I also admire how Raimi's trilogy managed to feel "old-school" in a good way. Lot of components were combined so well in these movies.
NorthernRedStar What do you mean by old-school? I'm curious. Spider-Man 2 is one of my favorite movies.
rloul1 he might be referring to the feeling of how the comic books felt.
nccodyssey Pretty much. It manages to feel classic without feeling outdated.
+NorthernRedStar I know what u mean by old school it has that realism like predator 1 and 2 like alien aliens terminator 2 all Those great 90 films I hate movies nowadays they trying to hard to look like transformers and for that reason I hate the transformers movies only one I like is the first one that's it the only good one and worth watching
NorthernRedStar old school As in his attire and him stealing moneybags of gold coins? Lol yeah I can see that. It's a nice touch of atmosphere.
People complained about Tobey's Spidey having no one liners and overlook gold like "here's your change" at a bank
+Bill Bixby This Spider-Man had one-liners... he just didn't feel the need to do it 24/7.

Peter:"My back."(Peter tries to stand up but he breaks his back again.)Peter:"Ooh! My back!"Me:"1:07"
This is where Aunt may realised Peter was Spider man. She never questions why, nor treats him any different for flat out abandoning her at the bank, and the next time she sees him she gives him the hero speech. Perfect movie.
I thought the next scene they were together was when Peter told her the truth behind Uncle Ben's death
@@stenthetombstone7915 ahhh that's correct mate. Sorry been a while. Either way, I'm sure she clicked here, if she hasn't known all along anyway that is. That's kinda a running theme now with Aunt May character, like in Spidey PS4 or the hint from her after Gwen died in the tasm series.
Aunt may would expect peter is going to get help
Aunt may thought Peter is going to get help, even if she didn't Peter will come to her after changing his costume and explain everything
You could hear it super thick, just dripping off her in that speech, like "the world needs a hero ... HINT HINT!!! I ow-knay you're iderman-spay!"
Ah yes, back in 2004, when banks were full of sacks of gold coins. Such an easy form of currency

Raimi didnt have him do it enough in these movies.
The ASM2 felt more lighthearted than this.

He only did here sadly. Tobeys an amazing actor he could’ve easily pulled it off in all of them
The Darkfrost what about in the first film with

“It’s you who’s out, gobby. Out of your mind!”
Love how Doc Ock decided to rob a bank to respectfully pay for his equipment as opposed to stealing it. Real stand up guy.
Professionals have standards.
The Doc doesn't want to do any fellow scientists dirty like that.
To be serious for a moment, it was probably a lot easier for Ock to just buy the equipment and get it all shipped to him at once rather than go through the trouble of stealing all the necessary parts, which might have required multiple heists.
@@SlasherIncorporated that’s fair. I wonder how that equipment delivery went 😆

Spider-Man 2 is definitely “The Dark Knight” of its trilogy

No Spider-Man movie will ever be better than this. It's almost impossible to make something better than this masterpiece

"Here's your change" stands out as a classic line. I can't remember ONE line from The Amazing Spider-Man.
Luke M To add to that, people seem to be overhyping TASM 2. Dont get me wrong, I will see it and it looks FAR better than the first by a milestone, but saying its gonna be better than Spider-Man 2? That is the boldest statement i have ever heard.
MilesProwerFan4ever Those were my thoughts exactly. As a comic fan I was looking forward to TASM like everyone else. Only to find out how INSANELY overrated it was when I saw it. TASM2 had better deliver or I might consider dropping the rebooted franchise. As it stands now both Spiderman and Spiderman 2 utterly wreck TASM, no contest. In my personal opinion even the not-so-good Spiderman 3 was more enjoyable than TASM as well.
Spider Man 3?

In the new movies
The fact that the arms where puppet driven is what makes this age so well. Even the cgi wasn't overly exaggerated. The way doc Ock slams against the taxi cab you can see a real person actually hitting the cab Instead of a cgi character
Facts
Exactly, I see a too many 3d animations that tend to overexaggerate movement to the point where it's silly. If I was a 3d animation teacher, which I am not but still, I'd teach my students not to get over board.

0:52 "Here's your change!" I love that line. :)
Me too, and people say that Tobey's Spider-Man never made any jokes.
It doesn't feel forced or anything. That's why it works. It came natural.
I could even forgive Tobey's Spider-Man for some of the clunky lines in SM1... like "You're out, Gobby, out of your mind" or whatever it was. Peter was just starting to get the hang of the whole superhero idea. And even in this film, Peter suggests that he's learned most of his superhero antics from his comic books. He was growing as a hero.
Then, they made Spider-Man 3... but let's try to ignore that.
I can't forgive the incredibly childish and out of place line from The Amazing Spider-Man, "Somebody's been a bad lizard" or whatever the hell it was. He goes from trying to talk to The Lizard / King Koopa to making a wise ass remark about the destruction going on around him? Doesn't that seem a little off beat and stupid?
doesn't seem fair, what you are saying is you can forgive the clunky lines from toby's spidy since he was just starting out but not andrew's even though he was just starting out as well? And on a second note spiderman always delivers one liners whatever the situation, whether it be while there is a psychopath in the middle of a burning house, a maniac doctor robbing a bank, or a bi-pedal lizard trying to kill him in school XP
Craxols
Well, Garfield didn't come off like he was learning by experience very quickly. In fact, he seemed very proud of most of shitty lines.
haha it was only the first movie in were he was only a month into his career as spiderman whereas the original one had a two year time lapse in between 2 movies, and to be honest I did not think he was bad at all. i thought his delivery had the same amount of cheesyness and snark as the comic book spiderman. Thats my opinion anyway, sorry if you didn't like it bro but there is a whole second movie were well see how far Andrew's spidy has developed.
I think the best parts of this movie are that the arms are practical puppets in some scenes. It makes this look so much better. This doc ock will always be my favourite marvel villain

I love how at 0:30 Ock still keeps one of his arms down. It may have been to keep himself balanced, or so he could show his 'superiority' over everyone else
Most likely for balance. Unlike in the comics, where Ock acts like he's God's gift to man, Spider-man 2's Ock has snark but is less into himself ( in fact, he hates himself. He's more like Mr. Freeze.....which, ironically, Alfred Molina recently voiced for Harley Quinn.) @@joshheralal8758 It had the most brutal fights out of all the spidey series of movies. Especially that final fight in the first film
@@firesnakex8 Facts.
The Goblin's hits are more violent in the end than all of the hits in homecoming.
I mean, he _is_ the director of Evil Dead
i freaking love the sound effects toby makes when he’s fighting!! makes it sound so realistic!!!
Here's why Spider-Man 2 is awesome whenever Spider-Man and Doc Oct share the screen.
Rami shows perfectly the limits of their abilities. Spidey's all quick and agile and Doc's tentacles are whipping around like they're alive. Its just so awesome.
I just fast forward through everything else in SM2, and just watch whenever Spider-Man, Doc Oct, or both of them when they're out on screen.
I'm sorry, but I love the whole thing. You can see that everyone put their heart and soul into making Spider-Man 2 the greatest superhero film ever made.
Luke M
Greatest Superheo movie ever made.... until Avengers came out.
The action scenes on SM2 are great, but most of the drama either drags or is just painful to watch... and confusing.
Peter doesn't want to be in a relationship with MJ because he's worried it will put her in danger (lets ignore that didn't stop her from needing to be rescued 4 times in the first movie alone), but when he finds out she's seeing someone else and getting married, he tries to vie for her attention through poetry.
Not to mention the humor that is essential to Spidey is removed and given to Peter being goofy or for slapstick.
Eric Coldfire Haha you read my mind! lol this movie was the funniest of the spidey films.. but for all the wrong reasons. Peter came out of this movie looking like a clumsy and stupid dork, pining for a girl out of his league. I hated that... sometimes he reminded me of Mr. Bean. Only the Spidey parts were terrific, especially that train fight scene

You would probably bully a kid like Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker. How is that a good thing? How does your attitude toward a guy like this Peter Parker make you a good person??
Luke M No.. I was never the bully back in highschool I've been bullied before myself.. and I've been popular too.. I'm just the down to earth guy. BUT I still wouldn't be tobey maguire's peter parker's friend.. that guy would just be too weird for me. lol Now Andrew Garfield's peter is more my style! We'd be Cool friends! Not to mention he's intelligent, doesn't give a fuck what others think.. and is a social reject by the jocks and jerks in school. He's right up my alley, and the closest to the comic book peter parker
Tobey's grunts and screams....really brings more life to the character....
I'm glad I had grown up watching him and Andrew as Spiderman
I have no hate towards Tom Holland , I can't connect to the Tom's spiderman much as the previous Spiderman movies
did this man just defend Andrew Garfield, fellas we've lost another
You lost all credibility when you chose Garfield over Holland
Andrew is the worst choice maybe Tom modern Spiderman , but Tobey is the silver age one.
That's true the old ones are more realistic and touching I have two Tom Holland films on DVD but I barely watch dem...
I feel like what stiffles Tom Holland's Spidey is his solo movies. There's no sense of high stakes or threat, they drag too much without anything going on, and side characters are cringe. What's the Vulture ? A trash digger/arms dealer who hates on corporations. Who's Mysterio ? Poorman Syndrome from the Incredibles, except he didn't kill other superheroes, he's, yet again, angry at corporations.
Tom's Spidey left me with a really good impression in Civil War, but Homecoming was dreadful. Making him grovel at Tony Stark so much and giving him such obnoxious and useless friends was a mistake.
3:01-3:17 was one of the best action sequences ever.. Doc ock was an incredibly formidable villain with multiple high powered killer mechanical tentacles..and spider-man absolutely wrecks him.. you could feel his anger. when they are falling and fighting and he lands that epic knee still gives me chiils. When spider-man is fighting at his peak he cannot be beaten. and batman fans honestly think he can go toe to toe with spidey. pfft.
trust
Honestly, I'm glad that Alfred Molina is the only guy to really do live action Doc Ock, because he's honestly perfect as the character. He manages to portray his strength and brutality, while also allowing him to be entertaining in terms of personality and visual flair. And frankly, the CGI for Otto, as far as I can tell, has aged quite well.
Nothing in the new Spiderman came close to this.
Well yeah, this is Spider-Man 2.
Amazing Spider-Man blew Spider-Man 1 out of the water, but you can't ask the reboots' first movie to be better then the original's sequel.
Though I bet Amazing Spider-Man 2 will have some awesome moments like this. Big battle between Spidey and Electro and Electro is arcing all over the place.
No, Amazing Spiderman was absolutely terrible.
CalvinistOnACouch
Now I know you're lying.

I'm sorry, I don't speak "I only got into Spider-Man because of the Rami movies and have never touched a Spider-Man comic in all my live, so let me tell you which is better"
Amazing Spider-Man is superior. Case closed kids.
Eric Coldfire Stfu Eric. ASM was great, but not Spiderman 1, 2 great. "Amazing Spider-Man blew Spider-Man 1 out of the water" That's bullshit. Spider-man 1 made me tear up several times. ASM left me with a stone face through the whole movie. The death of Uncle Ben in ASM, just seems so silly in ASM. He dies ecause he decided not to bring enough money to buy a stupid chocolate milk.
"Here's your change!"
spidey puns never get old
"Butterfingers!"
Neither does Doc Ock's little pun there!
Also a have a knack for that
The best Spider Man, the best fighter, with all natural powers.
He alone is sufficient to defeat sinister six. Doesn't require technology or iron suit.
What a masterpiece ...
Definitely not the best fighter Comic and PS4 Spidey would kick his ass.
@@adambump5297 bro, finish the spiderman game ps4 recently, and spiderman easily loses against dock ock with a few XD hits, had to resort to a new technological suit to defeat him, and on top of that he almost lost
@@leonardoromero3859 By that point he's already fought five other Super Villains maybe more if you've done the side missions and is still dealing with the pain of fourteen broken bones the man is exhausted both mentally and physically it's been a long Week give the guy a break so it's no wonder why he loses so fast and has to make a suit to compensate for his bones if he was going in at peek 100% and had no connection to Otto he would've won.
I feel like Tobey's Spiderman would've defeated Thanos in like 5 seconds
I know this sounds weird but Maguires grunts and screams are so powerful and emotional. Especially when he yells “hang on!” You can really hear the panic in his voice for his aunt. Whenever someone messes with aunt may or MJ is when Peter goes his hardest and you can really see in the aggressive manner of his punches and the way he beats the shit out of Otto. The other Spider-Man movies just didn’t portray the emotion of needing to save the person you love the most like Tobey did.
Facts
Spider-Man vs Dr Octopus was everything I ever hoped it would be.
2:29 Butterfingers ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
God Alfred Molina was a perfect Doc Ock
That silent mid air fight gets me everytime.
Tobey Maguire will always be Spider-Man to me. That's my childhood right there.
Guard: Hold it! Put your arms up!
Ock: Don't say it-
Guard: All of em!
Ock: DAMMIT!
1:18 doc oct: "you're getting on my nerves"
Spidey: "I have an knack for that"
*proceeds to get his head cuffed like a Pokémon Ball*
This is still the best super hero fight even after all the MCU films.
Debatable, but since Spidey's my fav superhero, I agree.
+Hark I like the train fight scene in this film a lot more though xD Buuut this one's good too c:
lol no
no... just no, I respect your opinion but just no
Yes..just yes. XD
Now this is a fight scene, in a spandex with nothing more than strength, brains and courage
My grandfather died the Summer this movie came out. I was living with my grandparents at the time helping to take care of him when he was dying. This scene always reminded me of my grandmother and me. I think we each helped each other in our grieving process, like Peter and Aunt May did after Uncle Ben died.
I wish they had more scenes like 3:08 where it has no music, just the wind, the sound of them landing punches and smashing in to things.
I think there is one more right before they land on a train
Kind like when a killer is after its prey in a horror film no music or booming soundtrack
Always loved Dock's raised eyebrow in 1:25 like he's looking forward to seeing poor Spidey's head pop. Alfred Molina was so good, can't believe we'll see him again in the part!
"That boy of yours is a real hero!"
"More of a hero than you!"
"Shut up Leonard!"
Imagine Spider's powers went off again while catching Aunt May
WOW
Mr. Nobody actually the only reason why he caught her is because he wanted his powers to save unlike in the beginning when he's frustrated and falls off the wall
Kal El LOL
“K A L E L , N O O”
Is it me or is this the only spider man that threw them hands
Fr. I liked the final fight when they where in the water and Spider-Man was Chris Browning his ass.
Nah man you right. Tobey cried a lot in his movies but he ain't no bitch
Revolver Ocelot crying doesn’t make someone a bitch.
@@Revolver_Ocelot16 i mean if my bestfriend and my uncle died i would cry too
Yes. 2 reasons.
Realistically, Peters punches would reduce Oct’s body to mush.
In the comics he never used melee attacks instead optimg for his webs.
This scene alone is the most comic and beautifully picturized concept, Idc what haters have to say tbh.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate Danny Elfman's score here? I Think that the doc ock suite is one of the main components to this character
I love how in this movie the minor characters like the guy trying to steal the golden dime gets those comic like bits
Guess who's back? Back again.
Tobey's back. Back again.
@@aseem2985 wrong ooooo, doc ock actor is🔥
@@Thecharliesruiz and Jamie Foxx
Doc Ock's back
And Goblin
"Butterfingers."
I laughed so hard. So glad that was a line.
I can't get enough of it no matter how many times I look at it. I think there are a lot of people watching it again because of Noway Home. I'm really looking forward to Spider-Man No Way Home. Thank you for the video! Thank you!!
