The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is home to the greatest stars and the history of the game. Located in scenic Cooperstown, New York, the Hall of Fame is dedicated to preserving the sport's history, honoring excellence within the game, and connecting generations through baseball.
There aren't many things more soothing than listening to Buck O'Neil talk about baseball. R.I.P
Powerful words from a great man. “ You can be ugly but God didn’t make you that way.” Classic buck O’neil .
Title is a tad misleading. This wasn't Buck O'Neil's HOF Induction Speech. He was inducted posthumously as a Baseball Executive ~ in 2022. Love you, Buck! ⚾
I think the thing that I marveled with this gentleman the most, is he had every right to be bitter and yet he wasn't. The HOF dosent deserve him. Rest well Mr. O'Neil. You represent what we should be.
Just looking at Buck O'Neil makes you smile. Clearly a very kind man with a very kind heart.
Congratulations to Buck O'Neil on getting in the Hall of Fame. They should just replay this speech. I cry almost every time I watch it. A true ambassador for baseball.
He deserved to be inducted before he died but I am happy he is finally getting in. I met him in 1998 he came to talk to my baseball coaching class and after the lecture we all stayed and listened to him talk more, he was such a great guy answered all our questions and some great stories of Josh Gibson and Satchel Paige. I will have to make it to Cooperstown again to see his plaque.
I was thinking the same thing.
He should have gotten in when alive. He passed away about 10 weeks after this speech.
@@AEMoreira81 interesting math. He wasn't inducted until 2022!
They finally got it right!! Welcome to the Hall Buck
When I die I wanna walk on to my own field of dreams and have buck o'neil be my MANAGER! You're the MAN Buck!
I'm right there with u.
You'll have to hope that God gives him his release. Buck O'Neill is manager of God's team right now.
Buck O'Neil was pure class. No hate in the mans heart. We need more good folk today like Ole Buck.
Rest in peace my brother.
"Why would you feel sorry for me?"
That's what he told Ken Burns about not getting to play in MLB.
I got the honor to meet Mr. O’Neil in the late 80’s. He was telling us stories, he was a national treasure. Rest in Power sir.
This man had more baseball knowledge than any man in baseball ever. A great and humble man. Put him in the hall of fame. A true ambassador to the great game of baseball.
One of the great heroes of baseball.
Even though he never played in the majors he was never bitter about it. A true class act.
God bless you Buck. Rest easy you beautiful soul.
Love you Buck ❤️
HOW could he NOT be inducted into the hall of fame - as much deserving as any of them. They named an award after him but still no excuse
BOB UECKER. In baseball hall of fame - but not Buck
***** STILL was NOT inducted in Baseball HOF- Lifetime Achievement Award or not
I was there that day! My great great uncle was inducted into the hall of fame! Frank Grant. It's unfortunate that Buck O'neil wasn't before his death!! He was great that day and deserves recognition!!
I'm bawling my eyes out. Rest in peace Buck O'Neil.
Love Buck O'Neil..he was truly one of a kind . He told the best stories n lived his best life
One of my favorite humans. God bless Buck.
Mr O’Neil, today you finally got your induction. Love you and I truly miss you 💙
Thanks so much for making this available. Buck O'Neil was an American treasure.
Until the day he's inducted into the Hall of Fame there is a stain on MLB worse than any steroid scandal.
Buck O'Neil IS baseball.
Went to Cooperstown in 2009, first thing you see when you walk in is a statue of the man himself, Buck O'neil... yet he has no plaque. Much deserving to be in the HOF
He may finally get that chance. He is one of 10 candidates on the “Early Baseball” committee’s ballot, and the vote will be held on December 5th, 2021, with the result being announced later that same day. Of the 10 candidates on that ballot, seven of them played in the Negro Leagues and eight of the ten are BIPOC (the seven Negro Leagues players and Allie Reynolds, who was mixed white and Muscogee and an enrolled member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation).
The Early Baseball committee vote (which covers those who made their greatest contributions to baseball before 1949) will be held alongside that of the Golden Days committee (which covers 1950-1969). My fingers are crossed for Buck and his family, and I hope his family will finally be able to celebrate his induction.
To get in, he’ll need votes from 12 of the 16 committee members. (And I don’t think they’re restricted to voting for just one candidate, if I remember correctly.)
Today is the day
He’s in the hall now!!!
Good news…
I love it when he told stories about Satchel
"Nancy"
As a historian my comment is not academic or necessarily all that profound. But what Buck O'Niel has done for major league baseball js astounding. In that first, predecessors to what the game is today such as Negro League ballplayers lifted the game I love to a divine pedestal. It's my desire to visit the Negro Leagues Hall of Fame where Mr. O'Neil is chairman sometime. So thanks Buck for manifesting that legacy where tributes to the Detroit Stars, Kansas City Monarchs, Pittsburgh Crawfords et.al still exist. As a matter of fact in Hamtramck, Michigan on the outskirts of Detroit, a former Detroit Stars ballpark has been restored and is active toward youth development by allowing them to play to their potential.
Yes, thanks Buck.
I feel like literally anybody else who tried to start that singalong would have been booed off the stage, but the audience just goes along with it because it's Buck O'Neil asking :) what an amazing guy.
I could have listened to this wonderful gentleman read the label on a ketchup bottle or a menu for hours and never blinked. Somebody honor this man properly. Name an award after him. Anything.
There is an award named after him. The Buck O'Neil Lifetime Achievement Award.
And yet they won't put this legend in Cooperstown.
Bob Costas said it best...Buck is a National Treasure. Finally in the HOF, Buck is in Heaven with his Lord (and mine), but his loving spirit and accomplishments in baseball are alive and well on this old earth. Look down on us and smile, Buck. We Love You!
Buck O'Neill was and is my all-time favorite human being, that is famous. Mr. O'Neill told it like it was, like it is, and always had a smile and a kind word for others.
Great speech!! Hell of a man!! I could listen to Mr. O'Neil talk all day!
Awesome
One can listen for hours listening to Buck O'Neill talk baseball.
could listen to his stories all day
Sbe the 1st Black MGR.in the College of Coaches( Cubs 1961-65) but Phil Wrigley said no.Shamefull.
I'm so sorry he wasn't elected before he passed. I could go down to the Negro League Museum and listen to him talk all day - even though I'd heard the stories many times.
You and me both, brother...when Buck spoke he transported everybody listening back to their childhood
What a beautiful man!
Buck was a bigger person than baseball itself! How he wasn’t giving his own HOF speech speaks of the corruption of the MLB office. The rules replays and cameras have taken the baseball out of baseball. Buck IS baseball!
I could listen to him all day long.
You took the words out of my mouth.
That was Great!!!! Everyone should have to listen to that speech ❤️❤️
buck o neil just got elected to the hall class of 2022
I have personally NOT watched a MLB baseball game since this travesty and I’ve been watching on tv, live games and listening on radio all my life. Thank you honorary Grandpa Buck who I never met.........
Thank goodness that injustice was rectified today. I wish he’d seen it.
About time they let Buck in.. what a shame it took so long.
I love this man so much. Period.
Class Class Class!
Put him in the Hall of Fame!
Just LOVE
An entertaining and well-conditioned man. For his age? Great speech, great attitude.
What a man I can lessen to him all day.
An angel sent to us. God bless Mr. Buck O’Neal & all who love The Creator.
YUP
Most Definitely an Angel of his time,God Bless him.
Buck O'NEILL was a national treasure I loved this man , great baseball player , great coach . RIP Sir ✝️✝️✝️🙏🙏🙏🇺🇸⚾
Amazing.
I went to a StL Cardinals game around 2005. I happened to wear my KC Monarchs hat. On the way to the ballpark, a gentleman grinned and said, "Nice hat!" I smiled and said, "Still the winningest team in Kansas City history!" And indeed they are!
What an amazing man.
I will come see your Hall of Fame Buck! God Bless Buck, I love you!
The greatest. What a man.
Glad Buck finally got his due!!
Buck himself said he was NOT a Hall Of Famer. I respectfully disagree. But that sums up Buck O'Neil... A better man than a ballplayer. And a great ballplayer.
An American Legend
I saw Buck make this speech in Cooperstown and he was great giving tributes to those who made the "last train" to Cooperstown even though he was not one of hem. Thank God he finally made it.
What an amazing human being and great American Buck O'Neil was, and his legacy continues to burn brightly. He makes me proud to have had the privilege of being a fellow American during his lifetime. But it also makes me sad and disappointed our country America is not what it should be giving equal respect, love, justice and opportunity to all like our principles say it will.
Wow, Buck could really sing!
It is DISGRACEFUL that Kennesaw Mountain Landis is in but Buck O'Neil is not.
That wrong was finally righted in 2022.
Rest Peacefully, Mr. Buck O'Neil 'U BELONG TO THE AGES NOW'
Why isn't Buck in the HOF?? He was never bitter about it, however he is deserving.
Dropping knowledge like a Boss. #Legend
Easily, without a doubt, one of, if not the single greatest induction speech of any sport I have heard!
Agreed. Uecker's was the funniest.
Great man!!!!!
It's still a complete disgrace that this man does not have a plaque with the other immortals.
why? didnt they give him the honor he so richly deserved when he was alive. SAD!!!! God bless you! Buck.
Buck finally got in, after he died.
Baseball HOF fumbles another one, gets it right, but too late.
He should have been the inductee, not the inductor.
I pray that he gets in on the future, but it sucks that it would have to be posthumous.
Edward Waters College!
Does the Baseball HOF have a "Contributor" category?
😂😂😂Rest in peace 🙏
Great man. Class act. A real gentlemen. But no way, no how he belongs in the H.O.F. If the credentials for getting in is being a wonderful human being, then we have to put another thousand baseball players in.
