The DESERVED Downfall of Counter-Strike

- At one point CSGO was the biggest game in the world but how did CS2 become so unpopular as it is today? Well in this video I explain the story behind Counter Strike 2 and how it became so popular in the first place seeing ohnepixel raw and Sparkles as well as zipelCS alongside it. Even though I couldn't cover everyone, HaiX or Goldec and newcomers like DuwapCS are still playing a significant role in CS to this day, I tried appreciating the highs and the lows of cs update and career progression, evaluating and considering how things came to be over the years and how case opening played a significant part in it.
Special thanks to Kalex and ArrowCS, his video really helped me out when beginning research of this video. Apologies in advance if I made any mistakes in my research. This video took me maybe 2 months to make. Some music is from LEMMiNO and ivory. - Ігри

@orjay6745 do you think charging 30pct of a game developers' income to sell on their platform isn't greedy? Other platforms charge between 10 and 15 pct.
They punish honest players in every single one of the games you mentioned while protecting the cheaters and scammers. I paid for CS GO. They just removed the whole game.
They are angering enough people to hopefully make them start feeling it in their pockets. CS2 is dying because they punish their honest players and protect the dishonest ones.
There is an incredibly sophisticated ai anti cheat available that could ban players based on their individual play style. Like having fingerprints of the abuser to prevent them from ever being able to play the game again no matter the machine or account.
I'm not crying ;) I'm boycotting and will not stop sharing my story as far and wide as possible. Anti cheat should be at the top of valves list. A company that made close to a bil on cases last year could easily take 5% of that money and have a cracked anti cheat. No reason for a new operation with cheaters in every game

The downfall is only temporary, once CS2 is polished, game modes like danger zone return and new content is released the player base will spike up again. Before CS2, people have hope that CS2 would have better anticheat. But CS2 cheaters problem is even worst than CSGO. Most games, has cheaters lurking around blatantly or hidding. There is almost no point to practice to increase skill because you still lose to cheaters.
Any skill gained when trying to face off against cheaters, will not translate to skill when cheaters are purged from the game. They will have to adapt to an opponent who is also playing clean and trying to get a read so they can make a play

Counter Strike’s biggest problem by far in the CS:GO and CS2 era has been cheating. You can’t have a competitive FPS when you basically let cheaters cheat freely lol.

@@si-jd9oq why doesn't it make sense? Valve has bots, people have the ability to literally have bots farm their xp. How would it work? Kind of like any cheat would, except it requires no inputs. AI would do it completely.
Totally different from actual bots with "Bot" as their latency instead of a number, if that's what you mean. This is....I implore you to go down the rabbit hole of how messed up the game is. If people could teleport by just pasting x,y,z, *client side* commands into their console, jumping, hitting enter, then landing at an entirely different area of the map, then the game is held together by glue and duct tape. That teleport "glitch" was about a month ago.
Why did that "glitch" work? Subtick
The server counted a tick, then because jumping is going to be counted as a different position that the player is in, then that will also be read as a tick. Only problem is, whilst the server is busy sending and receiving info about a player, it has been given info regarding a player's current position...both as a value on the ground, and a value in the air. The same x and z coordinates are the same, so it ignores it, as the player just is jumping straight up in the air. Then the player lands on the ground, with the server still parsing the last ticks, whilst it is being given an updated set of ticks regarding "player movement" (player movement, that the server should recognize as being impossible -- "player moved halfway across the map in 0.1 seconds -- maybe ban player?" But no, the game cannot even manage that.

You made some good points, but also some bad points. I honestly doubt the removal of danger zone had any major impact on the playerbase, probably less than 80k players cared about it. Also comparing the playerbase at the worst hours in the day to the all time peaks of the day is just plain misinformation.
In the end what killed cs2 for me was the absolutely atrocious launch plagued with bugs, horrible shooting, horrible hitreg (somehow worse than csgo's unless played on lan) and removed content. One thing that probably hasn't helped is the emergence of popular (even if temporarily) non AAA games like Battlebit and Palworld. It can be easy to forget about a game that's stagnant when there are new games to be excited about
I don't think the data is conclusive that there is a "downfall". It seems to be returning to 2022 numbers (which are still very good, btw) now that the hype around CS2 is over. I wouldn't call that a downfall, this is a really common phenomenon with game launches. I predict that it will remain pretty stable from there.
Long comment so sorry about that:
You seem to have a knack for editing, which is great for UA-cam. But just know that you can still have gaps between your speeches and you don't need to have constant non-stop talking with miniscule to no pauses, not counting fade-to-blacks. The never-ending barrage of talking with little pausing can make your voice lack charm or personality. Also, I have no idea if you are using some kind of software or AI to write the captions, but there were some very odd typos in the captions at a few points in the video, typos that do not look like they had been caused by human error, not to mention that at a few points the captions fell out of pace with the voiceover, and ended up changing far too quickly. I am sure you did your research, but your claim that Wingman was removed from CS2 is completely false.
All of these factors combined can make your channel come across as a soulless trend-hopping video assembly line, rather than a person who is passionate about making videos talking about things they like, i.e. CS:GO. If you don't at all care about being less soulless in favor of faster video production and higher quantity of uploads, then disregard everything I have said, but if not, I hope you can make your next videos with much more passion and quality. Thanks.
tl;dr try not to be a video assembly line type channel with soulless and mind-numbing content.

Bro is also "giving away" knife skins... on a channel with less than 1k subs. I like how noone cares about the "giveaway" because they know it's a lie. All those "CS History" channels that popped off in the last few years have also done so and again, not a lot of people fell for that there either. I think he also said that CS2 was announced in 2022 during the video. It is a video assembly line type channel with soulless and mind-numbing content, you are absoultely correct on that one.
This video proved nothing. No facts just opinions. You also talk like Gaben made the whole game by himself
People do that all the time with figure heads. It surprises people when they learn that Valve employees work on projects relatively unopposed whenever they want to.
why is this video like the same as a pixel gun 3d downfall video, the thumbnail and intro are identical
Holy shit you're right lol, this guy just straight up stole the thumbnail and intro narration from some other guy's video about another game. (Video title "How Pixel Gun 3D Lost 98% of its Players")
cs2 is such a hollow husk of what i enjoyed in 2016 csgo. i really hope they revert a lot of these updates and at the very least bring it back to where csgo was initially.
Cs literally is at its highest average player count
bot farmers*
unless they fix the cheating problem this game is dead..i stopped playing
look at the current state of tf2 right now, I don’t think valve will fix cheating In counter strike.
I stopped playing way back when the R8 Revolver first came out. It was completely broken before the nerfs came out. I was convinced Valve just doesn't know what to do with Counter-Strike and CS 2 didn't excite me. Not like it really matters to them because they're making enough money with Steam (micro-transactions and selling other games) so they have no reason to care anymore.
Really one of the best Videos by such a UA-camr with such less subscribers keep it up my guy ❤🎉
guys i will never quit this game♥everything will be better
ragebait slop
Your game is a slop populated by bots cheaters and gambling addicts
I disagree about innovation. We don't want innovation, we want our polished masterpiece back. If they had just added the new buy menu, updated the graphics and added the premier ranks into CSGO I would be perfectly content playing it forever.
No we actually want both! Variety is key!
@@sskuk1095 The only variety I want in CS is an updated map pool every year.
I wish that CS2 would add in classic shooter game modes into the game like Team Deathmatch, Capture The Flag, and etc as it would help keep the game fun and interesting as opposed to what we got now and have had for decades that has gotten very stale for a lot of people, myself included.
Even if they seemingly play their cards perfectly now, it will be years if not tens of years before cs2 will be like peak csgo. The damage is already been done, investors are pulling away from supporting teams because of the cheater problem in qualifiers
They just simply need better ac
Thats not on Valve thats on TO's. The open rmr was played with acros and not vac so thats straight up not on Valve. Teams are coming back bc of the insane sticker money, Even thinking it will take tens of years is just delusional
"To find out where things went wrong... we need to go back blablabla", could you be any more generic?
CS2 was not announced in 2022, it was announced early 2023.
You could have made this video 5x shorter and talked about the "downfall" of CS2 instead of CS as a whole, because in the grand scheme of things this franchise "downfall" doesn't exist and CS2 player count will inevitably rise again. It has held the title "king of competitive shooters" since 1999 and its not about to give up its crown. People dont return to CS to play fucking danger zone or arms race, they return to play Counter-Strike, because theres nothing else truly like it.
You said that CS2 is basically just a re-skin of CSGO which is true. Newer graphics with clear visibility is what the game needed along with some QoL updates to keep the game fresh. The rest is low priority, it's CS, a tried and true formula for over 20 years.
The issue lies with a rushed release to meet expectations, and releasing an unfinished product. I think it's insane that you made this entire essay and missed the chance to voice the horrible optimization CS2 has, because when it comes to the core product, this is the biggest issue. It runs and feels horrible to play compared to CSGO. People have horrible framerates that are wildly inconsistent, input lag and the dumpster-fire known as sub-tick.
While the cheating issues are true it doesn't really affect pro players which you say no longer have a chance to play fairly..? What do you mean by this? Pros dont play premier, they play Faceit for the "casual" CS experience and otherwise scrim, pracc or compete.
I agree that removing official support for CSGO was the dumbest thing they could have done. Because like you said, when CSGO got better people started migrating and that's what should have happened now too. A natural successor. Well, a polished and optimized CS2 would have been better but you get the gist.
For your next video, do more research. Ask thought proviking questions and try to find a formula that makes you stand out, incorporate the shit that gets you hard and it will come across as authentic.
the optimization is fine...
Plot twist: This video is AI generated😂😂😂
there was a time where csgo didn't have an operation for two and a half years. so yeah major updates take time who woulda thunk it
For me it's the gunplay. I don't care about not being able to waste my time in multiple gamemodes, i just don't want to learn how to use guns again. I still don't know if the AK spray pattern just feels odd or if it's completely different
Call me copium but once new operation lands we are back. And those low numbers are relative. Rust has much less players but is still very alive
I dunno what universe you on but 700k players online aint a low number
Man, every time a new update was released, I watched my FPSs drop significantly... Whereas I was king in 2016 with my brand new PC (which was "entry level" by the standards, mind you) I was demoted to peasant by 2023... and that without mentioning the frustration of meeting a new hacker in ANY round!
a cool update that I would play for a bit would be be when the bomb goes off, it would destroy some of the map in real time. I think that would be cool to see the after math.
L video
Man what a great video ! Keep up the good work, i hope you will get more successful :)
The production quality of this vid is insane. Keep up the good work. Who knows? Maybe one day you'll be famous cuz you are criminally underrated :)
I believe in my opinion apart from everything dogsushi said the main reason people left CS was the fact it became Free cause it allowed Smurfers and Cheaters to create account after account to go to lower-middle ranks in competitve and ruin the game for everybody cause it would make sense if you paid 20 euros for a csgo account hack in competitive games get VACCED and buy another account weeks maybe even months later no one is so stupid to give 20 euros after 20 euros just like that
I mean the only solution that could help with the chaeters is either make a system that IP Bans the hackers/smurfers meaning that the game has to read your computers IP Adress and if its one that was banned before not allow you to play again(unless you make a new pc if your that crazy) or use a programm they use in ESPORTS(Forgot the name) to identify if the players have installed hacks in their Accounts
I started playing CS:GO in January 2016, 1 month before Operation Wildfire was released. I will never forget how good this game was back in the day, in fact it was perfect. In my opinion ever since Panorama update it started to go downhill and the word "deserved" is very accurate. I played through Operation Wildfire and Hydra and I can say without a doubt it was the best time in CS, but even without the Operations, before Panorama update I just enjoyed playing CS, the gameplay itself was very pleasing. Worst updates? Changing old Inferno, old Dust II and the Danger Zone update. I'm not a hater of Danger Zone, I really enjoyed playing it (until a group of people started to try hard 24/7 and normal players couldn't move cuz they got jumped on with bump mines as soon as they respawned), but the Danger Zone update should've been a new Operation instead and ofc CS shouldn't have been made free which Gaben later thought was wrong and made it paid again (to get Prime status). Honestly I don't feel sorry for CS, the game got ruined by devs stupid choices and bad updates, CS2 is absolute garbage and after 8 years it's time for me to say goodbye to this game. I'm just sad that all of my memories I had in this game I won't be ever able to relive because the game itself doesn't exist.
I am still mad that achievements have been removed while I was grinding them... Also surf is buggy and community servers are hard to find.
oh and yet somehow my servers still somehow manage to always be "experiencing a high load"
If you're getting bored with comp or premiere then check out the community servers. Already a solid variety of fan made maps, some play better than the official ones.
I feel like Dogsushi made no mention of the community servers to bolster his argument, but that is what really has been the core of fans throughout the whole series.
i had fun as a low rank player in csgo
now i need 10 wins in a single map to get ranked
in the mean time i am matched against way stronger opponents
so i get trashtalked and either we lose or i get kicked for being bad
so i never get the 10 wins and the only way to play is to get hated on
fun
