    The backdrops look great. The Modeler Highlight is a great add to your videos. I have seen someone else use the reflective tape on cars. They were using the black and yellow stripes 2" x 30' reflective tape from HF Tools.

    Another great watch! its amazing the difference those photo backdrops make, loved Aki's layout, I like how his backdrop gave the feel of a city but were almost just sketched and shaded building shapes, gave the impression of a large city but didn't pull your focus from the layout and trains, and while I'm a die hard SP guy, that NP Northcoast limited is my favorite passenger scheme, looking forward to the next episode as always

      Thanks Scott. Your feedback is always great to hear. I never know what fellow modelers like or dislike…unless they say something.
      You’re so right about the buildings on Aki’s RR. I’ve thought the same thing, it’s an illusionary art…so often, we can be too literal.
      Thanks again for tuning in and as always, it’s great to hear your take.
      p.s. I’m with you on the Northcoast Limited, it’s a sharp looking scheme.

      It’s your notes that have helped us improve the GN in 1970. Now, to get you all out for another round of ops. If you know a good dispatcher, let him know, we’ll fire up the system…upon his availability (we know the RR might dictate his schedule, but we’d like a 2nd crack at a smoother running session with the full crew).

    William, another excellent episode and perfectly timed as I just picked up some Tamiya Panel Line Accent Color wash. Thanks for demonstrating your techniques using the wash. The new backdrops really enhance the layout. Using the special craft scissors is a neat trick to prevent a smooth edge where you cut the skyline off from the trees.-Tom

    Love the backdrops and weathering techniques. I’ve not used the panel line washes for anything but lines. I’ll have to try them out on a full car side.

    • @SootheMilwaukeeRoad
      @SootheMilwaukeeRoad  3 роки тому

      I wasn’t sure how the wash would work on an entire car side, but I’m always looking for ways to emulate a texture/look from the prototype. The full car wash was a happy accident, when I tried to use the black to know down the brightness of a GN big sky blue bulkhead.
      You’ll have to share your experiences, after you try it out.

    Don’t forget Ol’ Waylon
    “Ain't that just like a fool to want a ride
    On them trains when the train is all gone”
    And
    “I got the train sitting’ waitin’
    Leavin’ right on time”

    Far as I can”
    “Till that train runs out of track”

    Even my wife loves your videos. I torture her with model train videos and she really enjoys yours. “He doesn’t make us watch the paint dry” Me: “Hold on a sec.”lol
    Great job on the weathering and the backdrops. Looks so good. Wife: Do you have those weathering paints? Me: No, I’m no Bill.
    Your dad: (holds smile during filming)
    Me: So that’s who he gets his sense of humour from!
    Lastly, Cullen can sing! Has he ever shot a man in Reno? Wait! No, that’s not my question. Umm… did he do time in Folsom? No, wait! Umm… ok.. relevant.. Has Cullen ever ridden a passenger train and if yes, which one?

    • @SootheMilwaukeeRoad
      @SootheMilwaukeeRoad  3 роки тому

      Mark, you’ve always got a great post. It’s clear your wife has great “selective” taste. I mean, she sifted you out of society’s stream of people to spend life with. I’d say she gets funny people…where the stiff personalities of the world don’t.
      Quirky, slapstick comedy isn’t for everyone, but I enjoy life and it’s too short to be boring. I probably laugh the hardest, when I’m in the same room as my dad. As you noted, my dad hamming it up, that is probably where I get my humor.
      You’ll have to keep an eye out for “Easter-egg’s” showing up during the episodes. As you’re developing a series of questions that may go beyond Cullen.
      Now, it’s time for you to try some washes and to at least do a basic weathering job. I weathered a GN bulkhead, with just the black wash and a light dusting of chalks. I’ll probably surface in a video at some point.
      Thanks for taking the time to post and be sure to let your wife know, “I endure the time it takes for the paint to dry…then time-lapse it, so she doesn’t have too. Nobody should go through that kind of torture in real time, that’s just cruel.”
