      To be fair, the Americans are very sporting. I suppose it's easy to be when you are so dominant. I know the others appreciate it though as a couple, including Aliya have commented on it in interviews. It makes the Americans more likeable in the gym community as it shows they aren't arrogant about their dominance.

It was very close in my opinion but I would've also liked Kocian to get the gold because Mustafina already had a gold medal from 2012 and I feel like Kocian's execution was slightly better in this but to be fair, Mustafina had a more difficult routine so I feel like it was fair that she won.

    I can't imagine how difficult it must be mentally to make yourself get back up & finish your bar routine (or ANY routine I guess?!) After falling & knowing right in that instant that there's ZERO hope for you to get a medal.... Obviously you'd be a pretty poor sport to just throw your hands up & be like "I'm DONE!" but, come on- you KNOW there's a part in the back of your head that's screaming "GAAAHH! I CANNOT BELIEVE I just did that- I don't even want to finish- can't I just go bury my head in the sand now?!"

    • @carliecole2563
      @carliecole2563 3 роки тому +1

      @@L.JPawtraits oh really? Well.... With what I've just seen of her personality type (what was it... The Sydney Olympics...? When she was like POSITIVE she was gonna win gold as was her team- that was the Olympics when there was all that controversy over th vaulting table being set a little too short or tall or whatever? I'm not exactly a "gymnast" by ANY means- I pretty much only "know" what I know based off what I've watched on here or on TV over the last 4-5yrs?! (
      I'm a lifelong Equestrian- 3-Day Eventer/"Equestrian Triathlon"- rider- with some "Pure" Show Jumping & Dressage as well. I just REALLY enjoy watching gymnastics too!)
      But uhh yeah- the one when she was suuuuper pissed & ripped off her silver team medal etc... Lol. Yeah- I could totally see her doing that!?!
      Then again, I can ALSO see if ANYONE is at a competition where 1) They're NOT competing for/on a TEAM & their score isn't needed- even if it's a bad score 2) if they suffered even a very minor injury when they fell- enough that they felt rattled enough that it'd be dangerous to continue 3) maybe they knew themselves well enough that they MENTALLY knew it "wasn't their day" & they would be better off stopping after a fall before it got worse.... Etc etc. (exact same stuff happens in the Equestrian world in Jumping- except you're disqualified after a fall & not even allowed back up lol)
      I know how hard that is to make yourself get back up & try again- even though with even Elite gymnasts- it DOES seem like they CAN sometimes still "come back" from a fall & still end up finishing quite well in the standings & even finish in the medals as individuals or teams?!
      (We just get Disqualified in jumping & aren't even allowed to get back on!)
      But.... Yeah, I guess like, unless a Simone Biles who's has a "regular" aka like, almost 2 full points ahead of 2nd/silver after 3 out of 4 of the apparatus- she can TOTALLY have an full blown fall & STILL get all-around gold by a big margin!? Yeah- Im thinkin' that's not NORMAL & never HAS BEEN in the sport?!?! Hahaha.....

    They should change the rule at the AA. If one country gets 3 people on the top 10. The 3rd people should be allowed to join the finals. Its really unfair that you mean that your that good but your not allowed for fairness to people who has lower score.

    • @shariseibeld8191
      @shariseibeld8191 4 роки тому +14

      They made the two-per-country rule, so that one country couldn't sweep the podium. Romania did it and ironically the U.S.A pushed for that rule. Now, that they have unarguably the best AA gymnasts in the world, they say that this rule is 'so unfair'. I, personally, like this rule, because it makes for a more colorful and exciting competition. But I see that some gymnasts never got the chance to show off their work, like Jordyn Wieber for example.

    • @keithtae
      @keithtae 3 роки тому

      I said this somewhere, this happened in table tennis as well. China took all medals at the Beijing Olympics TT and they have 2 per country rule since then. No one said a word. Is it fair? Not to China. But it gives other countries a chance. I like this rule.

      QPHashSS77 I think that the simplicity adds to the routine. The harder the moves the harder it is to accomplish well, obviously, and the fact that Aliyas routine didn’t have as hard of skills just makes the execution look almost perfect. Though I do respect your opinion

      QPHashSS77 the chow half gabby featured in the routine was first performed by Mustafina at europeans 2016, though it was not named after her bc it’s not worlds/olympics. so yes she did use a skill ORIGINATED by mustafina. it’s boring only bc ur fave didnt win

    I'm sorry but Tim need to FO with the 'two per country isn't fair' talk. It was fair when it was the Russians and Eastern European's were on top in the 70's - I.e when the USA were one of the countries pushing for the rule! To change it now one of the countries who wanted it is on top would be despicable. The rule is there for the good of gymnastics across the world. Yes it's unfortunate as the US have so many gymnasts who could compete who don't even make the team. But why is that? It's because the US is rich and has a good quality gym in every town. That's not the case anywhere else and never will be if gymnasts from a variety of counties aren't competing at Olympics and worlds.

      I don't know. I could see them still taking her over Seda. I know she is only a bars specialist but they could just have a super bars team of 3 huge scoes and Seda did not add much to the team anywhere. Komova could EASILY replace her beam and floor, and Melnikova doesn't have pressure to do AA in prelims now.

      Actually, in the 2013-2016 quad both piked and straddled jaegers were valued at D, so it didn't really matter. The piked jaeger was upgraded in the 2017-2020 cop.

    • @keithtae
      @keithtae 3 роки тому +1

      Pike Jaeger was rated as a "D" in 2013 - 2016 COP. They only upgraded it to an "E" in the most recent COP. So it wont make a difference. In fact, Aliya's routine is 0.2 higher than Maddie's in 2017-2020 COP. Since Pike Jaeger is an "E" element now.

    Tim Daggart talking about the 2 per country rule being unfair is sooooo funny. Er, the USA were one of the countries pushing for that rule back in the day the soviets and Eastern European's ruled. Typical arrogance of an American (not all Americans) to want to change the rules back now it would suit them. I think the rule is correct. Otherwise it would be totally boring. The USA has a real advantage of good quality gyms everywhere and the college system makes it worth training even if you aren't Olympic or WC level. So they have a big advantage over other countries but we need to see gymnasts from more than the USA. Just as in the past it was good to see gymnasts from countries other than the USSR.
