PSA: I bought the physical copy but didn't have the bravery to play a game with a group, not knowing if they would stick with this legacy game (also, this is my first game of its kind.) I did, however, realize that Table Top Simulator has the game on there for free as a mod. I've been playing the game on TTS since and am loving it so far! I think it's a blast and having a good group really helps. We role play the crap out of it! Will definitely finish
This seems really intriguing - I wonder if I can find a group to play with...hmm This is a great approach to a legacy game: where the unfolding story is the priority.
You said you've had people switch in and out - does it stay balanced for dropping out/adding in? Or do you always need to aim for the same player count?
it's been 2 years and I hope you still need to know this. yes you should aim for the same people, but you don't need the same people, this game takes place over 15-20 game sessions and each session can take an hour and a half meaning it might take your group 6 months to complete the campaign. each time you play the game essentially you are a new person, your goals for your house are the same over the campaign but your actual person controlling your house is different from session to session, so if I played the house of blah one game and didn't like the game, someone else can take over my house and not affect the game at all. also if a house drops out, someone else who has never played before can pick a new house and jump in mid campaign, I don't know how this works but I can tell you that the game isn't won with prestige, the last session introduces a new point system that determines who wins, you don't know how to win until you finish the game.
@@pavv7741 hey, thanks for the info! I still haven't picked this up but this at least let's me know the possibilities. And thank you UA-cam notification system for bringing me back here!
Thats exactly was I am thinking. And if I wouldnt prefer playing this game in my motherlanguage (german), I think I would play it on tabletopsimulator (steam) because Im really interessted in playing it but I really dont like the idea of puting stickers on boardgamematerial etc.
One thing I’ll note is the shut up and sit down review. They highly, highly recommend that you play every session with the full player count of five. Check that review for more details.
That picture on the cover of the box pretty much captures my attitude should anyone ever suggest we play this game. Never played this, but after watching all the reviews of it I cannot imagine liking it. Hey guys, let's play a game the dramatizes all the dysfunctional pissing and moaning of modern government?
It's a bit sad to see how reviewers are forced by hype to provide reviews of legacy games before they finish them :( I think it's unfair to call it 'review' as it is still completely possible that by the end of the game you will be less happy about spent time if the ending is meh or the last few plays were mundane. Still I need to admit that the sooner we get this kind of previews the sooner we can jump on a hype train and enjoy one thing before another overshadows it with new wave of anticipation.
@@thedicetower sure, but this is still not the whole game, maybe just half of it from what I understood. I still remember how it happened with SeaFall when it went from yay/maybe-ok to nay/horrible. Of course this half of the game review is much better than no review and this is a big time investment from you guys, but I'm still waiting for the full review of Queensdale, Clan Legacy and maybe The King's Dilemma? Of course 9 games for $50 is already a ton of great content and already a better deal time-wise than Exit games for the same price (and I think Exit games are totally worth all the fun time they provide, no complains here :) ), yet what if it will be the same fiasco as Time Stories, where half of the games were good to great and the rest... well, you have a good full review out there :)
But if I'm wrong and it's not a pressure from audience/time that leads to half-reviews, this is cool. PS. and of course I wouldn't expect fully finished play of a game like Gloomhaven before reviewing it :D

Tom's player board was Le' Sav. That's some big brain naming right there.
what does it mean
@@cosmosflowermusic It's Vasel backwards. That's Tom's last name.

Also Rhymes with La Havre :v

I'm REALLY looking forward to hearing what you think when it's all done. I'm considering this one for my group's very first legacy game.
Justin Swaine pandemic Legacy Season 1 was an AMAZING first Legacy to start with.
Hi Tom, so after 1 year can you share your final thoughts?
So this game is basically Reigns the video game, right?
Hmm...but Reigns has its own game out on Kickstarter rn...
I immediately thought of Reigns as soon as I saw the core mechanic of the game.
Reigns the *board* game :)
I do really like the House art!
I think it be fun to see a game similar to this that’s flavored into the present day.
I just wish my friends were into these types of games. I love rpg board games and board games in general
Find new friends
So unique and interesting, first real politics game I saw, and a chance to discuss that in a role play scenario
Where is possible to buy it ? It sounds great

I wonder where he got that hat
can ANYONE tell me where to find an English version of this game! looking for this everywhere and all I could find is Italian language version!
This just came back in print btw, zatu for example had copies recently
Excellent!
He's wearing the hat from the latest boring unboxing :)
I am excited to get this
Im curious to where Tom grew up. He almost has a hint of a Boston accent or something.
I believe he may have grown up in Florida?
He was born in Pennsylvania move to s. Korea and then ended up in Florida.
I like this!
My Birthday!
Great game concept! But the board looks like a mashup of a football field and some basketball team logos
I agree. Very blah-looking board. The cards and house cards are attractive. … Surprised they didn’t do more with the board and the counters
I want to play this so bad. Been waiting for it to finally appear on Amazon
How's replayability?
@@johchadow Which is the reason why I never buy legacy games.
Reffie2 Yes, you will “only” play it about 20 times.
@ that's a god way of looking at it I got really burned by betrayel legacy. Tee story got stale and overstayed its welcome I might look into this one.
@@chuckm1961 I will not pay money to not use content.
But hey, if you want to do that than have fun I guess.
Reffie2 Please explain to me how playing a game 20 times is “not using content.”
