Long story coming, so understand if you have to skip it, kind youtuber. Years ago, I was once at an event with my Granddad. He was driving a lorry in a sort of parade, with several other haulage firms trying to win the competition I think for best float in show. I remember very little of this event, as I was approximately eight years old at the time. I remember lying flat on the floor of the lorry's trailer, gazing out at all the passers buy, and even had my photo taken with another young lad who was there, as well as all the Westbrooks staff who were on the float. Later on that day when I was standing on the path, a teenaged lad rode passed on a bycycle, and threw something frisbee like to my feet. When I bent down to pick it up, I saw it was a record, and old lp, with the Brookside logo printed on the centre. Not wanting to look a gift horse in the mouth, I promplty took it home, and occasionally listend to it on my record player, long since gone now. I was never a massive fan of Brookside when I was a child, but I still remember being in my late teens and twenties, sitting on my Nan's couch next to her at 3PM saturday afternoons, watching Brookside with her towards the end. Both Grandparents are saldy gone, but hearing the theme as well as so many things reminds me of both, as it intertwines two separate memories. Thanks for uploading, and for reading. x
It just got silly in the mid-90s and downhill from there. They tried a couple revamps in 2000 and 2002 but they just didn't stick, ratings fell and it was forced into a graveyard Saturday Afternoon slot and even late night.
@@Hulk2k6 1995 was where it peaked with the body under the patio plot. Things never got as good after that. The sexual relationship with the siblings in 1996 was probably what started the decline
which is ironic as it was probably the least comforting soap on TV. It definitely didn't plod along for months with someone worrying about the sheep in the big field!
Smach head jimmy 😂 when his mother in law was dying of cancer and the morphine had stopped working Jimmy scored her some smack 😂. Brookside went places soaps today haven’t touched. Siblings incest relationships bodys burried the pacho and the Gang life of Liverpool with Barry Grant plus having handguns on screen only a few years after dumblane child school shooting and the UK firearms act that made all handguns illegal. There’s so much more this soap went too there was a reason it was on C4 after 21:00 at night as back then you had the watershed anything adult violance nudy or plot could only be shown on TV after 21:00 and if I remember Brookside was on at 22:20. I remember me and my sister begging our parents to stay up late on a school night to watch it.
When they had to play looooong extended credits for whatever reason (omnibus or end of year etc) they started the music at 00:25 faded in.. Anyone know if they ever played it longer than that?
I just watched the first episode of Brookside .. the entire episode was about a new family burning their breakfast and deciding whether to ask their new neighbours for a lift to church .. literally nothing else happened i'm already on episode 2 :) :) what madness is this!
After the 1:00 mark it gets full on! love it! thanks for uploading, an iconic soap, created by some brilliant story lines etc and the characters.. 90s memories for me
Life has never been the same without Harry Cross, Ralph and Julia Brogan, Not forgetting Bing (Mr Crosbie), who was Patricia Farnham's father and always reminded me of Leslie Phillips in his manner.
Good for you uploading this. I've been a collector of TV theme tunes all my life and I've been on the lookout for the full 1990s version of the Brookside theme. By the way, do you have the 1980s version at all?
Hi John! Thanks for your comment and the subscription. I am sorry, but we don't have the 80s version I'm afraid. Glad we have added to your collection with this one, though! :-)
I'm sure I heard this theme at a Rave in the 90s :D they based the story of the abusive and murdered father on my sister's nearby neighbour in Stevenage who was buried in the garden by his daughter and wife, only discovered after a dispute over a hedge.
Could listen to this all day it really soothes me but I always remember of when I thought it was the shittest theme ever when i watched it and now ivd picked it up again becuase i kept googling lindsey and i watched an episode watched another and I'd ssy this js better thsn corrie
Close my eyes and I'm 3 again with my dad watching this in our old house

one of the most iconic soap operas ever to grace TV....Such a shame it had to be axed....
It just got silly in the mid-90s and downhill from there. They tried a couple revamps in 2000 and 2002 but they just didn't stick, ratings fell and it was forced into a graveyard Saturday Afternoon slot and even late night.
It was on Channel 4, not ITV.
@@DeepScreenAnalysis Sorry that was a typo on my part was meant to just be TV haha
@@Hulk2k6 They should have sent Big Ron Dicko an his double barrel shotty round to C4 headquarters. He'd have sorted it.

If the whole series came out on a box set, I would buy it
That would be impossible. There's thousands of episodes.
@@BLTKellysnot impossible you can just download the whole thing I torrent site
it's that impossible that one of my friends has for every single episode onto a 50 Gb double sided Blu-ray disc.
Love Brookside. The original soap on Channel 4 before Holyoakes.
this theme tune is very comforting and you could listen to it for hours
which is ironic as it was probably the least comforting soap on TV. It definitely didn't plod along for months with someone worrying about the sheep in the big field!
I do just that
The theme is cool, usually soaps don't have a cool theme
Bring back Brookie biggest mistake Channel 4 ever made was to axe it
Bring back brookside close on tv please ❤️
This stirs up so much nostalgia, brilliant 👏
Brookside needs to return to our screens bring back Barry Grant and Jimmy Corkhill Brookside had some of the best storylines.

STV Wednesdays
I never watched Brookside., but this has got to be the best soap theme ever.
this video should have been on the end credits to the last episode
When they had to play looooong extended credits for whatever reason (omnibus or end of year etc) they started the music at 00:25 faded in.. Anyone know if they ever played it longer than that?
I so miss watching this. Every Wednesday night I would watch this!!!!

Brilliant theme tune to what was an amazing programme .
Watched it from start to finish .
It would be good if they brought back a week of episodes to celebrate Phil's knighthood.
It on the STV player
I wish I could go back in time. Everything these days is so uncertain and unsure. 😢
Tune. Bring Brookie back!
Or show repeats.
After the 1:00 mark it gets full on! love it! thanks for uploading, an iconic soap, created by some brilliant story lines etc and the characters.. 90s memories for me

It needs to come back 100 times more percent
Mum lives right next to it I grew up there haaa
I used to watch brookside when I was a little boy through my childhood when it was on weekend lunchtime and when I was 11 in evening.
Life has never been the same without Harry Cross, Ralph and Julia Brogan,

John Martin yeah no problems mate I was having a chat with Steve Wright today he said he has full 2002 version hid away gutted lol
I hate Hollyoaks but I watched Brookside. Great show.
old school Hollyoaks was good
Loved this
This theme would also have been good for a WWE wrestler back in the 80/90’s
Is this out of phase or something. Sounds really odd on my speakers. Love it either way
Heather haversham
named a locomotive for the series too.
