    Hey Mark! I was working on one of my (failed) Original characters, and was looking through my Manga drawing book, when I noticed a name that looked VERY familiar..! I had seen the name somewhere before and decided to check the back of the book for the "Authors Notes" and it said near the bottom, "I wouldn't be able to have written this book if it wasn't for my UA-cam subscribers..!" That's when it clicked!! This book, it is YOUR book! Your "Mastering Manga" Book! My BFF bought this book for me for my birthday, and I have been using it for many different pictures and it has helped a load! I just wanted to thank you for writing that book because it has helped me, VERY much!!
    I hope you have a great day, and continue your amazing work to help me learn how to draw better! Thanks..!

    I don't always watch your videos like I used to because I feel as if I have passed the anime/manga style art and have moved onto painting but I love coming back every now and then. There is nothing like hearing the same cheery greeting at the start and the calm voice that gives great drawing tips. I have bought a few books (or borrowed from a library if I cant find a copy) and have been watching for years so it's always nice to see a video :) x

    I enjoyed this video. I just received 2 books of yours. Realism and Manga 3 and I will be going through one at least tonight. Thanks for your great contribution to the art world. Its also great that I can receive art orders in the Caribbean. The only thing is its costly but worth every cent.

    Just a small note: I like the fact that you say how much time it takes you. I makes me realise that drawings needs time. That is something I have struggled with, since you see so much good art made whit speed up fotage. So just saying that something takes more time than it looks, I appriciate that.

My problem is that the hair never looks right against the background I create....especially when doing watercolors. if like to know how to make it look like a cohesive image.

    markcrilley, Such a great job on your drawings...you are definitely a great inspiration of mine. Where are the best ways to request some tutorials since I have a couple I'd like to request. The first request is a how-to-draw anime character (any character) but I would like to see you do one in full color with Prismacolors (since I'm having some trouble in properly utilizing the rich color layers of skin, clothing, and hair). The second request is a how-to-draw Noctis from Final Fantasy 15 video game (colored or black&gray).

  • @mrfrost745
    @mrfrost745 7 років тому

    I don't know if markcrilley would read this so i would like his audience's opinions as well. I have always avoided guidance when it comes to drawing because i want to be original. Because by being original i could understand how 'I'' draw. This helped me experiment different art styles and sought to understand more about the ''foundations'' of drawing.
    So my question is, is this a healthy practice for an artist,or is this a habit i should get rid of?

    Mark Crilley, I have a confessions to make...
    When I see eraser crumbs on your paper, and I have the video paused... I blow on the screen thinking the crumbs will go away. I forget that it is not actual paper in front of me. I did this for the first time when introducing my younger cousin ( who is starting to take drawing more seriously) to one of your videos ( and the channel as a whole), and I paused it to explain something to her, and she didn't know why I started laughing so hard. She didn't see me try to blow the crumbs off the screen, and immediately face-palm afterwards. It was painfully and stupidly hilarious! #ArtistHabits

    It's funny, every time I see one of your tutorial videos, I get confused by your use of guidelines, but I've recently seen a video that felt like it could explain it.
    Would this form of guideline usage be some form of variant on Reilly's abstraction methods perhaps?
    I'm very used to using proportional relationships and divisions to put down how a face would end up looking in different angles,
    so the current use of guidelines confuses me
