Well I mean, there was barely a whole lot of surviving photos of when Sega World London had opened online and it was also built at a densely populated area of London called the Trocadero. Even after Sega World London shut its doors, another arcade venue took its place but that one has also been closed permanently.

@Rman1228 Yeah, I think it was in the first photo shown when Sonic Team got their new office. I like to think the other O6 statues are in the office as well, but they just keep it on downlow. Like a reminder to themselves to always fight to get the right amount of extra time they need to complete the game. So they don't fail the next game like they did O6 by letting the higher-ups not give them enough time to cook.
if i had a penny for everytime a sonic statue went missing when the theme park it was located in shut down only to resurface a decade or two later, i'd have at least two pence, and considering how popular sonic was in the '90s it's not even that weird that it's happened twice.
Oh that gives me hope that we will find other stuff from video game theme park history!! Like the Mexican Mario 64 theme park… still wonder what that was all about
Yeah funny it was all thanks to a guy finding it on Google maps and then going to it irl. Which caused the current owner of the statue, that being the son of the guy who bought the statue to get in touch with Sega so it could get restored, refurbished, and made more secure. Tbh I kinda think that event is probably why Sega is just going around and finding their old statues' like a eureka moment of "huh well if this one can find a use a landmark then why shouldn't some of our other lost statues' be tracked down, repaired and given a new purpose. It's not like they are strictly tied to one use only they are statues." LOL, hence this guy showing up and the O6 statues being decorations in Team Sonic's new office as evident by a picture inside of the office showing the O6 Shadow statue near the meeting rooms.
This made me so emotional I think it’s because Sonic was a huge part of my life as a kid and he made me really happy. Sonic still makes me happy now and I buy the games and watch the movies. Such a special time
@@Mr_bukowski4435 Yeah, it’s in a rather remote area in Japan and the owner of the statue was a man named Mr. Kotera who bought the statue whenever the Sega World arcade venue in his local area closed down and the venue was auctioning the statue and Mr. Kotera bought it as a marker for his house to welcome his guests and family. Unfortunately, the original owner passed away but the Kotera family thankfully still own it and they had it restored once the news and story about the “mysterious” Sonic statue started going viral.
It's one thing to own Sonic merchandise, but Sega World London merchandise feels so legendary these days. I'm lucky to still have my Sega World London back pack.
Still love Sonic, the Sega Genesis and Game Gear were both my childhood. Same for The Adventures Of Sonic The Hedgehog cartoon. Still play the classic Sonic games even today on my Nintendo Switch
Glad to see it was restored; but its weird to me how this story matches alot of other ones involving old sonic statues being discovered. Sega apparently made many. Theres was a sonic and sally one sitting in a junk yard in Australia from their sega world. And then theres a random sonic on a skateboard statue sitting in the foresty mountains of japan and that recently got a touch-up.
