As a kid from Miami growing up in the early 2000's Andre was one of my hero's. I wanted to be just like him. An to see him get inducted in the hall of fame is amazing.
My kids and I ran into Andre at the Galleria in Houston about 2 weeks ago. He was with a friend walking along and no one recognized him (he had a hat on), he was a normal person just strolling along the mall. I yelled "THE U" and he turned around and smiled. at me. My son (8 years old) is a big fan of football and Andre is one of his fav WR's and when he realized that it was Andre, he was star struck. Andre is the first famous sports athlete he has ever met, he couldn't believe it. I asked Dre, if we could get a picture with him and my son, and we did! Congratulated him on the induction, shook his hand and told him thank you! This was a moment my son will never forget and will forever cherish! A true class act professional, a genuine and down to earth person, and now our one and only Texans HOF!! Much luv from theH!
@blakecee5947 there's some young new texans fans out there. My nephew just 10 but he knows who andre Johnson the player was and meant for the texans. He never saw him play live but the highlights and hearing the fam talk about him is enough to make him a fan
Great, great player....it was a privilege to watch him play. He played hard, he respected the game, never took a play off, and got the most out of his talent. Congratulations 👈
Dam this put me in tears and he not even my favorite player to watch back then but without a doubt not only did he show up and show out but the way he carried himself was second to none an honorable role model to many!
I felt the same way about this and hesters. Im a colts fan but the moments that they break down. Hester really started to cry when talking about his sister.
AJ you might never read these words, however I want to tell you that you mean so much to me because you were so many times the hope of the sensation to win, to win something for the state of Texas, becase I am not a Houston Native, but my son is, for three years we lived there. Our Team wasn't always good but you sure made seam like it was all the time. We had bad years, but we also had Good Good Years with your spectacular playing. You do not know what you mean to me. To see how humble you are and to see how big you've become, it very very gratifying. My #80 Jersey was the first Jersey I ever bought amd it hangs proud. Thank you for All, I thank God for letting me live in your time. God Bless you Our Giant Andre. Go Texans until the end of the light.
This was more than deserved !!! The city of Houston loves you bro!!!!! You were a forced to wrecken with a DOG on that field always let your skills do the talking forever a GREAT 🏆🏆🏆✅
The fact that he played with Ed Reed, Sean Taylor 🕊️, Frank Gore, Willis McGahee & Clinton Portis on that 2001 roster says a lot about that team at that time 🔥
I never tire listening to HoF speeches. You gain so much insight on their lives. AJ was an electric player and fantasy football stud. Congrats Andre Johnson!
H-TOWN STAND UP!!! Man this is MAJOR! Big Dre the silent assassin, one of the best (THE BEST IN MY OPINION) so much humility with this man, a total class act his entire career. Thank you Andre, for doing it for the H! 🤘🏾💪🏾❤️
Steelers fan at heart but he truly made me start to love the Texans when its not a head to head. That smile on his mommas face is what every man dreams of. You can tell thats a mom that didn't regret any sacrifice she ever made to help him grow. Truly great moment. Couldn't match a player to a team better if you tried. Y'all got another HOFer cooking up as we speak and its a bit scary 😂
Andre Johnson provided so many great moments. Especially in the lean years in Houston. One of only a few bright spots on the early teams. Thanks for the memories!!
I'm 30 and grew up in Houston, AJ 80 will always be my favorite player, he was a quiet guy who could catch a bullet but throw a block like a TE, and put up top 20 numbers on a new team with no QBs. The BEST of Houston sports royalty
It was pleasure watching Andre Johnson on tv he wasn't a diva wr he just came to work didn't do much talking he let play do the talking on the field he was great at the u one of the great champion team was that 2001 national championship team had so many guys went to the NFL me being a rival fsu st football fan
Just imagine if he had a peyton manning or tom brady throwing to him easily would have shattered Jerry Rice's all time record this man still put up insane number with average to below average QBs what a beast
Man I remember Peyton Manning said he wanted to come to Houston too after his injury but kubiak said no. To this day we will never know what could've been
All of the greatest Hall of Fame Wide Receivers have always been complimented with playing alongside a Hall of Fame Quarterback up until now. Congrats to one of the only Wide Receivers to earn their way to the HOF without having a complimentary HOF Quarterback!!
Always something special about seeing an nfl hall of famer thanking his high school coaches and teammates (especially teammates). Its funny that no matter where we end up in life, we will always see our childhood friends and classmates as equals. Whether they're doctors, lawyers, pro athletes, the clerk at the 7/11, a cook at Dennys, or the homeless man under the bridge, we all started in the same place. Hats off to Johnson here for acknowledgement of that!
I had a giant andre johnson poster in my room, he is the reason i always wore 80 in sports, andre was and will always be my favorite player of all time
Way to go, Andre. Best ever. In Houston, these are the great players: Blanda, Campbell, Moon, Childress, Watt, and you, as well as many others. Thank you for giving and playing your best. I’ll never forget your time in Houston. And I’ll never forget that time you stomped on that forgettable Tennessee player for harassing you on the field. Thank you for you and few other players for putting us on the map.
Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson and Julio Jones. 3 of the Top 5 receivers of all time and all HOF’s and also Hall of Fame people. Much respect gentlemen.
He didn’t say a single word about the Colts or Titans either, a true Texan!
We love you, Dre! 🤘
Titans fan, I didn't mind it, he's their first Hall of Famer, that's quite the feat to accomplish.

He let them numbers do the talking 😂💯 i am beyond blessed thst i was able to see him & JJ Watt when they were in Houston.
