Bill Wyman knows who was who and what was what when it comes to the Stones. He's remained incredibly loyal to Brian Jones through thick and thin over these many years since the 1960s. I'm glad Brian's legacy is being appreciated publicly at long last and I'm looking forward to seeing this film
I wonder if Bill still loves the Tory party & the young’ns
Bill wyaman was easily replaced and Brian jones was only good for writing nursery rhymes
@@gfunk63901 Nonsense.
It's not nonsense! Have you seen the program? It shows how he tried to write songs and the others git him a songwriter helper as well but it was truly terrible and he says it himself. Bill isn't loyal in this he's honest, he says how he was like a manager in the beginning but also how he was evil, jealous of Mick badly, a bully and he would bully people that were at a disadvantage, insecure about how short and fat he was ( Bowie said when he saw him he couldn't stop laughing ciz he was so short and fat lol), how he hit woman and he used to put ash on his head fir the cameras and try and bully them all! All his GFS were nuttas and he treated them so so bad! He should of been in prison
@@MrThedonhead Um no, he specifically said Brian wasn’t evil. He could be cruel sometimes. Which frankly they all could be. I wouldn't use Bowie as any example of a saint. Bowie has been accused of being with underage girls, and he made Not-see remarks. Heck, Bowie was the one being the bully in your story. Strange double standards you have there. And Bill certainly hasn't been a saint either. Anyway, you clearly didn’t watch this documentary. And you’re obsessed with gossip and hate and have no business calling others evil or bullies. Get a life.
i love bill. he carries the torch in brian's memory. he's the first to say he was prickly and nasty when he wanted but also feels brian was hard done by. it's that sense of conviction he has in telling of brian's greater qualities.
Go Bill, a man dedicated to telling the truth not only with respect to the Stones, but in his own passions cause he knows that finding and reporting truth is more important than trying to shape a self serving legacy. Wish everyone involved in this much success
Liked young women too
Have you watched the documentary? He is not saying how good he is he is saying how horrible he is in general and how he was so jealous of Mick that he used to send fans letters saying how it's Mick's band now and I don't like it, it even shows him trying to write a song with a producer and it's like a five yr old. Addiction is horrible but addiction doesn't make you evil as Bill calls him he was just a spoilt upper class little boy. Everyone he knew disliked him
@@ppmppm7010 he was as gay as the ace of spades and pretty much says so in this documentary.
@@MrThedonhead OH yeah sorry that was Bill wasn't it
@@MrThedonhead Bill does not call him evil. Again it's obvious you didn’t watch. The only one being evil is you. And the only one who sounds jealous is you. And why are you randomly bringing up being gay, lol. Get lost, troll.
Brian inspired me to play guitar...my dad let me stay up to watch The Rolling Stones on the Ed Sullivan show many, many moons ago. Playing guitar kept me out of trouble, inspired my creativity, has made me a better man. Thank you Brian...🤗
Brian was a complex man, but he gave Jimi Hendrix his big break through his established contacts in the music industry. A gifted musician beyond belief, his parents didn't respect his
talent and didn't even go to see him perform, despite an invitation from him. How cruel. The rest is all too familiar, culminating in an early death.
What remains is that despite everything, Brian is still fondly remembered today as a great musician and style icon. I hope he is smiling his Cheshire Cat grin, wherever he is now.
They went to see him at least three times. Lewis Jones saw the Stones in Bristol and his parents were there when they played in Cheltenham

Just finished watching this fascinating film about Brian & was left feeling quite sad for him… it’s a very moving story really well told. One of the things that shines through is Bill’s respect & admiration for Brian’s phenomenal musicianship, and his loyal friendship for Brian.
As much as I respect Jones as a musician, I will never feel sad for someone who routinely beat up his girlfriends.
@@sodiumlights the film featured interviews with several of his former girlfriends, yet none of them mentioned being ‘routinely beaten up’ by him. I have read about the alleged fight he had with Anita Pallenberg when he is is meant to have hit her so hard he broke his hand, but I’ve not seen an account of the incident apart from Keith’s.

Most iconic Stones Albums and songs were with Brian
Which ‘iconic’ albums???
Beggars Banquet was with him, but on limited basis.
Let It Bleed he appears on 2 tracks in almost inaudible fashion.
Sticky Fingers & Exile On Main Street he does not appear on at all.
Several iconic songs after 1968 is without him too.
Hovever, from 1963-1968, yes, he appears in great form on many tracks.
@@HARALDEMANN So Xavier is correct and you just had to rush in and whine about it for some reason.
Jaggar and Richards are the reason for that bands success during and after Jones tenure. Without their creative input as the principle writers, we wouldn't be talking about any member of the Rolling Stones much less Jones.
@@HARALDEMANNIn addition to Beggars, Aftermath (UK and US) is an iconic album, as is its Baroque pop follow-up, Between the Buttons (UK and US).

@@michaelrochester48 He was the best guitarist the Stones ever had, but the music they made in the Sixties, especially the ones Brian Jones shined on like "Lady Jane", "Ruby Tuesday", "Under My Thumb", where he played all different instruments and the way he put those instruments into the songs hit me like no other era of their career.
In the early days Brian was the best looking of the group he seemed to have the most charisma as well, it is not surprising that he got the most fan mail
This was such a fascinating film, I didn't realise he started the group originally.
Brian Jones the original Rolling Stone..We keep his memory ALIVE FOREVER ❤️
He didn't start anything. It is a lie.
Brian didn't "start the group". Mick and Keith did. Brian Joined Keith's band. Anything you hear to the contrary are Bill Wyman's lies.
Bill wasn't even there.
The english gutter press eroded his confidence. Brian deserved better mates & support.
None were forthcoming. Of course "glimmering" jealousy dictates there likely wouldn't have been an enduring Rolling Stones if Brian had been a gifted and prolific songwriter.
He's gathered a large measure of emotional compensation though, if that is possible, in death. Once the most relevant band on the planet, they've been making fools of themselves on stages around the world for decades now!

@@davidmurray2539 Yeah playing the same old hits over nd over again.

Bryon Gysin and Brian Jones both recorded the Master Musicians of Jajouka. They even wrote a song about Jones.
An interesting watch, particularly some of the early footage of Brian and comments from his ex-partners. Bill's contribution too. I would have liked more current voice over comments from Mick & Keith - as I recognised some of these date from the late 1980's. Of course, they may still harbour negative feelings towards him. All in all, Brian was vitally important in 1962 & 1963 - really important 1964 to 1966 - and increasingly insignificant 1967 to 1969. As was stated, he formed one of greatest and longest enduring bands of all time.
PS my parent's close friend, Stewart, grew up in Cheltenham and is a similar age to Brian - and remembers him around the town in the pre-Stones era. I must have another chat regarding Brian.
Brian formed nothing. It was and still is Keith's band.
@@williardbillmore5713 Sounds like it's about time for you to read up on some of The Stones history from the early beginnings. I think Wyman may know just a tad bit more than you.
@@kellykarcher7179 No ...Not really...
Jones asked Keith if he could join Keith's band in may of 1962,
Bill joined the band in mid December of 1962 a full eight months later.
Now you can say, well I wasn't there, but I can say that Bill Wyman wasn't there either. He has no knowledge of how the band was organized and how they got together before December 1962. Bill was the last to join.
But I have Brian Jones's certified and authenticated handwritten words that explain how he joined Keith's band The Blue Boys.
Read and learn;
*“The band is really an amalgamation of two bands. The one being an R&B band I formed about a year ago, and the other being a group run by Mick and Keith in S.E. London. I was introduced to Keith and we decided to pool our resources, so with Stu from my band, and Mick from Keith’s we became the nucleus of the ‘Stones.’”*
The band he claimed was not together at that time and all he had was pianist Ian Stewart who was the only serious one to answer his advert in the Jazz News to start a new R&B band and the only one he had auditioned and "chose"...
Mick and Keith's band had been "founded" some seven months earlier in 1961 Jagger and Richards led a five-man unit named The Blues Boys, also featuring guitarists Dick Taylor, Bob Beckwith, and drummer Allen Etherington.
This is the band that Brian joined and after some changes in personnel they changed their name to the Rolling Stones.
The stories that Bill likes to tell about Jones auditioning all the members and choosing who he wanted in his band is not based in facts
They still harboring a lot of nasty emotions. Its in their clippings and interviews over the last 30-40 years. IDK what it is. IMO I feel like they've received some heat from Stones fans and Brian Jones followers over the years on how they treated him. After all this time why speak so ill and harshly on the guy that created your band? Keith had nothing nice. to say about him in his autobiography which is what 8-10 years old?
@@dannyaoalsson Mick and Keith are the victims of a rash of lies about their relationship with Jones, starting with Bill Wyman and perpetuated and amplified by writers with an agenda, like Paul Trynka.
Jones was a malignant narcissist and a psychopath. They put up with his crap a lot longer than most bands would have and the severance agreement they gave him and continue to give his estate, was more than generous, when they finally had to fire him. Keith's writings may seem harsh and perhaps a bit uncaring to some, but at least he is honest and candid. He didn't sugar coat anything just because the guy was dead. Keith had a story to tell and he told the unvarnished truth about who and what Jones became over time.
I respect Keith for his candor and honesty.in telling us what they had to go through with an extremely difficult member of his band.
Got to see The Stones & Brian Jones documentary on the big screen last night! It was for a film festival and the place was packed. Nick Broomfield and Bill Wyman definitely made sure Brian's musical contributions were front and center; I even heard audience members saying afterward that Brian should have received more credit! 😁 The women in Brian's life were a very strong presence throughout the documentary, which is awesome. 👩 And most of all, the lesson I took away is, when you see someone having a hard time in life, be a friend. Say something. Just be kind. ❤
How hard were the lives of Brian's children, pup?
Was Brian "kind" to his own offspring?
Was he a "friend" to his own progeny?

It would be amazing if living members would confess what happen between early managers and Brian Jones. Brian was a stone in their shoe. "In 1966, I witnessed, on numerous occasions, the remarkable spell Brian would cast while working in the recording studio. Mick and Keith would bring songs in, Brian would listen and effectively take charge, and everyone was in awe of him. He was a real perfectionist. While recording the recorder part in Ruby Tuesday he explained to me that he had to do it over again as he had been a quarter tone off tune."--Prince Stash Klossowski de Rola (artist and friend of the Stones) in Brian Jones: Butterfly in the Park.
Nonsense. Brian played on the recorder what Keith directed him to play in Ruby Tuesday and each phrase was recorded separately and stitched together later in the mix by Keith and arranger Jack Nitzsche.. If it was Brian's band how could the other two imposters throw him out?
Maybe you could try one of the many books or documentaries on the subject, such as this one. :)
That’s simple: They were more talented songwriters and had way more impact. Brian became jealous because they took over the band and then started his reckless behaviour with drugs. There was simply 2 guys who had known each other since childhood, that were more talented than Jones.
Brian Jones Fans will forever argue his talents, but forgets the fact that what made them stars was their orignal songs. Brian founded the band, but had they followed his wishes, they had continued playing the blues at Marquee Club.
What made The Stones solid and stand out from Yardbirds or Animals was Jagger/Richards talents as songwriters.
Nonsense. "Reckless behavior"? Is this Sunday school? It's a rock and roll band, lol. And if anything, the Stones' love of the Blues is what set them apart from other British Invasion groups. Bill Wyman has no clue how the other members of the Stones got together with the possible exception of how Charlie Watts became a member. Bill was there for that in January 1963.
Brian and Ian joined Keith's band The Blues Boys in May of 1962 and Bill did not join until eight months later in mid December.
Bill is the sole source of the stories about Brian forming the band, auditioning all the members, choosing who he wanted in his band and leading the band to play the blues. He is the only source of the lie that Keith and Mick answered Brians advert in the Jazz News to start an R&B band.
It is all lies and they have been told and retold so many times by journalists , book writers, gossipy magazine editors, movie voiceovers and anyone else who will listen to his poppycock and fantasies about which he hasn't a clue, that these stories have become myths and legends about how the band was started by Brian alone.
It is not true.
The fact is that , yes , Ian was the only one who answered Brian's advert who wanted to play R&B music and Brian had no band. The Blues Boys were an established band with Jagger Richards, bass player Dick Taylor and several successive drummers that were founded seven months before.
Brian liked the way they played blues music and he appealed to Keith to let he and Ian join Keith's band and Keith agreed.
Read Brian's letter to the head of their fan club written in early 1963 about how the band was formed;
*“The band is really an amalgamation of two bands. The one being an R&B band I formed about a year ago, and the other being a group run by Mick and Keith in S.E. London. I was introduced to Keith and we decided to pool our resources, so with Stu from my band, and Mick from Keith’s we became the nucleus of the ‘Stones.’”* --Brian Jones 1963
The " group run by Mick and Keith in S.E. London" was Keith's band, The Blue Boys, who after Brian joined them changed their name to the Rolling Stones, prior to their debut at the Marquee Club in Soho.
Dick Taylor was still playing bass for the Rolling Stones and Chapman was playing drums at that, their first performance as the Rolling Stones.
When all that happened Bill was across town playing bass for the Cliftons and he had no knowledge of what was happening in Keith's band, The Blue Boys.

Bill has a reputation now of lying about how the band was formed and who formed it. He was not a member for another eight months AFTER Brian joined Keith's band the Blue Boys so he had no information of what happened while he wasn't there.
Everything he says about Mick and Keith going to Brian to answer his advert and auditioning for him and then Brian "choosing them" from some imaginary pool of applicants is pure hogwash fantasy. The only musician who answered Brian's advert who wanted to play R&B music was Ian Stewart.
The stories Bill tells about how Brian choose the music that they played is also a lie. The Blue Boys were a blues band before Brian joined them and the Muddy Waters tune Rollin' Stone Blues was in fact a part of their play list BEFORE Brian joined. .
Brian had promised when he joined that he could get them gigs because he knew all the club owners, but when he couldn't deliver more than a few they had to look elsewhere for proper management...
"Brian wanted to be a band leader, that is to say he wanted to lead a band, but he just wasn't very good at it." ---Charlie Watts.
When they found out Brian was still taking 5 pounds more payment than the rest of them , supposedly for "leading the band" long after he stopped trying to get gigs, it understandably infuriated them and they never trusted Brian again.
They should have fired him then for his greed and dishonesty.
Brian liked the music Keith's band was playing and he liked the way they performed it so he asked Keith if he and Ian could join and Keith agreed.
Brian not only did NOT found the Stones ...He wasn't even a founding member of the band that BECAME the Stones.
The Blue Boys had been founded by Mick, Keith and Dick Taylor the original Stones bass player seven months before Brian asked to join.
The film relies heavily of Bill Wyman to talk about the early Stones. I do not believe a word he says. He has an agenda and honesty is NOT part of it.
“The band is really an amalgamation of two bands. The one being an R&B band I formed about a year ago, and the other being a group run by Mick and Keith in S.E. London. I was introduced to Keith and we decided to pool our resources, so with Stu from my band, and Mick from Keith’s we became the nucleus of the ‘Stones.’” --- Brian Jones 1963
"Stu Is a nickname for pianist Ian Stewart and the " group run by Mick and Keith in S.E. London" was the Blue Boys, Keith's band that Brian joined and shortly after changed their name to the Rolling Stones.

@@TheaterPup yes.
@@TheaterPup "nothing to see here it's just a conspiracy theory" hello fed!
Yeah, Brian started the band but Jagger and Richards wrote the hits that put them on the map. Otherwise, they would have remained a Blues Cover band. And a Jagger and Richards weren’t going to take a back seat especially since they wrote all the songs. That was Jones downfall. He was a great player but he didn’t write original songs or sing.
And since the Glimmer Twins wanted to be the co leaders once Jones became unreliable they kicked him out and he was in a free fall of drugs and lost. Wyman was his only friend in the band. He really couldn’t help him. Jagger and Richards really wanted Jones off the stage and out the picture and they got their wish finally.
And Richards confronted Jones once and said you want to lead the group? Fine. Let’s hear some new songs. And Jones had no songs so that shut him up. He ended up a sideman in his own band afterwards. He was done.
Brian made a lot of those songs hits, and he should have gotten credit. And they were all friends, they were not trying to get him off the stage.
@@TheaterPup Should have gotten? From who? Oh that’s Right. Jagger Richards. Credit denied! They decided not to!
In the beginning Jagger and Richards didn’t want him off the stage but as they kept writing the songs and hits, I’m sure they started to resent him. But this is all just my opinion which I am entitled to.
And they took the the music seriously so when he showed up drunk or too drugged up to play i doubt they liked that. So he became a liability. And that’s unprofessional.
That’s all!
Mu opinion from things I've heard and realizing that I was not there first hand. Andrew Loog Oldham the manager and Jones disagreed on the bands direction. The three of them Oldham, Jaggerand Richards, took what Brian had started and was his baby and then hi jacked it. Oldham pushed Richards and Jagger to write together, to imitate the Lennon McCartney song writing partnership
Brian was probably used by Jagger and Richards to get going as a band, and then they couldn't help but to instinctively take it over as they were the songwriters and singers and the closet two members in the band.
At this point Brian may have been somewhat content with his popularity and life style, But Jagger and Richards were very hungry. Sadly Brian never stepped up or adjusted to the fast changing pace of the times.
Charlie Watts said that Brian could not handle the drinking and the drugs. Keith Richards said the Brian was like a Welsh bull when they first started but then he disintegrated right in front of you
A part of me thinks that Jones was not able to handle the immense success of the band due mostly to his drug and drinking habits, The busts and legal issues, and the loss of his woman to band member Keith.
One can't help but feel bad for Brian Jones. To be riding so high and then to lose everything
@@theyrekrnations8990 Mostly true..yes.
Not sure what you're bragging about. They lost fantastic guitarist Mick Taylor for the same reason, they denied people their rightful credit.@@dynjarren8355
