What is something you MUST have in your skate bag?
Phone tripod, headphones, slalom cones and sunscreen
apart from my safety gear ofc, extra socks, a bottle of water, headphones and power bank! :)
Half frozen bottle of water and more water. Sunglasses! That I always lose. So, I need to invest in multiple pairs.
I would bring everything including the kitchen sink, so I limit myself to essentials. Sunglasses, face mask, rechargeable fan (because I'm always too hot skating), pepper spray or a stun gun, Y3 skate tool, ice water in a Hydro Flask, sunblock stick, a skate leash, Crocs (bc I hate carrying heavy shoes), a simple first aid kit, mints or gum for that workout breath, & pads!💜💜💜
@@CherryFruitSnack pepper spray or a stun gun? Have you ever been attacked when skating? Do you hold it in your hand or on your person easy to grab because digging into your bag to find one of these won't save you.
My skate bag? Oh boy! Remember, you asked for this! LOL
Okay...mine is a wheeled luggage bag I take to the rink, but a regular backpack for the park, local tennis court, etc. that has pretty much everything the same.
The main difference - rink bag holds a notebook and several pens (getting people's numbers/social media info., as well as making a request list - always more fun to skate to songs you like) while my park/outdoor bag holds my pads and helmet, plus some cool inexpensive cones and "railroad chalk" - basically sidewalk chalk, just white instead of pretty colors - I got for practicing agility. (I draw circles with the chalk first, practice weaving in and out of those, THEN use the actual cones...placing them closer and closer together each time as I get better).
Both bags contain a Y3 tool, screwdriver (my youngest still has fixed stops), hex key for my Avanti plates, bearing pull (Bones), bearing push (Powerdyne, it's a 2-part thing, I LOVE that it's so portable, could fit in a pocket), spare toe stops, spare bearings (a full set plus extras), spare wheels (also several, but not a full set), laces, laces, and more laces (ALWAYS the weakest thing on your skates), spare kingpins, spare bolts (for fixed stops), spare washer and nut (for adjustable stops), masks, hand sanitizer, Orange Goop or Fast Orange (great for cleaning wheels, the "smooth" formula of either product), baby wipes (changing parts - especially bearings - your hands get gross! LOL), Grip Juice (my city was built on a swamp, sometimes the rink is like roller skating on ice), spare axle nuts and kingpin nuts, spare cushions...basically I could almost build a skate below the boot...LOL

Deodorant, mole skin (great to prevent as well as protect blisters), band-aids of all sizes, gauze (honestly don't know which is worse, pavement or a freshly coated rink, when falling), antibacterial ointment, a couple bandanas (great for use as a sling in an emergency), Chill-Its (run them under cold water for 3-5 minutes, they stay cool for hours - great on hot days, just tie them around your neck, use as a headband, wrap around your wrist, etc.)...um...oh, the stretchy "gauze" (in a rainbow of colors/patterns) and a few popsicle sticks (great to make a make-shift splint with if you fall and think you may have broken your wrist or finger)...being female, of course, pads and tampons...bearing oil..and EVA foam sheets (5 or 6mm thick sheets work great for making insoles and are cheaper than actual insoles)...several pairs of socks, and a spare t-shirt or two..oh, yeah, and some dynamos (the magnetic part that goes in the middle of light-up wheels...I skate hard, they tend to crack now and then). In winter, I also put a pair of shorts in my rink bag, just in case it gets too hot inside.
Yeah...I think that's everything...no, wait...drinks and snacks, for both bags as well. Found a cool 4 quart canteen on Amazon for around $15. Plus antacids and Tylenol because you never know.

Oops! P.S. Key items (wallet, keys, cell phone, chap stick, and extra hair ties) all go into a fanny pack that I carry pretty much everywhere I go - on wheels or off.

I am back to skating after 20-30 years (only skated 4x within the last 2 months. Going to take a lesson @ Dirty Deborah’s Family Skating Center tmr), so my bag is pretty empty compared to yours. I have the knee, wrist & elbow pads, water, snacks, socks and one of the tools. Going to get that Lysol since you mentioned it. 🤣😂🤣. I have to learn how to change wheels. We never worried about the parts as kids. Lol! I think that laces is a good idea, too. Thanks!

Ok my skate pack is STOCKED!
Front pocket of my Jansports bag is my tools and i am just as guilty of carrying a heap of tools.
King chrome Allen keys set thats like a Swiss army knife set up ( very compact) , a Bung skatebord tool set up T tool with its bits, a crazy skate X tool , a bones bearing puller and a pack of bushings in a zip lock bag that i can swap out anything from a skate board trucks to puting in a new pivot cup on skates anyehere.
Same pocket, i have spare washers, wheel nuts and bearings all slid on to a old shoe lace to keep them all together and another set of toe stops and laces.
Oh my ear pods and some tin foil , yes tin foil folded up in a zip lock bag to remove wax after the scooter kids have covered the whole park in way to much of the stuff in there too. Handy stuff.
Second pocket is all about my first aid kit.
A few different types of dressings, bandages, medical tapes, betadine spay, neiosporn cream, hand sanitizer, disposable gloves if i have to deal with someone elses blood, mozy repellent , a face mask , a snap cold pack and a knee and wrist sports brace.
I can jam my phone and keys in that pocket too.
My back pack main big pocket fits my triple 8 full set of pads , my big blue tooth speaker , a portable charger pack with cables , a change out of wheels threaded on to a shoe lace... yep i love my shoe laces as they have many uses, a spare pair of socks but i have 2 pairs of old long stripy socks that have died and had the foot cut out of them .
1 pair has a thumb hole cut out on them to wear under my wrist guards if im going to be having a sweaty and a second lot to wear under my knee pads if im not wearing jeans as they can chafe on hot days and im wearing shorts ,my skates and water bottle and i clip my triple 8 helmet to the strap of my bag.
The only thing i cant fit in to my bag but its in the boot of my car is a broom with a collapsible handle to sweep up crap on the skate park that being a major hassle.
My seeing glasses have UV teanstions lenses so i have sunglasses everywhere there is sun all the time.

Hi Rebel! Do you have any suggestions for a Y3 skate tool replacement? I am having a hard time finding a tool in stock that can both adjust my toe stop and my trucks. Thank you for all your content
Most "skateboard" tools will do both. The only difference with those is that there isn't the wrench for adjustable toe stops, of course.
My skates haven’t come in yet, but I know one absolute essential for me will be painkillers. I carry them in my regular backpack as it is.
If I skate with no socks will i need to get my toe nails removed 🤪 - i am curious to what it feels like tbh
