carrot/cucumber with mustard seed in turmeric vinegar brine, to pair with nasi dagang. But there are varieties of acar in Malaysia. Nasi Dagang is native to Kelantan and Terengganu, it's not Terengganu signature dish. it's look similar but can be differentiated. Basically Kelantan's is served with gulai kuning ikan tongkol , Gulai Udang, Gulai Itik Serati and ayam, like this gentleman eat.Kelantan Nasi Dagang has their own rice, and it's quite challenging to cook. Terengganu rice is quite easy to cook and become the popular one.

Ideally a foreigner shall be introduced to newbie level food with milder taste but some locals tend to ask you to get the more 'exotic' & 'authentic' version with stronger taste. There are Malaysian asking westerners to try tempoyak wth, it's like asking an unfit person who hasn't run for 10 years to run a full marathon.

Nasi dagang is a dish that is well known in the east coast states of Terengganu and Kelantan. However they slightly differ from each other in terms of how it is prepared and served. I am from Terengganu, and traditionally, nasi dagang is always served with gulai ikan tongkol (or ikan ayer in local east coast dialect) which is tuna fish curry. I enjoy mine without the acar, but that is personal preference.. oh, please do try to eat local rice dishes with your hands.. more exciting experience when you feel the food with your own hands. Nasi Dagang is from Terengganu.
    Nasi Kerabu is from Kelantan.
    Nasi Kandar is from Penang.
    Nasi Lemak is everywhere.
There are more.. Nasi Ulam, Nasi Lemuni, Nasi Beriyani, Nasi Arab, Nasi Tomato, Nasi Goreng. But don’t be mistaken that Nasi Goreng USA is from America. It is actually Nasi Goreng Udang Sotong Ayam combined (USA).

Seriously, Japanese vlogers in Malaysia should create new topic rather than just showing food, you know, like you guys need to be friends with Malays, so you could create new ideas, like comparison between Chainsaw Man and Mechamato, you do know right that Mechamato wins award in Toukyou Arts and Culture festival? Also some of my japanese Musuko friends did know about Ultraman Ribut, what I did search on internet that, Japanese develop Ultraman Ribut into the Ultraman series in Japan. There are lot of things, try something new and I know you could do, cuz I'm bored watching "Japanese eating Ramly Burger" "Japanese goes to local restaurant' and such, try collabs with Malaysian friendly UA-camr like what Nobu chan did. Try something new

    Acar recipe
    Ingredients:
    - 1/2 pineapple
    - 2-3 cucumbers, depending on the size
    - 2 large onions
    - 2 red chilies
    - 8 tablespoons of vinegar
    - 4 tablespoons of sugar
    - a little bit of salt
    Preparation method:
    1. Clean the pineapple and remove the skin, then slice thinly.
    2. Clean the cucumber, remove the skin and claw the outside of the cucumber 3. use a fork in a longitudinal line. Slice thinly
    3. Thinly slice red onion and red chili.
    4. Mix all ingredients together with vinegar, sugar and a little salt until smooth. Ready to serve.
Note: Do not add water in the pickle because slowly the water from the pineapple and cucumber will come out on its own after mixing with vinegar and other ingredients.

Although its not wrong, i note you always smell directly from the plate when served. try taking a spoonful then smell the food. for business owner, when someone smells like that, it gives the impression that something funky about the food or that the food is unpalatable! LOL. Please note again, as a foreigner its not wrong for you, just that it's a Malaysian "thing" and might give business owner wrong impression! 🙃 Incidentally, your ordering of teh tarik starts to grow on me LOL. Try other variety like "chaam tarik" or "neslo tarik" (all kurang manis of course)! you might like it 😁

Thank you so much for your kind explanation. It's really helpful to know how my behaviors might be perceived by people in Malaysia, as it's not always clear to me. Also, I appreciate your specific recommendations like "chaam tarik" and "neslo tarik"!! I've taken notes right away and will definitely give them a try👍
